I love how Izzy is seen as unreliable WHEN HE ATTENDED EVERY SINGLE GNR SHOW UNTIL THE DAY HE QUIT.

How many shows did the redhead cancel or throw a hissy fit at ? Exactly. And he's seen as a model of reliability by some. The same Axl Pose who had his cover band and him bottled off the stage in Ireland during his last tour for showing up 3 hrs late.

Yeah, he's a paragon of reliability. But Izzy on the other hand, can't depend on that guy.

The lunacy of the Axl/nu guns fan is only rivaled by Michael Jackson fans

I don't think you can class somebody that quits a band while they are starting a world tour, as 'reliable'. I fully agree that Axl is a complete twat, but Izzy seems to have always done what he wants, when he wants. I personally think that is great that he knows what he wants from life, but I wouldn't call that reliable. The reliable people I know are the ones that hang in there through thick or thin, like Duff or Slash for example.

  2. It depends how you view him really. Some people seem to believe that being a 'session' guitarist means that you are not creative. However to guitarists (like myself), you realise the range of players like Richard is absolutely ridiculous. He can literally play anything, and play it in his own style, as he does with GNR songs. I think musically he is a perfect fit for GNR, blues based rock solo's with that Hendrix vibe going on.

I love Izzy as he is a founding member of the band I grew up loving, but back in the 80's & 90's nobody even knew who he was. On this board he has grown into some mystical being who orchestrated AFD single handedly, which is simply not the case. Izzy generally played the fill for Slash's ideas, and help to glue the songs together. Izzy's 'sound' are songs like 14 years, You aint the first and Dust & Bones. You can hear this throughout his solo material, which in my view is very far away from how I want GNR to sound....

But this guy on the other hand:

I apologise if you eagle eyed guys have already picked this up, but I couldn't find any mention of it. I need to clarify something I just saw. In this video, DJ starts playing the intro around 0:34. But then at 0:45, he is playing an upstroke chord and giving the finger (so badass), but the intro is still playing!!??!! Then at 0:50, he is 'playing' the intro again. I thought Richard or Bumble may have been playing it, but both of them are shown doing nothing while the intro is playing. Somebody please tell me I am wrong, and GN'R are not using over dubbed backing tracks??

  4. Era Vulgaris is brutal. Great album. Took me a while to get into it though and some weed.

Couldn't agree more. It takes a long time to make any sense of what it is trying to do. It took me a long while to get into it. In fact I only started listening to it again after seeing them at a festival last year. It has completely changed the way I look at music now.

Regarding Era a lot of people say 'how come fun machine didn't end up on the final cut?'. And the answer is simple. Because thats what classic rock text books would have told you to do. So Josh did the opposite.

Yeah Josh is a cool motherfucker. What did you think about Like Clockwork? Don't think he ever put out a bad album as QOTSA.

It comes across as a very personal album TBH. It shows a much deeper and sensitive side, compared to the normal 'fuck you' swagger. The quality of the sound, and mixing is ridiculous. I don't ever recall hearing an album so well mixed, even songs with tons of shit going on like 'Fairweather friend', you can pick out every single individual note of every instrument. Compare that to the 'one sound fits every song' debut album, and it shows how far they have evolved.

Is it musically as good as the previous efforts? Definitely not as catchy. Its the only album where riffs don't actually stand out too much. But as with anything that is QOTSA, its been precision engineered to sound that way, nothing is left to chance. I think it is one of those albums I will listen to in 10 years and go 'holy fuck balls, now I get it....'

That album specfically rewards you with repeated listens. It's crazy. But I need to be in the mood for it, which I am. I really like I Appear Missing, The vampyre thing song, and all the rest. The closer for the album is really cool too. What I like about Josh and his band members is that every album is different, yet you can't mistake it for anything else but QOTSA.

And there my friend, you have summed it up perfectly. Every album a completely different journey, but unmistakably QOTSA. This is where Chinese Democracy completely fell down for me. It is an album centred around the ideas and thoughts of a guy who doesn't play guitar to a decent standard. I get the impression that most of the guitars have been 'added' on top of Axl's original ideas. Which is a very different concept to an album that is 'cooked' with different flavours from the outset. What excites me about QOTSA is that I think their best is still yet to come. Unfortunately for the band I grew up with (GNR), its clear that the heart stopped beating a long time ago.

  7. Putting GNR and 'progressive' in the same sentence is quite frankly ridiculous. I don't even think Locomotive has a tempo shift? As someone pointed out, If GNR was a student in the 'Classic Rock Conformity' class, it would be an 'A' grade student. Let me give you an insight. If you take a guitar tuned in standard, you can play a G sharp minor pentatonic on the entire song, without it sounding out of place.

I love listening to GNR when I need a bit of sanity and easy listening music. My normal diet of progressive music features stuff like this:

  8. No amount of intellectualization from your insecure self will make me stumble or even doubt one second my own statements, which are infinitely more accurate than yours. The mere fact that I stand still for something, that even in your cold appreciation is "high likely", distances me miles from the apath(e)tic likes of you.

The 50-50 comfort zone for an opinion is too easy and I leave it to the dull ones :)

It's not about doubting your own statements, it's just that your statements are all wrong. And why am I being insecure? I'm the one proving each one of your points to be wrong. You can stand still for it all you want, it doesn't change the fact that you're wrong. By pushing it, you're only making a fool of yourself and I'm certainly not the only one who sees it. ;)

And, where did I say it should be 50-50? The possibility of Slash being an asshole is there, and could be very high likely, but like I said before, there are no facts to back that up. You can't claim something it's impossible when there is a chance for the opposite, even if it's small.

A mere speculation on your part, Mr. Maths. The proof I have is the same proof you have of Duff NOT saying the name. LOL.

Slash forgetting Stinson's name does not eliminate the FACT of him knowing who Stinson is. Just like when you forget taking your viagra doesn't mean Viagra was not invented at all.

However, Slash did not forget the name. He was quoted exactly as he expressed himself.

I don't know who Mr. Maths is. If you say the same proof you have is the same I have, then you're agreeing that you're wrong. :rofl-lol: The difference between my statement and yours is that I never claimed it's impossible that Slash knew Stinson's name or that it's impossible that Slash said "what's his name" in a derogatory way.

Why would it be a fact that Slash knows who Stinson is? There is no evidence whatsoever that Slash knew his name, and even if he did, you have no reason to believe he didn't forget his name. I feel like I'm repeating myself over and over because you choose to ignore common sense. Oh, and where did I say it was not a mere speculation? I'm not the one claiming something "it's impossible".

I use :) (and actually it should have been ) because that's my facial expression when I come across holier-than-thou individuals like you.

Intellectualizers like you, dull people like you, small people on an ego trip like you, will NEVER make me "grasp at straws" because before that happens I will certainly be dead from a laughter attack.

You have not proven my point wrong AT ALL. What you did is intellectualize and mathematize a latino soap opera only to make yourself believe you've just wrote 'The Poverty of Philosophy'. :rofl-lol:

Everything is about me. See how angry you are, it's actually hilarious. I mean, I understand you're angry because I wiped the floor with your flawed logic. I understand you're angry because I proved and keep proving you wrong every time you post.

"You have not proven my point wrong AT ALL" doesn't actually mean I haven't but keep living in denial. Just next time you come back, attack the argument and not the user -- unless you want to keep ridiculing yourself. ;)

The irony of this, is that neither of you realise how childish your exchange is. Even if you may point out factually correct information, none of you are 'right' because of the ridiculous way you try to use it.

" I understand you're angry because I wiped the floor with your flawed logic."

Regardless of whether or not you were able to 'wipe the floor' with someone else's viewpoint, the only fact that really stands out is that you are not a good person at all. Something that is always lost on obnoxious little pricks who think its a sign of intelligence to suggest their reality is more than real than that of another person.

  9. Holy shit, Axl does not look well at all. First of all, he needs to cut that fucking manky hair off. Grow old gracefully, keeping long hair when you are going bald just looks like someone unable to move forward with their life and let go of what they 'once were'. And lose some fucking weight, you are meant to be a rock star. Ruining your legacy (if its not already ruined) by being unable to control how many calories you take in versus how many you exercise is ridiculous. By all means, lose your voice through constant partying, singing, screeching and generally being a rock star. But its fucking ridiculous when one of the best rock singers of all time loses his vocal power, just because he is so out of shape his lungs can no longer provide enough oxygen to his body. Its really embarrassing to see him waddling around the stage, and out of breath just from SINGING A SONG.

  10. To be fair, should this thread even exist if the forum wants to able to confirm and deny information with management?

The thread exists because Subs is allowing discussion of the clips. We cannot allow open trading of copyrighted material though so that's why we've made repeated requests for users to stop doing so.

What evidence do you have that any of this is copyrighted material? So you confirm that this is legit music from GNR?

  11. I can only hope that this is a mix of samples that are fan made, with a real version of Silkworms put in at the end.

If I am wrong, and this is genuine, I think my 25 year affiliation with this band is well and truly over. It sounds like a blatant attempt to put an album through the 'R n' B machine' to give it more relevance in todays musical landscape. I have heavily criticised Slash over the years for his ridiculous collaborations, but in all honesty every single thing released in his name, has been Rock N' Roll. If this sees the light of day branded as GNR, its a sad day for the world, and for the history of Rock music in general. What I just heard, was over-processed pop, that makes Nickelback sound like heavy rock in comparison. Please tell me this is a fucking joke…..

  12. I guess in many ways, it confirms what we already knew. This is simply not a band, its a dictatorship. There is no inputs from other members of the band on the future direction and strategy, with exception to Axl. The other guys are just paid to perform tasks that are sent to them by email.

Why can't Bumble speak to Axl directly about what is going on? Why can he only get answers from the management?

'Once there was this Rock N' Roll band rolling, on the street. Time went by, and it became a joke'

    A FUCKING JOKE.

  13. I went to see them in '93 at MIlton Keynes, but honestly could remember very little (was 15 at the time). It's still hard to imagine it was 20 years ago, makes me feel fucking old.

I did a little digging around on the net, and found a great review of the concert that brought back a lot of memories:

    Charles Elliott's Review [posted 5.31.93]

OK, here is a review of the Guns N' Roses date at Milton Keynes Bowl, England on May 29th 1993. The track list is from memory and there may be a couple of songs that I have got the wrong way round!

The bowl was divided into two sections. There was the main one that was fenced off about 40 metres from the stage, and then between this barrier and the stage was another small section. The people that got there early were given passes into this area, and by the time we arrived, they were no longer letting anyone in. However, after hanging around at the entrance for almost two hours we were let in. This area meant that you were never more than 20 feet from the front of the stage, and if you pushed to the front you were within six feet. Absolutely brilliant!

The support bands were Blind Melon, Soul Asylum and The Cult. Personally, I think that Blind Melon and The Cult were the best, managing to get the audience moving on what was turning out to be a damp day.

GN'R were due on at 7:30, and to play until 10:30, but partly due to he fact that all the monitors had to be waterproofed, they did not come on stage until 8:30. For those of you that are interested, Slash was wearing a Sex Pistols 'God Save The Queen' T-shirt, and Axl a bright red T-shirt with a face on the front and 'Charlie don't surf' written on the back. Any ideas?

    Track list:
    Nightrain
    Mr Brownstone
    Live and Let Die
    Welcome To the Jungle
    Attitude
    Its So Easy
    Double Talkin' Jive

You Ain't The First * Start of Accoustic Set
    Used To Love Her
    You're Crazy
    Patience/Imagine
    Knockin' on Heavens Door
November Rain * End of Accoustic Set

    Drum Solo
    You Could Be Mine
Dead Horse (with Axl on guitar!)
    Guitar Solo
    Sweet Child O' Mine

    Paradise City

Axl was in excellent voice, although he didn't really have much to say to the crowd at the beginning. The audience was full of support for Izzy, with regular chants of his name. He even bowed to the audience at one point!

There were no backing singers, horns etc. just the band. After the first few songs, the sofa was brought on, as well as accoustic guitars and a small drum kit, and the band sat on the sofa. Before the set started, Slash started to play something on the guitar which got the crowd laughing. It was like a children's program music, but I'm not sure exactly what it was. After You Ain't The First, a pizza delivery man came on, and after throwing the pizza to the crowd, Axl introduced the bloke as the Bongo player for Used To Love Her.

When the band moved onto Patience, and got to the short gap about 2/3rds of the way through the song, Axl walked towards the back of the stage and Slash started to play around on the guitar playing the odd notes which sounded like John Lennon's Imagine. The crows started to hum, and near the end of the verse, Axl reappeared, and seemed to be wondering what was going on. He listened to the crowd and then quietly joined in the the last two lines. They then carried on with Patience!

During Knockin' on Heavens door, there was the usual sing along, with Axl saying 'Are you going to help me sing this motherfucker.....that's a nice way to talk about a religious ditty'. The crowd duly obliged and even got a 'You're fuckin' awsome' comment from Slash.

Once back into the electric set, Axl introduced the band. He called Izzy 'Someone you might recognise', and Izzy got the biggest cheer of all the band. Matt's drim solo lasted about three minutes, and then went straight into You Could Be Mine. After this, Axl was handed an accoustic guitar and then started to play Dead Horse. This was the first time I have heard it live, even on a bootleg. Before Sweet Child, Slash played a long guitar solo which was absolutely amazing, and then after briefly leaving the stage, they played Paradise City.

Overall absolutely brilliant, with no costume changes (not one!), not backing singers, no pyrotechnics, just the band at the best.

I remember that I watched the Paris 92 gig on the TV, I think it was on Channel 4 or something. So I do remember being a bit disappointed that it was so stripped back, I was fucking dying to see the inflatable 'Appetite' Monster that I had seen on TV. But it was purely a stroke of luck that Gilby had broke his hand earlier in the tour, and we knew that Izzy had been playing from the latest edition of Kerrang! or something like that.

As for the setlist, me and the four guys I was with were all fixated on 'Coma' at that moment in our lives. One of the guys parents had a "Technics' sound system at home, and we used to listen to the UYI albums on vinyl at full blast. I have to admit, that my previous thoughts of Coma were that it was a bit too long and drawn out. But I think that was due to the fact I had one of the cheapest walkmans going, and shitty headphones. I remember being blown away hearing it played loud on a good sound system, where you can really appreciate the subtle details of the song. So all the talk on the train was about if they would play Coma or not. Which of course they didn't.

We were to the right hand side of the stage, there was no chance of getting near the centre as it was ridiculously crowded. I remember Blind Melon being a good warm up act, but can't remember anything they actually played. My best highlight of the gig was watching Slash playing the outro solo to 'Double Talking Jive' about 5 metres away from me. One clear memory for me was thinking just how fucking 'cool' the whole band looked. To this day, it still ranks as they best concert I have ever seen.

  14. That's the kind of poster that I'm my opinion should not be part of this forum.

I'm sure Jarmo started out by thinking the same thing.

Best post of the entire topic!

    *****

Blunoze - the last part of your rant is what the problem. Obviously Axl doesn't "owe" us anything, just like we don't "owe" him anything. BUT most bands do in fact feel like they owe their fans EVERYTHING.

You can be the greatest songwriter, singer and musician in the history of the world. But if the "fans" don't support you, then you'll be working at Best Buy for $15 an hour and playing gigs at your local bar.

Without us "fans" buying Axl's records, buying t-shirts, buying posters and shelling out hundreds of dollars to see him perform live, would Axl be living in a multi-million dollar mansion? Would he be driving lamborginni's (sp)? Would he be living like a king? Would he have women all over the world wanting to sleep with him? Would he be traveling the world playing in front of thousands of people?

So yes. On paper, he owes us nothing and we owe him nothing. But let's be real. If Axl wants to be a singer and make millions and tour the world, then he does owe us something - respect and appreciation. That's a relationship that EVERY OTHER BAND in the world has with their fans. It's so weird how a few people on here (usually Axl Nutters) always say that Axl owes us nothing. My local grocery store doesn't owe me anything either......but if they want to stay in business and make money, then they will give me quality products and good customer service. Otherwise they will go out of business.

Axl nutters? Shouldn't be part of this forum? Unless I missed something, this is an open forum where people can post any view that they like (within reason of course).

You are suggesting Guns N' Roses should be conformist, and do what other bands do. You essentially miss the entire essence of Guns N' Roses. GNR has never done anything that other bands do. And it never will. If you understand the history of GNR, you will know that other band members ultimately LEFT because of Axl clearly showing he doesn't care what the fans truly think. In terms of mindset, Axl was more like Kurt Cobain in the sense that he also cared nothing for fame or worship.

Your thoughts may had had some relevance in the mid eighties, but whether you like or not Axl will live comfortably for the rest of his life off the royalties and touring the music which has already been made. If he does ever really need money, a reunion will make him a hundreds time what any new material release would. The guy is 51 years old, he has already reached his musical peak. He tried to surpass it with Chi Dem, but in his heart of hearts he would have known that he did not surpass the levels he set previously.

This entire board boycotting GNR, would be like taking a spoon full of water out of the pacific. You can scream, whinge, write as many letters as you want. But you won't change a legacy that has already been written. I can recognise that you guys must be quite young, and have obviously never known GNR to be on top of their game. And I understand that you want new music, and you want your musical taste to be relevant. But the reality is, its never going to happen. Your attitude is what is weird, you should appreciate the beautiful music that has already been made, as there is not going to be more to savour...

  15. I'm sure TB keeps an eye over here and they were completely aware of the letter and its importance. It wouldn't be a new email in their inbox that would make them aware of the letter. Just my opinion of course.

Exactly how often do you think they're checking in on this forum? I seriously doubt we're being watched very closely. Most I can imagine is someone from the management might log in for about twenty minutes every weekend or two.

I want to believe they are smart enough to know that MyGNR is a better representation of the fanbase than Facebook comments. I think they visit the forum very often. Aside from that, Manets told us many people on the camp knew the letter thing was going on.

What makes it a better representation? The GNR Facebook page has 23 MILLION likes, this place has perhaps 50 active posters? Yet again, your inflated sense of self entitlement is what is frustrating you. The only person with the authority to provide information (Axl Rose) could not give a flying fuck what you or I think. His or GNR's legacy will not be based on the opinion of members of MyGNR. The letter you guys put together is a very sincere thing, but ultimately can you imagine it being read out to Axl himself? And if it was, do you think he would even take the time to answer? The guy has never asked for your fame and worship, he owes you or I absolutely nothing.

  16. Weed is not a drug

Anything that intoxicates is a drug.

I don't feel intoxicated when I smoke weed...not like drinking.

I've never heard of people smoking weed and getting into fights or car accidents.

Then you have never actually smoked weed. I challenge you to go to Amsterdam, smoke a SINGLE joint of the weed called 'the glory' and then try driving a car without having an accident. In fact, I would be amazed if you even manage to open the car door. Intoxicated is a tame word compared to what genuine cannabis can do to you....

Back on track, drugs without a doubt influences everything that anybody does whilst under the influence. But this is the difference, were the ideas born when they were fucked up, or when they were clean? Because an idea or riff is not a song. You then build on that riff or idea, and something might happen. But 90% of the time, it ends up being nothing.

So its hard to know for sure. Yes, we know Brownstone was written about an experience WITH drugs, but were they ON drugs when it was just a riff or chord progression? Who knows, and to be honest who cares. AFD was fucking beautiful.

  17. This video pretty much sums up who should be playing lead on any new material:

I have no problem with Ashba playing lead live on some of the older stuff, but in my eyes Bumble should be the 'Izzy' and Fortus the 'Slash' for any recordings. Not that they are going to record anything though of course!

  18. Worst song gnr have covered by a long way

Are you serious? Axl's performance of The Seeker is one of his best vocal deliveries of recent times.

A good vocal performance does not change the fact that the song is shit. And to be honest, its probably one of the least vocally challenging songs you could choose to sing.

  19. Guys, I know you're all patiently waiting for an answer. You'll get one. Yesterday was an absolute clusterfuck with Invision over the site (recent downtime), as well as another GN'R related issue that had 100% of my attention (totally unrelated to this).

Subsy and I are in different time zones, and I'm waiting for his comment on a particular issue.

In short: Yes, I received some clips in my email yesterday. These were not shared with any of the other staff (or anyone), and they were deleted shortly thereafter. There are many people that won't believe this (and I'm aware that the longer this drags on without an answer, the more it looks like we're concocting some kind of lie), but it is the absolute, concrete truth. I hope our record of transparency running the site lends some credibility to my word.

What we're currently discussing was how/where to post this, and what our stance will be on "MSL" threads in the Discussion and News section going forward. We're still discussing that, and I won't comment further on this issue until it's been decided. It's Friday night here, and I'm on my way out (to go get drunk), so you'll need to continue being patient for a little longer.

HV, with all due respect, you guys would be crazy to allow someone to keep attention whoring with this and parading it around for his own personal gain. If MSL wants to make "friends" this way, he should do it on his own forum. This is supposed to be about Guns n' Roses. Not about some guy making a fan forum his own personal stage. He can pretend that it's a generous selfless act when preacher MSL enlightens us with some lyrics or descriptions, but the simple reality is that he just keeps teasing it without ever really delivering anything and using it to play internet celebrity.

You have made my day, I genuinely have not laughed this much when reading this forum for a very long time. Your direction changes more times than a weathervane in a hurricane. Firstly, MSL is a liar and has nothing. Now, its a case of 'even if he does have something, he is an attention seeker'. You then try to tell the entire world, that he should not be allowed to express his own point of view, yet your own point of view remains valid. If it annoys you so much, may I ask one thing? WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU STILL READING AND POSTING IN THIS THREAD? My advise is simple, if you don't like to discuss something, then stay out of it. You come across as someone who would tell someone off in the street because they are swearing. This is the best rock n' roll forum on the internet, with the best level of moderation. If you don't like it, fuck off somewhere else and let the rest of us discuss what we want to discuss. Who the fuck are you to tell anybody what they can and cannot discuss??

  20. I don't believe that for a second. HV is saying that for legal reasons. As if anybody on this forum would delete New GNR tracks that were sent to them.

Randy, you've known me on here a while and hopefully realize I wouldn't lie or mislead anyone. Everything HV said is 100% true.

Just out of interest, how would you know it was 100% true if you were not there when he received the clips, or deleted them? Your statement has made Randy's viewpoint hold even more traction....

  21. Good setlist! Lots of songs written by Slash and Izzy - that's what the public wants! :)

Axl plays 6 songs written by Slash. Slash plays 7 songs written by Axl.

    Try again cupcake.

Possibly the most silly post ever. Axl Rose or Slash have never 'written' a song. They have have wrote parts of songs, and without each other the songs they contributed to would have meant nothing. You unfortunately missed the point, that the public want this type of setlist. Dismiss this all day long if you want, but its a fact. The general public want to hear the classic songs, not Chinese Democracy.

  22. weird, when I tried playing along to london O2 stream I had to tune my guitar up to straight E tuning instead of normal gnr Eb tuning ;)

Chinese Democracy the song is standard tuning

I think you will find it is played in dropped D tuning

  23. No. There isn't! Merk was able to find the guy who had the full song, and intercepted it in time. No one has the song! Except for someone at Universal or in the camp.

Andre CC your a wanna be hoarder who got caught out talking sh*t about leaks you didn't have

your an attention whore and a complete f*cking idiot you bring nothing to this forum but that display picture of your ugly chud

do all of us a favor and go fuck yourself get out of here you annoying little cunt

and stop trying to act like you can tell people on this forum how it is when you don't no shit

I think you are holding back to much.

Ironically though, your attempt to belittle another poster has in fact made you look like more of a prick than the guy you targeted! Your command of the english language is appalling at best. The only real insult you have made, is to insult yourself by showing the world how pathetic and childish you are.

No. There isn't! Merk was able to find the guy who had the full song, and intercepted it in time. No one has the song! Except for someone at Universal or in the camp.

Andre CC your a wanna be hoarder who got caught out talking sh*t about leaks you didn't have

What i'm saying it's plain logic...you're a fool if you believe someone in a public forum has any copyrighted songs that don't belong to them... weren't you the guy asking about that snippet of that song from Rapidfire? that has been out there for years, and you only got to know it now... years after, that really shows how you're so well informed...

I don't wanna be a hoarder, that's a disease...Have you ever watched that show on TLC of people who hoard shit in their homes? Who would wanna be like that?

It's common logic that the songs aren't readily available for users in a simple forum to have them. Why is that so hard to fit in that brick brain of yours?

Anyone claiming to have songs is lying!

And for the record AndreCC, you cant possibly know if people have, or do not have any unreleased music by GNR. Quit peddling your assumptions as facts.
