  1. I was in the orchestra section row dd. Let me just say that this show was my very first gnr show and it was amazing imo. I was really surprised at how these guys played the old songs. Dont get me wrong, I would of loved to see the original gnr on stage but i wanted to see what these new gunners had. I thought they were freaking awesome. Axl did a good job hiring these guys. Excellent perfomers. I admit i was a little worried that he was not going to show because of the time it was taking but he made up for it by doing a 2 hour show. I was hoping izzy would come out but oh well. If you guys already have tickets for the other future events, trust me you will not be disappointed. RnFnR new gnr.

If Slash were ever to look at his Caller ID and see Axl Rose's name, what would he do?

"Oh, I'd answer it," the former Guns N' Roses guitarist said recently. "But I know he would never call me. I've actually sent him Christmas cards, just to be cordial, but he never returns anything."

In other words, rumors from last month that Saul "Slash" Hudson would perform with Rose and his new GN'R in New York were just that (see "Guns N' Roses Live: No Reunion Of Classic Lineup, But Great Anyway"). In March, just two months before those gigs, Rose filed suit against his former bandmate to confirm his "ownership of his own creative works" in response to an action Slash and former GN'R bassist Duff McKagan had filed over royalties (see "Axl Files Suit Against Slash, Lashes Out At Ex-Bandmates").

"I don't know where [the rumors come] from, but I haven't dealt with Guns N' Roses any more than I have in the last 10 years," which is not much at all, Slash said. "So it's not really a thing with me. I have, in the foreseeable future, no re-involvement with that band whatsoever."

Instead, Slash is fully focused on his multiplatinum new band, Velvet Revolver, and their forthcoming second album, the follow-up to 2004's Contraband.

"We're in preproduction and it sounds amazing," Slash said. "I'm just really excited 'cause hopefully we'll get this thing out before the year's over. The material is amazing and ... we've grown so much as a band."

While frontman Scott Weiland has called the material a concept album and bassist McKagan said the band will record with a variety of producers (see "Velvet Revolver Bassist Promises 'Stinky' Pharrell Collabo"), all Slash would reveal is that the LP is coming together naturally, and "it's not phony in any way, shape or form, and the band's whole-heartedly into it."

Well, that and the album title.

"I don't want to say [anything specific about] the songs, but the name for the album is Libertad, which is Spanish for 'liberty,' " Slash said. "It's something that we feel strongly about: liberty, freedom, you know ..."

Slash did take a break from writing Velvet Revolver material to pen a song and score some music for the just-released movie "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift."

"It's one of those things where you don't really know what you're doing, but they feed you what you need to see, certain scenes," Slash said. "It's easy to [write rock material] when you're watching cars going on their sides at breakneck speeds."

In the end, Slash reported that he enjoyed watching the film's action scenes, but not quite as much as he enjoyed the footage he saw on TV of Rose getting into a fight with Tommy Hilfiger.

"I thought that was pretty funny," Slash said. "That sounds about right."

  3. It's kind of funny how years ago Old GnR members were not allowed to attend the new gnr shows(like Slash back in Vegas) and Izzy is going to be at a couple of these new shows.

  4. Pink's no "Stupid Girl," but she's the first to admit she's "extra good at making myself look stupid," especially when it comes to the "typical backstage bloopers" found on her upcoming DVD, "Live in Europe," due May 23. The film chronicles a 2004 concert in Manchester, England, during her Try This tour. "God, it feels old now," Pink laughed. "It's really good. It's fun." The track list includes "Lady Marmalade," a cover of Guns N' Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle" and a medley of the Janis Joplin favorites "Summertime," "Me and Bobby McGee" and "Piece of My Heart." ...

  5. Dude like when will this rumour die? When there is something official thats when everybody should get excited about. This rumour has been going on for so long that people will start believing. I dont believe this unless there is an official statement from Slash, Duff, or Axl.

  6. It has also been the most requested song so far as well. Monday thru Friday nights they have the Furious 5 at 9 and GNR's I.R.S has made its way to #1 out of the 5. Congrats on that. rock3

  7. the truth is that the original is by Sting. Stings version is diffrent from puff daddy. Puff daddy has used the sweet child o mine riff in hes song...case closed!

Dammit Dude. Why are you still saying that puff daddy has used sweet child o mine. For the last time its from every breath you take by the police. Maybe SCOM Sounds a bit like it but puffy did not sample it off GNR. Now the case is closed. :fuckyou:

  8. yes they do..and this topic was closed....oh my god sometimes i dont want to see Chinese democracy when i know how the rest of gnr fans are acting!

Well your the one who put this topic out and we all basically told you where puff daddy sampled it. What more do you want? By the way I remember that puff daddy and sting(singer of the police) did the song at the mtv music awards in 98. Cant get anymore proof that it was a police song buddy. :)

Heres the part with the gnr mention.

"I listened to all kinds of metal as a kid," said Pinkett Smith, who has spent the past few years honing her hard-rock chops as frontwoman of Wicked Wisdom, a band that's put in such serious road time lately that the actress has been all but invisible on the big screen since its formation four years ago. "Metallica, Guns N' Roses. I would always look at Axl Rose and say, 'Why aren't there any chicks out there doing this now?' I always wanted an opportunity to get out there and rock out."

  10. I've been listening to KROQ at work these past couple of weeks and noticed a lot of different things. I always listened to the station to see what new music they play as well as some classics(Metallica, Alice in Chains, Etc.) I never get to hear GNR on the station not even on flashback hours. Until this past week they been playing GNR songs on the station. I kind of find it weird but then again when a band is coming up with a new album they always play their material a lot. So I guess since we got news from Axl that we would hear music this year I think the station is starting to play GNR songs now. Plus the DJ in the evening(Nicole Alvarez)played Paradise City and mentioned that the Chinese Democracy album was going to be heard this year. After that she told the audience lets keep our fingers crossed on this one. I think the hype is already here people. CHINESE DEMOCRACY IS FINALLY COMING!!!!!
