the fact that the album has not been released is hype enough. for the last 5-6 years chinese democracy has been talked about fuck, if there is any guns n roses news story it is always top 5 headlines at billboard, blabbermouth, ultimate guitar etc. people that are into music know of this album, whether they like the band or not.

i live in australia and the only news you can get on rock bands is either very mainstream or an aussie band(we like to pump our own bands tyres) but guns n roses is an exception to that rule. in the week preceding axl's letter they featured on the today show entertainment as lead story and even headlined the ninemsn video news and there were small articles in the herald sun and the age, the two biggest papers in australia. what was unusual about these articles were they didnt feature in the entertainment section, rather they were in the world news.

when i first heard better i was blown away. since ive showed it to a lot of my friends, ALL of which have thought it was an unreal song. since they have kept asking me when is this album coming out, i want to hear more etc..

wat im sayin is that better will hit the mainstream if it gets airplay, (which it will just because it guns n roses) and tear it up. attention will be at the album and a second hit single could put guns back on top. at the moment all we have in the music is female pop singers with attitude which can work for axl, and emo shit. emoo has even lost its touch and is not really seen as cool anymore. the world needs a rock band it can dance and rock out to. guns n roses is that band.

promo is the key, get better out there and guns n roses will be back with a bang

yeh alot of ppl do 'sheep it' but to be honest EODM do suck. i think gnr should drop all thier openers except baz unless they can get a class act to coheadline with such as metallica, stones, ac/dc or aerosmith then theres no complaints and you get a hugeass crowd.

I agree 100% ...no one can fill Slashs boots but Bucket could fill them in a different way, not only in ability but in presence....he was a genius move by Axl. BBF was most likely the cantidate because his style of playing is somewhat similar to Bucket and would be able to pull off the parts....he just doesn't fit at all in vibe thou....guy is an amazing player of course but just the wrong puzzle piece ...

Can you honestly say - without laughing out loud - that Buckethead - the guy with the yellow raincoat, Jason mask and bucket on his head that would hand out plastic toys at a rock show - "fits" in more than Ron?

Bucket is a great guitarist - no doubt about it. But he never "fit" with GNR at all. He had no chemistry with the other band members at all onstage - and gave off a "circus" or "cartoon-like" vibe when he was onstage.

By contrast, Ron has great stage presence, a real rock vibe, and great chemistry with the other band members onstage. Each member feeds off the other - which is critical if individual musicians are to gel to become a "band." I think Ron is a great addition to the "puzzle." As I mentioned in an earlier post: He has the musical skills for the job and offers a great PR connection between the band and fans.

couldnt agree more, while bucket is a kickass guitar player, he's probably the gayest thing ive ever seen. thal pretty much is the coolest guy on the planet and is as awsum if not better than any guitar player in guns n roses

i think the song has improved since 02 but the 'helium' voice was better suited to it than the rasp. still the studio version will be perfect so the whole 02- 06 comparison will mean jack shit in the end

hmm yeh interesting thread i posted this in the other thread but i walked into virgin music in ballarat, australia today and asked if cd was in, she looked up on the computer and said the release date is sat 9th december. australians usually get the album on the sat before it is released in america. fingers crossed this is it

its tuesday arvo in australia and i just went into my local virgin and, no i dont work in a music store but the service attendent said to me chinese democracy will be out on december 9 in aus, which is on a saturday, the day albums are usually released in aus. i didnt believe her at first but she did show me her computer screen and sure enough it was there. fingers crossed this is it

i am still confident we will get the album this year but i think even just a single will be enough to keep fans for another year. i dont think id be disapointed with a single and a release date for early next year if we got it this week.

yeh ultimate guitar are pretty average on thier news tho. they posted that guns quit over the drinking ban in portland and made no reference to the press release blaming it on the fire marshalls.

I'm going to find it hard to believe that anybody at that show is going to be totally 'blown away' by anything. Think about it... most of you, who saw this show, saw them either in 2002 or at Hammerstein... or both! In 2002, most had waited a decade to see them again. OF COURSE you're going to be blown away. Hell, Axl could have showed up then, walked on stage, screamed: "Do you know where the fuck you are?!?!?!", walked off for the night, and any one of us would have been blown away.

Now, we've seen live recordings... heard live and demo leaks... have seen them once already this year (some of us)... and if we haven't done that, we've been following every show on the tour this year... the setlist...listening to boots... etc.

It's like watching the same football game over and over again. You know what's going to happen... you've already witnessed it one way or another via online or at other shows... nobody's going to be blown away unless they were locked in a padded room with no contact with the outside world for the last 15 years and just now let out to see their favorite band.

It's going to be hard to blow anybody away when you know the set list going in... that's why I hope CD doesn't leak before its release.

yeh i have on purpose refused to listen to twat or catcher just because of the fact i dont want to spoil democracy when it comes out. i have the leaks of better and irs and fucking love them as well as maddy, cd, the blues, silkworms and rhyad live which kick ass. i wont download any leaks if they come. ive heard enough, need to leave some surprises....

to be honest i think we are kidding ourselves for november 21st for chinese democracy. its almost impossible but i still think it will be the day for guns n' roses return. 'better' will be released as the first single on november 21st i think

The real reason the show was cancelled this came from the fire marshal and head of security.

This is the truth. Axl called in earlier today about ticket sales and they were low. It was only about half full. Axl never left NYC thus the reason the show got cancelled. That is the real reason.

yeh thats sweet but alot of people have different opinions on stiff upper lip so the question is are you a fan of that album or you think CD will be a flop??

guns are no way near as big as the 90's but they still have a lot of pulling power, geez they still make newspapers in australia which is a fair feat in itself. democracy could be announced for tuesday and it would still sell hugely. the album will sell itself purely on the fact that it has been 13 years in the waiting.

i have played better to a few of my mates that hate guns and they even admitted it was pretty good. don't worry lads, democracy will rule its roost rock2
