  1. Axl N' Company Ignite the Metro Centre

Submitted by Jon Careless on 11.21.06 at 2:56pm.

Once 11:50 pm rolled around, I'm sure many of us were convinced he wouldn't show. We've all the heard the horror stories. Even recently, it was reported Guns N' Roses cancelled their show in Portland Maine because they weren't allowed to drink alcohol onstage. I must say, I was worried.

But after all the waiting, the jeering, and the cheers of anticipation, once the first few bars of "Welcome To The Jungle" came through the speakers, the place erupted. For the next two hours, Axl Rose would have every one of us in the palm of his hand.

Through most of 'Welcome to the Jungle,' it was difficult to even hear Axl's voice over the noise of the crowd. The explosions popped at just the right moments, the crackling noise blasting everyones eardrums as Axl bounded frenetically across the stage. The onslaught of the guitars was even greater than expected, since the band chose to have three guitarists on-stage all at once. Robin Finck and Tommy Stinson were in top form, infusing each song with flashy, screaming solos that screamed 1983.

The concert did have a certain nostalgic feeling throughout, as I guess that's warranted being a Guns N' Roses show. During the sonic, 'You Could Be Mine,' a video screen above showed retro drag racing clips set against changing neon backgrounds. The video illuminated the stage completely as Axl screamed the lyrics to the crowd.

A personal highlight for me was "Mr. Brownstone," a song so obvious in its statement on the struggles of heroin addiction, its almost odd the song has such a raucous feel. The live version was even better than I could imagine. Axl, with his trademark howl blowing through the chorus "No, no, now-oh-oh, he won't leave me alone."

But I'm sure many people who attended this show will say their fondest moment came during the classic 'November Rain,' the rock ballad everyone knows the second it starts. The lights went down and the lighters went up, and the grand piano became the focus of everyone's attention. The crowd sung along with every word too, their hands swaying back and forth. The scene was exactly how I pictured it would be.

It appears for right now at least, Axl Rose and company are exactly where they need to be.

  5. For me I have no chioice I love the music and sometimes yeah its a pain in the ass being a GnR fan.

My question is really raised because at one time GnR were the most popular and cool rock band in the world and alot of fans became GnR fans simply because of the trend and the coolness associated with the hellraisers know as GnR. Some fans like me still see them as a great band and can safely say 'no man.. it wasnt coz they were cool.. its because the music was the messenger'.

Its now become evident that some goofy asswipes working for these music megastores can make a fan feel like a dickhead with just a few words and a slight shooray for tolerance! 'no..its not out..are they even still together... ha ha ha!' These knobsticles are the same type of person that 20 15 years ago would of been queueing to get UYI!

Man Id like to take a sledgehammer to some of these hip hop raptard loving motherfuckers!

i get slated at school for liking gnr,me and three other guys are the only die hard fans, they like indi and 90% of our school is run by chavs,

i still fight and when ever i get people in headlocks i make them say GNR rule then they admit it so i let them go

all gnr haters can go suck merck

  6. It seems this year has proven to be the most exciting year for Gn'R fans in over a decade. Yes, the album has been due for years but will all the activity and statements, it really feels/felt like this is the year. IF, IF 2006 ends and the promises are not delivered, will this be it for you? This is the most riled up I've seen the members here ever and the atmosphere gets worse with every Tuesday that passed. I think it could be devastating if they don't deliver.

i believe axl will blame us fans and tell us he fucking meant 2007

  7. In case anyone has noticed, Axl has about $500 million, and will do whatever the fuck he wants. He cancels shows if he feel like it, and he will release an album however he wants. The reason I mention his money, is that I doubt he cares about album sales.

5 TUESDAYS LEFT if he wans to release it the day after Christmas...he will. Quit cutting your wrist because another rumor turned out to be false. Oh yea....FUCK ROLLING STONE!!!!

this is proberly the smartest topic ive read today

    *goes to hug axlisold*

  8. Just hard to be posotive of late, the old GOAB will be back soon........i kinda like the nancy thing....oh the shame, i told mom i would stop wearing her undies

*hugs* Hang in there man! :(

LOL usernames new name is now negative nancy

    No, it's not -_-

    ok negative nancy ;)

  9. I am throwing something out there just for you to consider. Apparently, Axl doesn't think he owes us anything and that he's not on any deadline. He'll release the cd when he wants to release the cd...that is his choice.

Well, it's my choice to download Chinese Democracy, when it is finally released, and wait the same amount to buy the cd that it took him to choose to release it. That's my little way of getting back at them...small but self satisfying nonetheless. So if the album is released in '07, I'll buy it in 2020..if cd's still exist by then.

All that would change with an 06 release.

axl would just laugh at your ass and swear at you

  10. whenever we use to get news even if its small one fucking idiot but funny guy would always say

    "CHINESE DEMOCRACY STARTS NOW!!! rock1 rock1 "

    :rofl-lol::rofl-lol:

this would make me laugh for time as people have been saying it for months and its just fucking hilarious, i think its coz its overreacting and just plain unasked for lol but still puts a smile on my face

a few months back i remember seeing a topic about "axl shaving his head"

    then someone went "

CHINESE DEMOCRACY STARTS NOW MOTHERFUCKERS" lol :rofl-lol: who ever they were, i would like to thank you for putting a smile on my face in this dark moment of waiting for cd

dont bash me, just wanted to mention it
