  1. this just pissing me off a radio dj by the name of rush something said Michael was acting in a interview and i really hope Michael j fox get better and find a cure aswell and also this just brings a tear in my eye and it also make me sad good job axl

Okay, so this is another example of people just typing shit they think they heard without all the facts. I am not a Rush supporter in any way, but I am a supporter of the truth. Rush said (paraphrasing) that he thought MJF didnt take his medication on purpose, so he would look worse to the public, thereby garnering more sympathy for stem cell research. He did not say he was acting. There is a huge difference here.

And before soneone jumps on me for supporting Rush, I am in full support of Stem Cell research . Just another reason why this is so cool of Axl.

So can we please just STOP posting irresponsible shit on this forum, or we will be just like all the other forums that are full of shit.

    Thanks.

actually you're wrong here....limbaugh stated, "this is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting, one of the two." look it up. if you can't find it, i can post a link.

Like I said, he didnt say "he was acting" it was a half truth, Rush did not say "he was acting". He said one or the other, there is a difference. Kinda like saying "Either Chinese democracy is coming out this year, or next" vs. "Chines Democracy is coming out this year" See the difference. I didnt put the part about the acting cause the other already said it.

When you dont quote correctly it is wrong. Bottom line it is NOT what he said. You cant just take parts of the quote that you want. It needs to be all of it. And for the record, I watch Boston Legal with my wife and he talks fine on that show, but for the add he is out of control. He DID do one or the other, but I feel that is his right by the way, but what Rush said was true I believe.

Not a fan of Rush, but if you are gonna rip em, say ALL of the quote, and the context as well. The way the post was written it was as if Michael J Fox was faking being sickin an interview. He didnt even put it in context. Damn, I cant believe you even wrote that man. After all the shit the Merck and Axl get accused of saying, get the quotes 100% right, they are what other people say, so picking part of it to your own liking is FALSE. When I made my statement I said I was paraphrasing, that was what Rush was implying.

just keep on supporting mediocraty (sp) guy

    gunzen,

please don't take my statement as an attack on you. i was merely trying to clarify the situation.

i get what your saying, but to me your post implied that any suggestion of rush saying fox was acting was false. to me it did not seem to imply that there was even a "half-truth" in that statement. that may not have been what you meant, but it was the way that it came across. my only point was to say that rush did indeed state the possibility of fox acting sick. i agree that there is a difference between saying matter of factly that he was acting and saying he was either acting or not on medication...my only point was that he listed it as a possibility.

  3. this guy is full of shit, he was on one of the boards a couple of weeks ago saying that he was a customer from meijers and talked with the guy who worked there, who said it was coming out on so and so date (i think it's changed since last time) and that he reserved one of the 13 copies they were getting. several people from the board tried to call this particular meijers and couldn't confirm the rumor

    attention whore.

For the record, two people called the store while I was working (im the only who works there that is even remotly interested in this) I spoke with one in person and told him what I knew, the other left a message with my manager Bruce requesting information and when I tried to call him back I left a message on his answering machine but never received a call back.

It's really hard for me to beleive that you know about these old posts i'm referring to, yet you're new to the boards. I think you're the same guy.

give us the contact info for the vendor, that's the only way you can convince anyone.

Feel free to contact the Meijer in your area...

    http://www.meijer.com/locations/index.asp

unfortunately, there are none in my area. it's a small chain in the middle of nowhere, which makes this story even more difficult to beleive. nationwide big boxes have waaaay more employees and thus a much greater chance of having one of them come onto the boards.

actually, i used to live in ohio and must say your description of meijer as a "small chain" is inaccurate. regional chain: yes, small chain: no. meijer is a super-retail store similar to target or wal-mart and is extremely successful in the midwest.

that being said, i see no reason to argue about the validity of what meijeremployee said. there's really no way to prove it either way. i for one will just continue hoping that CD is out by the end of the month...any news that makes this seem like a better possibility is good news in my book. if the 28th comes and still no CD, then we can criticize meijeremployee all we want, but until then....i fail to see the point

  4. GUNS N' ROSES LICENSES MUSIC TO HARLEY-DAVIDSON BLACK SHEEP

    Monday, November 6, 2006 - Harley-Davidson Press Release

Guns N' Roses has licensed music to Harley-Davidson for a new television commercial, "Black Sheep." The commercial was shot in black and white and shows black sheep of various herds escaping and running wild while the Guns N' Roses hit, "Paradise City" plays in the background. At the end of the commercial, the black sheep end up at a Harley-Davidson motorcycle rally. This marks the first time Guns N' Roses has agreed to license one of their songs for a commercial.

The "Black Sheep" commercial, featuring "Paradise City," will air during Busch Grand National and Nextel Cup Races October 8 through November 19. An alternative version, launching early November, premieres the new, exclusive, unreleased Guns N' Roses track "Better" from their new album, "Chinese Democracy," which will be released later this year.

    hmm, another glimmer of hope

  5. Last friday I was at my local recordstore again and asked if there were any news regarding CD again, and again I was told that there aren't any infos about it.

    Great, isn't it.

Here come the conspiracy theorists-Geffen has all record stores under a gag order and the cd manufacturing plant as well.

Everyday, this year gets less and less likely.

i don't think such a gag order is as ridiculous as you make it sound. if you look at recent interviews (bbf, bach) there is clearly a gag order on those in and around the band. why would they let record store employees talk about CD if no one in around the band can?

i do agree that "everyday, this year gets less and less likely", though i cannot help but wonder if perhaps that is the way we are supposed to be feeling right now...maybe just wishful thinking, i know....

  6. Anyway, I'm not sure about the deep poetic analysis. I think it got lost somewhere between the trailer park and shoplifting the six-pack of Schaefer.

I think you missed the point. Those parts are just the dude playing with common themes stupid teenagers can relate to.

In the broader perspective, it's about an ideal dream of something that you can taste, but will ultimately lose grasp of because of various circumstances. The sweet melody and verses all reflect attributes of perfect bliss, but sooner or later the taint of the real world kicks in when the thing you cherished ends up in ruins. The turning point is brilliantly composed by Slash's solo, which in itself tells a beautiful story. It begins with somber, slow, bluesy notes, kind of a sad confusion about where things went wrong. Then, like storm clouds gathering, he rips into this raging anguish that grows in intensity, portraying someone on the brink of insanity. When Axl asks the ultimate question, he is at his lowest point. Everything is lost, but he repeats himself while growing more frustrated with the realization that his cherished dream has been forever shattered.

When the dude refers to postmodernism, I think he's trying to underline the issue of societal corruption. Everything today, even something as beautiful as love, has become dirtied by exploitation, the media, basically the selfish ideology of capitalism. Divorce rates have risen, kids are growing up under shit conditions, the poor get poorer, people jump from partner to partner with no real feeling of responsibility or grasp of true love, etc. There is little that is genuinely pure and long-lasting anymore.

good post. i'm in agreement with you for the most part. especially regarding the "story" told by slash's solo. listening to the song now, that story pops out at me.

i do disagree with your assessment of the trailer park and shoplifting schaefer's beer quote. i don't think that was used to appeal to teenagers of today. rather, i think the author is appealing to the teenagers of the era in which this song was written. while i was certainly too young at the time to personally have this sort of experience, my older brother wasn't....and i can easily see him and his girlfriend at the time taking on the roles of the couple described in the essay.

  7. reavy rotation on radio.

    Scooby Doo!!!

Anyway, I'm not sure about the deep poetic analysis. I think it got lost somewhere between the trailer park and shoplifting the six-pack of Schaefer.

i strongly disagree. poetry is often taking the ordinary and finding meaning and connection in it. i think this is what the writer is doing. the writer of this essay made a thoughtful poetic connection between the characters of this song and the lives of many of the listeners of the song during the time period in which it came out. maybe the experience the writer describes doesn't ring true for you, but i think for many others it does.

  8. great article...thanks for the post. i especially loved the bit about slash's solo: "Then suddenly, out of nowhere, Slash's guitar drops the nihilism of postmodernism, and lite-rock riffing gives way to wah-wah-drenched fury. His melody lashes out like the neglected cry of some abandoned creature, like the grasping arms of a drowning man." that's always been one of my favorite solos because of its emotional depth. its one that i can truly feel when its played. seeing it as disrupting the first part of the song makes a lot of sense for me. i'd never really thought of the song in that way before....as two distinct parts: an idealized part and a disillusioned part. makes me think of sweet child of mine as fitting in more with the more epic songs like nov. rain and estranged.

  9. 'Perfect Crime' was definitely a shock because it was just one random UYI song thrown in there.

And, for the record, I don't know Axl can pull off anymore. He gets winded a lot these days, and that song is a furious sprint to the finish line.

yeah i agree that it would be a hard song to pull off live, vocally. i think he could do it though. it must be possible, otherwise it wouldn't be on the list. they could put it early in the set right before one of the solos so axl could take a break afterwards.

  10. i was thinking the exact same thing. right now, i'm thinking its gotta be intentional. like it or not, it created a positive buzz and got us all excited again. i would not be surprised if we keep getting little teases like this until the record comes out. in fact, as much as i hate to say it....it makes me think it might actually be possible that they end up releasing the record without announcing a release date. i still think that's a crazy idea, but it would certainly make sense in light of their recent actions. they seem to be purposefully leaving the fans in a state of confusion and an announced release date would make things way too clear.

  11. yeah i don't see their contributions really making a difference in the release date. if they had both joined last week, i'd say there was a problem. frank and bumble have now been in the band for a while (if we consider frank as a member since he filled in on the european tour, which seems to be the case), so there has been plenty of time for them to make contributions to the album. i think this is more cause for celebration, than for concern.

  12. swayze, if the world, prostitute :chef:

    what is swayze?

and does it mean rhiad will be on cd too? <_<

i think "swayze" is actually "sway". somebody probably added the "ze" as a joking reference to patrick swayze.

back to the topic, i think the article makes it sound like bumble and frank actually are going to be on the record. makes sense that they would want all of the current members to be on the cd. my guess is they are probably on 1 track each or so, just to have a presence. if that's the case, i really don't think it should affect the release date assuming that it was done a while back.

  13. i think it is a pretty awesome track. rock3 i thought it was alright at first. it took hearing it live to really hit me though. rir3 to be exact. now i love the studio version too. honestly, i haven't heard another new song that rivals its energy. i would love to hear a more stripped down studio version though. don't get me wrong i don't necessarily dislike the electronic elements, but i think it has a little too many of them going on in the studio version which distracts from how rocking the song is. perhaps a more subtle use of the electronic elements like we've heard with better and there was a time would work?

  14. I think that them doing Live Shows is just as important. It's showing the people and the media that they're touring so that the CD is coming out. I mean this isn't like in the old days when we got a rare shows here and there.

yeah, i think the possibility for that existed during the 2002 tour, but not now. because they toured in 2002 and DIDN'T release the album people are more skeptical. as a result, many people don't equate a tour with a subsequent record release. releasing the album would create a buzz around them that a tour just cannot do at this point.

  15. i think the album is more important RIGHT NOW. the live shows are rallying the troops, so to speak. but a new album has the potential to increase the number of fans who will buy tickets for the live shows. this would include people who are newly exposed to gnr through the new album..and i think in some respects, a new album would get more of the old guns fans to the shows because it would make the new band seem more legitimate.

  16. went to the show last night,25th in tampa with my thirteen year old.where do i start,s bachs set way to long 1 hour,he,s got two good songs at the most.papa roach was good sounded great.guns went on at midnight, what the fuck, for seventy five and change they should start at a half way decent hour.i have seen them a few times before and know axle has his time moments but that was bs.just as the crowd started booing they started, axles still got a great voice, but thers so many people on stage with him sometimes it gets lost in the mix,i dont know how many solos there were but i think they started bringing people out of the crowd to do em.all in all it was a good show but the lateness of it sucked didn,t get home till 3:00.i hope one day all internal diffrences will be resolved and we get a true guns show one day soon.

i don't know if this is what you meant, but your post seemed to imply that if "differences were resolved" and we got a "true guns show one day soon", that all of a sudden axl's tardiness would cease to exist. sorry, but i don't think an old school guns reunion solves that problem.

perhaps you just meant that you'd be willing to put up with it more if the old band reunited? :P

maybe i'm reading too much into that...

anyways, here's my thoughts on the whole showing up late thing......i think at this point, guns n roses fans should not be shocked or offended by this. not to say that it is right for gnr to take so long getting on stage (especially with people having to work the next day, kids having school, etc), but you get what you paid for. people should know at this point that there is a solid chance gnr goes on stage late and that should factor into whether or not they buy tickets. seriously, its not like this is a new phenomenon. this has been going on for years.
