  1. I've given it three spins so far - it's weaker than World on Fire and I'd rank it a little lower than Apocalyptic Love as well. The Slash/Myles formula is sounding at its most tired in this album, when really they needed to do something a little different.

Having said that, it's still Slash. It's still Myles. And it's still very good.

Initial standout tracks are: The One You Loved Is Gone, The Great Pretender and Mind Your Manners.

@MrSoftie According to setlistfm they played "You Know My Name" Chris Cornell's song he did for Casino Royale over the PA at the end of the concert instead of "Far Away Eyes." Is that true? Do you remember hearing it?

Yes this is 100% true. Another nice touch.

Also just in relation to security, it was very lax indeed. Lots of backpacks. Actually made a conscious effort to move away from some folks who I saw had just set a rucksack on the ground and didn't seem to be into the show at all. Quite scary.

  3. Absolutely incredible gig. Something I never thought I would see. Slash brings out the best in Axl and vice versa. Highlights for me were Coma, Estranged, Jungle, LALD and Sweet Child.

So many casuals in the crowd though who just knew the big hits. Chinese Democracy stuff went down like a fart in an elevator. Had a bunch of posing asswipes in front of me who during fucking Estranged decided they wanted to take selfies and group photos. Estranged is being played for fucks sake! People constantly moving back and forth probably to get other beers. And Slane was an absolute nightmare to get home from.

I would never do Slane for any band again other than GNR. That says something about how good GNR were and how badly Slane is organised.

Oh and in terms of support acts, Mark Lanegan is the worst I have ever seen. Miserable bastard who looked like he'd rather be sunning it up in California than on stage opening for GNR.

  4. I remember a time when everyone said there was a 0% chance GNR would ever reunite. And that was pretty logical, given what Axl had said.

So I don't see how anyone can say we'll never get a new album out of the reunited line-up. There's far more evidence to point towards it happening eventually than it never happening.

I think 2018 at the earliest though. NITLT will run through 2017, and then they need to sit down and decide if they want to keep the juggernaut going. The best way of getting people to come and see them again, and keep themselves relevant, is to release new material.

Download won't be happening this year, that much we can be certain of.

Reading/Leeds have Muse as a headliner but there's still space for GN'R to be added I believe.

Isle Of Wight or Glasto seem like the most likely posdibilities, if any, I think at this stage of the game.

Glasto is almost certainly out, I'd say. Reportedly AC/DC turned it down due to money, so there's no chance of them offering GNR what they would be wanting to play.

London would be far too expensive to get to and stay to stay over, i may try dublin.

    Slane isn't in Dublin though.

It's 31 miles and over an hour outside Dublin. That's only marginally shorter than the distance it is from Newry (40 miles), which is in Northern Ireland.

If you're thinking of getting accomodation in Dublin, it's going to cost a lot of money and give you extra travel. A better bet would be to get accomodation in Drogheda, which is only 10 miles away :) As for which airport to fly into, go for whichever is cheapest - Dublin or Belfast. Another alternative, given that you're from Scotland, would be ferry and car - get enough people and it works out very cheap indeed.

  7. In terms of the Ireland show there's not a huge difference in price between GNR and Iron Maiden - only around 15 euros, in fact. Considering that Iron Maiden are only playing 3Arena, I am surprised their prices are so high - GNR are about where I would expect for a mini-festival.

No Scotland, no Wales, no Northern Ireland

no Norway, No Easter Europe, no Russia...

    only one show per country...

what kind of Tour is this?

To be fair on the Northern Ireland point, Slane is a far better venue for people from the North to attend than anywhere in Dublin itself. It's about an hour and a half's drive from Belfast, and an hour away from Diblin.

  9. Trying to find out ticket prices for the Dublin show, all I've got so far is "starts at 89.50 euros".

Can anybody answer if the General Admission tickets are ALL priced at this? If so, I take it there is no allocation of where you stand? And if there is, how does that work?

Really just debating whether to spend the money on Nightrain membership. The t-shirt is a nice gesture but I will realistically only go to the one show.

Yeah it is pretty cool there, in March the weather will also be great.

There is a new theme park opening there by the end of this month, so you can go there too. You can go for the Desert Safari and Belly Dance show.

Iv'e been to Dubai like 10 times, I was thinking of going in March, but I need to save for England, so I might go there in November Next year for the theme park.

January - March is the best time to see Dubai. There's a lot to see in the country but the weather is a good temperature, around 28 degrees on average.

I went in July/August, at the height of summer, and it was brutal. Just brutal. We're talking day-time temperatures of 45 degrees and night-time of 36 degrees. It was a great place to see but that weather just made anything outdoors an exercise in endurance.

  11. Sorry if the wrong section or anything, but on YouTube I see you can get the full London 2012 show (with Izzy) in pro-shot HD:

It's also marketed as an "Official DVD Release", which is obviously not true...

So my question is how and why does this footage exist? Was this part of a canned project that got leaked?

  12. Guitar tech's job is partly to make sure the guitar is in tune - so they take the rap for this one.

I'm no Ashba fan but can't exactly blame him. He should, however, have stopped and got it fixed rather than continuing, so that's on him.

  13. Country: Northern Ireland

Hours: Fluctuates wildly - at the absolute quietest, 35 hours. At the busiest, around 55-60 hours. The average week would be around 45 hours (I'm a teacher)

Benefits: Standard perks of the job are the holidays and pension scheme; aside from that no benefits specific to the profession

    University: Fees

  14. For me, the announcement of a reunion is only a first step. In GNR land, anything can go wrong - Slash could say something to piss Axl off. Duff and Slash could get pissed off with Axl showing up an hour late. Riots at concerts - promoters pull the plug.

There's a long way to go and for me this won't feel real until the first show goes off without a hitch.
