  1. I hated Buckethead when he was in GN'R, but in hindsight - and in comparison to Bumblefoot - he was simply great. Granted, he wasn't anywhere near Slash on the old songs - simply because his style was different - but his shredding on Madagascar was really emotional. It sounds different when Thal plays it - not nearly as good. And holy shit, TWAT's solo was awesome! I realized after this that Buckethead may play with a lot of speed but he captures more emotional than Thal.

I also like his stage presence in hindsight. Buckethead's defining moment in GN'R for me was during It's So Eas at Rock in Rio, when Axl leaped off the stage at the beginning and Buckethead jumped right behind him. They were both in air at the same time (I think) and it just looked really cool, like they had chemistry together on-stage. And Buckethead was a nice throwback to Axl - a complete opposite.

Thal - what does he actually DO?! I was really underwhelmed by his presence in the band. I mean, the guy's nice and all, but I really just don't think he fits the image of the band. BH represented the move from bluesy-rock to techno-rock and his sound fit the "Style" of the new band - whereas Thal doesn't really seem distinct enough.

    So...I never thought I'd say this...but I miss Bucket. :o

  2. I lost an antuque American Indian bracelet in a bar brawl after this scumbag grabbed my wife in the crotch. I found it the next day in between the bathrooms, right where I dropped the freak. I bet someone grabbed his that was staying in a room at the hotel.

  3. Listen to this and then tell me Axl has lost his voice:

Regardless of how he sounds on more mellow and melodic songs like We Are Sailing, Axl has lost a lot of the grit he had in the early '90s. And when he does the "Yowsa" or "OW!" now it isn't nearly as rough or coarse - it sounds more like a screech than a roar. It's like, "YEEEOWSA!" rather than "YOWsa!"

BTW on that file you posted when Axl says "FREE to be HOOOME" or whatever, listen to the pitch he gets...that's what the OP was talking about...and when he sings "AWAAAAY"...it's missing the rasp he used to have.

But I don't think it means he's lost his voice, it's just DIFFERENT, people.

  4. and what if he's fired?

i don't think they would form a new band together, i can't see them doing that

He can't be fired. He owns the "band."

Whether or not die-hards care to admit it, it's not really a band in the typical sense. It's Axl owning all their asses. He has control over them all. He has all rights to the band name and so on.

  5. If Axl left Guns N' Roses there would be no Guns N' Roses. This is a rather strong argument point for people who claim the new bandmembers aren't really "members" in the same way as Slash, Duff etc. were - maybe once the album drops that would be different, but even then I don't think GN'R would ever survive if Axl left.

I mean just imagine how much outrage there would be if he left and it's Robin Finck, Thomas Stinson and, say, Kid Rock taking over on vocals.
