  1. Is this Slash? hahaha

Anyway to the author of this sick post. Dude you did analyze Axl. Are you a fucking stalker or just jealous like most people who are conquered by his unique character? Axl is Axl . He is one of the best frontmen in the history of Rock n' Roll. He has always partied like the star he is and deserves it. Judge Axl on stage , don't comment about his personal life. Buy the cd , listen to it and then judge him as an artist. Who the fuck are you to pass judgement about his personal life? Get Real

Fuckin A Right, and stop whining as well. He has given a lifetime of music compared to most rock musicians, perhaps we should wish for a movie like Mettalica and Dr Phil collaborated on, lol.

    "Enough is a feast"

I was waiting for a vicious reply like this. I tell you "fans" like you are as predictable as the wait for Chinese Democracy is long. Why not try something different? The "viciously attack anyone who dares to even vaguely criticize Axl Rose" has gotten pretty fucking old.

And no I'm not jealous of Axl Rose. Being a 44 year old has been living off past glories from his 20's and being best known for breaking up one of the greatest bands in rock history and taking 12 years to complete one fucking album is not my idea of a role model.

I'll step aside and let the Axl lovefest continue...

I tell you the asshole fans on this board tend to mutliply every week...

I guess it's understandable considering the "rock god" you worship is a complete dick.

You keep getting smarter and smarter, don't you?

You just ripped the frontman of a band that this forum is dedicated to. Fuckhead. What in the name of god did you think was going to happen? Axl the bigest part of Guns N' Roses. You ripped Guns N' Roses. And also you think you know Axl and what he does when really you know your opinion and noting else.

so shotdowninflames if you have a problem with anyone considering Axl as a rock god, which he is, you're at the wrong fucking place. This is a fan site. I would recommend going somwhere else.

    you've been shot down in flames by;

    A8R

Axl rules! And so do his fans!

    Axl rocks!

  3. Hey man, don't feel ashamed about writing long posts. We've all done it before and there's nothing wrong with it. You made a lot of good points in there. I think it's a combination of all the things we've discussed in this thread. There's not really any one thing about Axl that makes him the way he is, but one thing is certain. He's legendary in terms of fucking over his fans. LOL.

    Thanks, I appreciate it.

I think a lot of rock stars drive there fans crazy. And fans always complain about artists they like. Not everyone's gonna like the same songs or set list. Over at the official KISS message board (before they took it down) fans were constantly bitching about them using the same set list for five years straight. And believe it or not the band actually listened and played a totally different set in 2004.

That's the problem with the "love it or leave it" mentality that's emerged with Guns N Roses fans. There's always gonna be differences of opinion about Guns N Roses and especially Axl. But that's just frowned upon here.

But I think a lot of that could be cleared up by two things:

Axl releasing "Chinese Democracy" and changing the concert set list.

That way his fans could stop attacking each other personally and debate which songs are better on the new album. And how they like the new show.

If not, Guns N Roses might end up like Steppenwolf. Playing state fairs. :(

  4. Good post, but I will say that the biggest reason for him delaying the release is that he is AFRAID. He's afraid that it won't sell well, he's afraid that it will be panned critically, and he's afraid that it'll be panned by even die-hard fans. AFD and UYI are his cash cow at the moment. Whereas he once claimed that he didn't want to live off of AFD (during the making of UYI), that opinion seems to have changed quite a bit. I definitely think he's mostly just afraid that the MAJOR differences in the style of music will keep the public from enjoying CD. GN'R are no longer a hard rock band, at least not if we're going by the majority of the new songs we've heard ("Madagascar," "TWAT," "The Blues," and "CITR"). I think he's very self-conscious of how the album will be received, and thus I think an argument about him not giving a shit about the music is a dumb one. If he really didn't give a rat's ass, he would have released it long ago. But he cares too much about the public's opinion of it, and more importantly the public's opinion of HIM.

    W. Axl Rose is, after all these years, just as paranoid as the song "Out Ta Get Me" indicated 19 years ago.

Sorry about my original post being so long. (Takes me a while when trying to figure out Axl)

As far as Axl's phobia of releasing his new music. I'm not sure if its due to perfectionism, writer's block, fear of criticism, ego or all of the above.

I mean, this is a guy who said he felt "rushed" to release Use Your Illusion and that the albums suffered because of it. Both those albums took over a year to make and I don't think anybody would say they sound rushed (if anything 'overproduced' and with too much filler). Who knows maybe Axl would still be working on UYI if Slash hadn't helped him finish them.

And I do think Axl needs outside collaborators and has run into some type of writer's block since Guns N Roses first made it big. Most of the classic songs on UYI were written before Axl got famous.

As for as pop psychology, I don't think Axl's changed too much since 1991. He was partying, dating supermodels and treating his fans badly back then too. And flying around on private jets and making his fans wait. The only thing that's changed is that Slash is no longer by his side to help share some of the criticism.

  5. Axl Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not to psychoanalyze W. Axl Rose but I think as his fans we need to remember he's a huge rock star and a frontman. And most lead singers in rock bands are egotistical, selfish and difficult. Eddie Van Halen talked about "LSD (Lead Singer's Disease)" in dealing with David Lee Roth's massive ego and erratic behavior. I think Axl suffers from the same thing.

The only difference is since 1996 (when Slash left) he's had not one to keep his ego in check. Axl is filthy rich, owns the name to one of the biggest rock acts in history and most important of all, is world famous. Celebrity is like a drug. And Axl is hopelessly addicted to it.

Ignoring his occasional off the cuff comments to the press & vague management press releases, when you look at Axl's actions (not words) it's easy to see what his "modus operandi" is: Pussy, partying, money and... music. (And exactly in that order).

Since January, he's done nothing but go to gatherings with other famous people, get drunk off $1,000 bottles of chamagne, fly around in his private plane, eat gourmet dinners, get manicured, have sex with one gorgeous model after another, get in fights, play to millions of screaming fans in arenas and collect huge paychecks for playing festivals.

Not a bad life eh? And what does he have to do in order to mainstain this lifestyle? Nothing much besides show up late for concerts (when he's not rescheduling or cancelling them) and sing a bunch of songs from an album he recorded 18 years ago. And it's not like that's really difficult. Especially when you get to run back stage during every guitar solo and instrumental to use your oxygen mask, do a shot or get a quick blowjob from your celebirty girlfriend. All said and done it's 2 1/2 hours and then you get to go get drunk, dance, have an orgy & get your braids done.

Axl Rose, like a lot of aging rock stars, is driven by vanity and money. I mean, why is Mick Jagger still touring and torturing his body to look like he's still young? He doesn't need the money. At a point it stops being about being an artist. That's why Axl doesn't want to release his new music. The response to every new song he's played since 1998 has been mixed. And the crowd doesn't want to hear new material. He knows where his bread and butter is. And it's not in playing "Chinese Democracy" in it's entirety.

And if 1, 2 or all of his band mates quit, who cares? He can afford to just bring someone else in. Everyone's only focusing on Axl at the shows now anyway. And no matter who leaves, he can still call what he does "Guns N Roses."

Axl isn't gonna change unless he has to. The only reason he's touring and even thinking about releasing his album is because he needs more money. If not he won't be able to buy the expensive paintings and sports cars he wants. And he wouldn't be attracting beautiful models if he wasn't a working rock star. (Groupies aren't attracted to reclusive milionaires holded up in their mansions getting fat & crazier).

So if you really want to change Axl Rose stop buying tickets to his shows. Stop paying $100 of your hard earned money to see his GnR tribute band. Because as long as he's able to tour arenas and get rave reviews from critics & fans he's never gonna think there's a problem.

If not you're going to just have to accept this is the way it is & that it's been this way since 2001. The same set list, more album delays & continuing to be kept in the dark by Axl and deceived by his management. And very likely it's going to keep going on this way for many, many years until Axl drops dead or people stop coming to the shows.

It's frustrating as hell but there's not a whole lot we can do about it. Except take our anger out on each other on these message boards. I guarantee Axl isn't losing a minute's sleep over our unhappiness with his actions. So we shouldn't waste energy (or money) on him either.

    Later dudes!

    Shot Down In Flames

  6. Basically, I'm listening to everything that's out there as far as music goes. That was a big difference

between myself and Slash and Duff, is that I didn't hate everything new that came out. I really liked the

Seattle movement. I like White Zombie. I like Nine Inch Nails, and I like hip-hop. I don't hate everything.

    -Axl Rose '99

That's an interesting quote. Slash & Duff are pretty much die hard rockers. They don't deviate too much from that format. Axl's voice is definitely suited to kick ass rock n roll. But I think even if the beginning of GnR he liked penning grand ballads like "Sweet Child O Mine" and "November Rain." That's where his songwiting talent has always been. Singing melodies and writing lyrics about relationships.

The techno/industrial trend kind of died out earlier in this decade. I wonder if Axl got burnt out on techno too. If so Robin' and Chris Pittman's days might be numbered. :o

Actually Robin is more than just a "Nine Inch Nails" guitarist. He's got a lot of musical influences and is a very versatile player.

  7. Most bands, especially Rock bands, write songs whilst on the road touring. Usually when a tour finnishes the band head back to the studio to work on their idea's.

I wonder how many new songs GNR have penned whilst on the road so far?

Judging from history it seems like GnR has never worked that way. During the nearly 2 year Use Your Illusion world tour they recorded zero new songs. (Of course it didn't help Izzy Stradlin was gone) The only thing they layed down in the studio was a bunch of cover tunes for "The Spaghetti Incident?"

I've heard Axl likes to travel seperate from the rest of the band. I'm not sure how they work now. Usually Axl likes for the rest of the band to come up with melodies & hooks. He then adds lyrics to music he likes.

I'm guessing Tommy, Robin & Bumblefoot are constantly working on new stuff. Hopefully the band are now travelling together.

  8. Just wondernig how Axl's musical tastes have evolved over the past 20 years. And if he still enjoys all the bands he liked in his 20's (Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, etc...)

I know during the Use Your Illusion era he got more into Elton John, Todd Rundgren, Janis Joplin and tunes like "Since I Don't Have You." More of a fan of the piano driven power ballad. And then when GnR was working on their next album, Slash started playing "Snakepit" type material Axl told him "I'm not into that type of music anymore." By that point Axl was said to be heavily influenced by Nirvana, Pearl Jam and the whole alternative movement.

Then after Slash, Duff & Matt left the fold Axl became a huge fan of industrial music and techno. He even hired Nine Inch Nails lead guitarist Robin Finck. By the new millennium Axl was creating music that he and others compared to Queen, Beck, Pink Floyd and "Estranged" off UYI. A few years ago he co-wrote a hard rock song called "Better" with Finck. Showing his tastes may have returned to rock n roll.

Juding by GnR's set list Axl either really enjoys singing songs from Appetite For Destruction or feels he has to in order to please his audience. His other selections (Live And Let Die, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Patience, etc...) show his continued fondness for power ballads.

Of course, Axl hangs out with Skid Row's Sebastian Bach and Kid Rock so he's still got an affection for rock. And on Eddie Trunk he requested a Motorhead song.

Hard to know now if Axl is sick of techno and programming or epic songs featuring a string section.

The jazz improv and cover of "I Feel Good" at recent shows deepens the mystery.

Is Axl still the same person who tore the roof off the Ritz in 1988 and delivered inspired punk covers on "The Spaghetti Incident?" Hard to tell but his musical tastes are never boring or predictable.

  9. Regarding the whole Chinese Democracy saga, what do you think upset Axl Rose more.

The New York Times expose about "The Most Expensive Album Ever."

    NY Times Article

    or the leaked demos.

We know from the Eddie Trunk interview that Axl keeps up with things on the internet and his manager wrote an angry reply to the NY Times after their investigation piece. So I'm sure that headline "Most Expensive Album Never Made" didn't make his day.

What's funny about the leaks is that a lot of people think Axl deliberately let them out to see what people think of his new music. And so fans will recognize the new songs on tour. Don't think so!

Axl has joked about all the "dowloading mother fuckers" in the audience that know the words to his new songs. But I'm sure behind his humor he really resented the leaks. On Eddie Trunk he was still fuming about the IRS leak from 3 years before. Anyone who's sat on an album for 10 years can't be fond of losing money to bootleggers and illegal downloading.

Even though I'm sure he's glad people like the new songs, I'm sure Geffen is giving Axl shit about the fact nearly half of this fall's Chinese Democracy can be readily downloaded (for free) on the web. (in live & demo form only)

People also think the leaks forced Axl to comeback and tour & finally announce a release date. Not true either. Axl told Rolling Stone people would hear music this year and scheduled tour dates before the leaks came out. If anything I think it delayed the album further.

Bad press & people hearing his unreleased new music really seems to send Axl back into his shell. Hopefully he'll continue to get good reviews on tour. And certain critics will quit dogging the leaked demos.

  10. We've heard AXL say it would be out this year, he is touring, speaking public, "looks happy" out on stage, is he ready to finally release this thing? lets hope he stays true to his word and releases this darn thing. however, what if it doesn't come out as promised by AXL? Do you think the press will tear him a new one and never give him a chance again? and what from the fans? how will you fellow gunner fans react to yet another year of dissapointment and letdown. i mean yeah it's cool and all he his on tour again, but would you rather hear Appetite being toured again or CHINESE DEMOCRACY? He must at some point start playing new songs on a more regular basis.

To be honest I'm fine with it either way. Reason is that GnR press release saying the band played nearly half (6 songs) of Chinese Democracy during their NYC shows. Madagascar, Chinese Democracy, TWAT, IRS, Better and The Blues. So we've already heard half of the album. I'm not gonna die if the remaining 7 songs don't come out this year. It would be nice. But at this point, at least (after 6 years of waiting) we have a pretty good idea what the album sounds like.

Bottom line is, even though the leaked demos are incredible, in the end it's just an album. 13 million and 10 years of recording don't change that fact. Unless it's as grounbreaking and revolutionary as Nirvana's Nevermind, Appetite For Destruction, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Are You Experienced, Led Zeppelin IV, Sex Pistols Nevermind The Bollocks, Pink Floyd: Dark Side Of The Moon and other legendary rock recordings, Chinese Democracy will join the ranks of the thousands of other albums that rank as "great" but won't make Rolling Stone's Top 100 albums of all time list.

That bad thing is that Axl (and Geffen) have built this album up to the point that it's bound to disappoint not matter how amazing it is. How could it possibly live up to fan's expectations?

  11. GAWD DAMN! What's with all the cry-baby newbs on this board?

Shut the fuck up with all of your whining; it's so pathetic.

Axl is 44 years old, not 24. No matter how good of cardiovascular shape he's in, you can't fool father time.

Enjoy your last two-three years of watching Guns N Roses, cuz after that they're gonna fade into time.

    Fuckin' douche bags!

44's really not that old anymore. It used to be in the 1970's (when being over 30 was considered ancient). But now the Rolling Stones, Doors, KISS, The Who, Aerosmith, Paul McCartney, Robert Plant and just about every other "dinosaur" band are proving you can rock on well into your 50's and beyond.

There's no rules anymore. Especially since with medical advancements the life expectancy is 80 - 90.

In my view Axl is middle aged. And he's gonna be around a lot longer than "2-3 more years."

  12. No, what cripples this and other GnR forums is that you have a bunch of fans attempting to speak for Axl and be his spokesperson when we all know that Axl rarely tells us anything. These forums turn into a "guess what Axl's thinking" contest. Everyone trying to read Axl's mind. And it's hard to be a fan of a band in which the members & managment won't tell you anything. And you have to rely on fellow fans for information.

But what many fail to understand is that this is just the beginning. People need to get out of the selfishness of "Axl owes us" and understand that Axl will give us what we all want, but this is a staged plan. Europe traditionally loves GNR unconditionally and this tour will placate them, with the taste of a couple of new songs. What they are doing is priming for the next time they get back, where they will play more from CD, likely after it's release.

How do you know all of this? That it's just the beginning. How do you know it's not 2002 all over again? How do you know this is a "staged plan?'." Axl hasn't revealed his master plan. Do you really think he has one? He deliberatly keeps things very vague so that he will have an "out" if things do go the way he likes them. People will hear music "this year." The album will be out "in fall, late fall or definitely by the end of the year." It's not like Geffen has Chinese Democracy: To be released by 12/31/06 on their up coming albums calendar.

I wish more people would really think about the big picture, not about a bum note in a solo of a song played by a new member but created by the previous band. We will get what we want. Have some patience. Axl has a lot at stake to make this new band and his vision for GNR important in history.

The "big picture" is that it's been 15 years since the last Guns N Roses album. We've been promised Chinese Democracy since 2000. And patience? Patience is what being a Guns n Roses fan is all about. What other band could constantly change members, endlessly delay albums, cancel tours and keep the public in the dark and still have their fans remain so loyal?

If Axl would give us a clue what he's thinking. And actually present this new version of Guns n Roses as a band (meaning group photos, interviews and for god sake, new music) than maybe people wouldn't be so nit picky. But having a bunch of Axl loyalists try to tell us what he's up to, when they don't have a clue, isn't real comforting.

  13. Very cool to see a GnR show as it happens. Makes my broadband subscription worthwhile.

Unfortunately the mix was so shitty it's hard to really judge the show. (Bumblefoot's guitar seemed to be turned off). The band did look and sound fantastic. Axl seemed to be in a great mood. I was moved when he said "Thanks for putting up with me." They should show more of the band instead of just focusing on Axl.

My gut reaction to the show is that the set list copied 2001 Rock In Rio too closely, there were too many solo spots, not enough surprises (aka "previously unheard new songs"), too much dead time (jazz jams, "I Feel Good," "Beautiful") that could be replaced by actual songs and too many keyboards & effects. But then I remembered...

It's Axl's band! It's not the Guns N Roses that we knew from 1987-1993. That doesn't exist anymore. And tonight's show reflects Axl's musical sensibilities, personality and decision making. That's why he's so ecstatic. He's in complete control! No more Slash & Duff getting drunk & high. No more Izzy standing still on stage. No more Matt Sorum or Steven Adler to battle with. The seven other musicians onstage now are just an extension of Axl Rose.

For most people Guns N Roses by definition means a kick ass, dangerous, sex crazed, drug addicted rock n roll band. That's never been Axl's modus operandi. He likes ballads, healthy living, sobriety, monogamy and doing covers of Rod Stewart & Todd Rundgren songs. That's just his tastes. And there's nothing wrong with that but people don't come to a Guns N Roses song to hear jazz improvisation, 2 keyboardists, piano solos, power ballads, James Brown/Christina Aguilera homages & 4 experimental guitar solos

Axl should just call this what it is, an Axl Rose solo project. Either that are finally introduce us to this brand new version of Guns N Roses. Meaning, release a new album and a play a "bunch of new songs." The thing he promised onstage at Rock In Rio five years ago. Why a band that has supposadely recorded enough material for 2-3 new albums has to fill their set with a bunch of solos, jams, cover songs and "GnR's Greatest Hits" is beyond me.

And this thing about not wanting to play a bunch of new stuff before the albums is released is lame.

In 1991 the band toured for several months before UYI came out and played almost nothing but new songs.

The only thing that I can think of is that Buckethead's leaving really stunted the band's growth.

And that we're now starting over like in 2002. Trying to incorporate Bumblefoot into the fold... slowly.

  14. I agree Axl's got an uphill battle but he's got a great band and the new songs are amazing.

I just wish he would reveal both to the public in a bigger way. (the new guys & new songs).

He should draw a line in the sand and say "that was the past (Slash, Duff, Izzy, et al)" and "this is now (Chinese Democracy, Robin, Tommy, Bumblefoot, etc)" Here's our new album and we're gonna tour playing a shitload of new songs. We'll play some oldies, but it's gonna be all about the new.

Unfortunately Axl still hates the media so bad that he doesn't realize he needs a lot of press and word of mouth to promote this new band. He needs something big and dramatic that says "We're back!"

And releasing the most controversial, highly anticipated hard rock album in history would be a cool way to start.

  15. The problem is when Axl's obnoxiously late it inconveniences SO many people.

    - The fans who have to get up and work the next morning or who have babysitters waiting. And even without that, who in the hell likes to wait that long for anything?

    - The road crew who break down the set and & move it to the next city.

    - Reporters covering the show who have to file reviews for the next morning paper.

    - Employees at the arena who weren't planning on not getting to go home from a 10pm show until 4:00 in the morning.

    - And most of all, the rest of the band. Axl's chronic lateness is part of the reason Izzy left the band in 1991. (He didn't think everyone in GnR should have to continue pay the fines for going onstage late, only the faulty party... Axl). And in 92/93 when Axl would keep the rest of the band waiting for hours, they would sit around getting severely drunk which led to a shitty show and hurt band morale.

Finally, making the crowd wait that long only makes them more hostile and intoxicated.

Which is why Axl gets so many hecklers.

He should make it easier on himself and just do the show on time. Then he can go back to his hotel room and bang his model gilfriend, watch basketball or whatever the hell he does when he's supposed to be onstage.

  16. So I guess this was the set list:

I wonder where the "Rhiad" rumor started? Since they haven't played that song live since November 2002

  17. 8:15 eastern time.

Is there a way to watch/hear this live, as it happens? Someone said AOL would have video of it I believe.

I don't think that's accurate. They are on at 11:45 local time, which is 6:45pm Eastern. So make sure you tune in early just in case. I think the Darkness is on just ahead of GN'R. So just make sure you know what the Darkness are doing and you should be okay.

Here's where the concert's gonna be streamed...

    http://music.aol.com/network_live/concert_...S00050000000031

    They list 8:15 ET

Considering what time they went on in Madrid last night the start time might be more like 10:15pm. :P

  18. This is from another post from a guy that saw the show:

"2 hours of delay,a man said technic porblems, adn the band arriving in their expensive cars around 23 55,shame¡¡¡¡bad sound"

So they were supposed to start at 10pm, made up some bullshit about technical problems and then didn't even arrive at the arena until 11:55pm!

I hope this was just a bad night.

Axl could afford to get away with being that late in 1988-1993 when GnR were at their heights of popularity (and selling out stadiums). But Clear Channel cancelling the tour after the Philly 02 now show/riot proves he can't get away with it now.

I agree there's too much on the line this time for Axl to pull a stunt like this.

Hopefully the US press won't make a big deal out of this story (Associated Press, Reuters). It would send a bad message to tour promoters here in the states.

Thank god they didn't actually riot. That definitely would have made headlines over here.

  19. 2 hours of delay,a man said technic porblems, adn the band arriving in their expensive cars around 23 55,shame¡¡¡¡

    bad sound

bad axl attitude, making jokes with his band mates

bad scenary, what is that shit, the same things that in new york, with a bigger stage?I dont understand

    really,a bad start I give 3 over 10 points,in new york for me was 7 over 10 14th may and 9 over 10 15th may

I forget, the solos of the guitarrists are pure shit¡¡¡¡

Glad you got to go at least.

So they arrived at 11:55 for a 10pm (22:00) show?

Hopefully it was just an off night.

  20. alright, why in the fuck would anyone go to a gn'r concert just to yell at Axl and chant for Slash. For gods sake, the original band broke up years ago, and I'm sure that even if the fans didn't check the internet, they should know that.

Now I don't know why pictures of the original guns would be used in advertising - thats a dumb move IMO, but who knows why.

I was at three Hammerstein shows, these guys put on a Hell of a show and if anyone can't see that they are fucking dumb.

I don't care if slash or duff or whomever ever comes back, this is Guns N' Roses, and people have to accept it.

I think ads like this are what confuse a lot of fans...

It's an ad for the show in Poland that shows old footage w Duff, Izzy and Steven Alder.

    http://rapidshare.de/files/18086984/GNR_PR...HTRAIN.mpg.html

So people probably think they're going to see a reunion of the late 80's lineup.

They should use footage from the 2002 shows (minus Buckethead) to promote the shows.

Never a good idea to deceive fans who are paying a lot of money to see your artist.

  21. The problems: (what's keeping people from forgetting about Slash & Duff)

    - Axl and the new band didn't hold a press conference announcing the European tour. So the casual fan doesn't know what version of the band is gonna show up.

    - Footage from the 92-93 GnR shows were used in advertisements for the Europe gigs. Slash & Duff were prominently shown.

    - Slash & Duff were shown alongside Axl in posters promoting the gigs.

    - the new album isn't out yet.

    - no images of the new band were used on merchandise or in the press to promote the European tour. So I honestly believed a lot of fans in Madrid thought they were going to see the 1993 version of Guns N Roses of 1993 (with Slash). And since Axl's rarely been seen since that time he probably did look a lot different.

GnR wall of silence continues to hamstring them.

Axl needs to let fans around the world get to know this great new band.

And quit using footage and pics from 13 years ago (feat Slash & Duff) to promote these new gigs. Considering this band looks nothing like the 1993 GnR.

  22. From another newspaper. But almost the same thing

    http://www.elpais.es/articulo/cultura/Guns...lpepucul_1/Tes/

Guns “N” Roses, with the charismatic and outlandish Axl Rose like only original member of the group that at the end of the Eighties was able to vindicate for the great masses a rough rock, declining and urban, offered yesterday in Madrid a concert decaffeinated where they demonstrated to be dinosaurios in free fall. After four performances in the United States, previous to the European tour that the band has initiated in the capital of Spain, Axl in its nth attempt to appear again of ashes to Guns “N” Roses was received by near 10,000 people who jammed the gauging of the Audience Park Juan Carlos I.

The most staunch followers of the singer did not scrimp in saliva to adore to a myth that seems lost in being to itself, whereas a minority dispatched to taste with qualifying grotescos like “farcical” or “imposter-egocéntrico”, insults that one hour before the beginning of the spectacle seemed soeces and outside place. Those qualifying ones became true puyas when after two hours of delay the group had still not jumped to the scene, situation that heated the public, who dedicated itself to take seats and to throw objects to the scene while they insulted to Axl Rose. They were enough agreed of Welcome to the Jungle to return to the calm and finally to initiate a recital that lasted two hours. It's under Easy and Mr. Browstone preceded to Live and Let Die, version of a composition of Paul McCartney.

Too many parones After a good unnecessary beginning parones arrived first from many and. Boring a single one executed by one of the three guitarists who form the excessive establishment of musicians with whom Axl seems to want to fill an irreplaceable emptiness - Slash-, preceded to Sweet Child O' Mine, coreada with passion by the there present ones. Rose, who appeared with glasses of sun, cattle tenders, and the hair gathered in a coleta, underwent a new bassoon with the putting in scene of an eternal and future subject of his new disc, that took step to a single one of keyboard, that connected with November Rain. Chinese Democracy and the version of the song of Christina Aguilera, Beautiful, preceded to a new one to wake up of the public, who with My Michelle again returned to vibrate, although soon was calmed with the captivating Patience. Paradise City, closed the night.

Perhaps Axl Rose has certain fault of dispersed that his group suffered definitively in 1993 and of that still not has known to raise head, as it demonstrates the passage of the thirteen long years in which its hoped new disc Chinese Democracy has not finished, of that today offered a appetizer when interpreting five of his songs. And it is that the musicians who today replaced Steve Adler, Slash, Izzy Stradlin and Duff McKagan - members that recorded the huge for Appetitte Destruction in 1987 - managed to recreate the subjects of Guns “N” Roses, but with a little comparable attitude to the one of that cyclone that in the Eighties was made call Guns “N” Roses. What it happened in Madrid in May of 2006 has another name: “Axels Roses”.

  23. Err... this is a review from a Spanish newspaper. I could translate but it's real bad. Basically the fans were very pissed off with the 2 hours delay. They called Axl fat, SOB and they scream they were bored. they also scream for Slash to be back. There is an Axl pic inside if you wanna take a look

Here's a rough translation by Google

    (Oops. Nevermind)

Shit! I knew things were going too well.

I hope that's not true about them screaming for Slash and being bored with the new songs.

I feel sorry for Axl (he doesn't deserve to be heckled) except for the being 2 hour late thing. He needs to cut that shit out.

  25. now thats what I'm talkin about rock3

Thats all soundboard stuff, except for songs where Soundboard doesn't exist. We should *hopefully* have soundboards of all the leaks after a Rio.

but for some reason, I tend to like good audience recordings a little bit better sometimes, at least for some songs :) I think Axl's voice comes out better in some of those audiecne recordings. Theres too much Boston/Pittsburgh there, I'd throw in some Albany, Leeds and a couple others from New York in place of some of those. Still a very cool set right there.

    I thought you'd like that. :)

I agree I included a lot of Boston & Pittsburgh. It just those shows sound so good! I tried to put together a "perfect sounding" set. Something that sounds as professional as "Live Era 87-93" Where someone new to the 2001-2006 GnR lineup would listen to it and go "damn, this is a great band."

Definitely other shows from 2002 have some killer performances: Leeds, Pukklepop, Albany, Columbus, Madison Square Garden, etc... I just haven't found a high quality recording of those gigs yet.

Hopefully we'll get soundboard versions of a live "IRS," "Better" and "TWAT" soon.
