  1. Thanks. I'm glad your dig the videos. I'm really happy my wife took the camera. At the last min I decided I didn't want to. I find it too distracting to be taking video or photos during a show. It's nice to have the videos even just for memories sake.

A few of things I forgot to mention...

I wasn’t entirely surprised that the set was so short. Towards the middle Axl’s voice was starting to sound kind of ragged. Especially on “You Could Be Mine”. He didn’t sound bad. But not nearly as strong as some of the videos I saw from earlier in the tour. I was fairly certain they wouldn’t play “This I Love”. Which was really the one song I really wanted to hear. If they did play it and Axl nailed the vocals, there’s a good chance I would have ended up looking like a 6 foot 4 fool standing there with tears in my eyes. So I guess I avoided that.

Jarmo was shooting some photos right behind/beside me for a couple of songs. I was going to say something to him, but couldn't be bothered. I was busy getting down to business.

Also, the selection of merch in terms of sizes was really bad. They had hardly anything in a large. They kept telling people they'd have more in a bout 10 min. An hour later, nothing. I ended getting the grenade hoodie in xl, which ended up being okay because it was a little small for an xl. The only t shirt in a large was one with a similar graphic that was on the back of the hoodie printed on the side of the shirt, the new GN'R logo small on the front and a diamond with blood running down from it on the back. It's okay. Not amazing, but I wasn't into the skull shirts and didn't have anything else to choose from anyway.

  2. The video quality on this one isn't quite as good as the others. It was the first one my wife shot. A little too much zoom, combined with having a hard time hiding the camera. Audio is still not too bad though.

  3. I stand corrected. My video actually looks better now compared to just after I uploaded it. Weird. I'll upload "Jungle" "CD" and "SCOM" later today.

  4. I don't have whole lot to add in terms of anything interesting that happened. Everyone else seems to have covered most of it.

I have to admit I was pretty disappointed about the set list. Especially when they started playing "Paradise City" right after "Liquor and Whores". I was bummed for about 30 seconds, then thought, "Fuck it. Who knows when I'll get the chance to see GN'R again and they're in front of me playing the last song of their set right now." I then commenced rocking.

Our seats were pretty good. Second section beside the stage, right by the isle with a direct view right down to the end of the ramp on that side of the stage. Unfortunately we were the very last row at the top of the section and the venue staff were literally standing right behind us. Which made it really hard to take video. My wife did anyway, but she had to hold her hand over the display on the camera so they wouldn't see it. Which obviously made it a little difficult when it came to recording. They didn't come out too bad though. The audio was actually pretty decent. Just before "November Rain" one of the ushers came over and asked if it was a camera and asked her to come with him. She followed him and when they got out by the concession stands he took the camera and tried to delete everything on it. But he didn't know how and got some wired error message. Our camera sometimes does that and it's no big deal, but my wife said, "Great now you broke it." She played dumb and wouldn't help him try to delete the videos/photos, so he said she would have to leave. So she goes, "Fine. I need to go get my coat and purse." Then he just looked at her and asked for the battery from the camera. She gave it to him and that was that. Before the end of the show, he gave it back and we still have everything on the camera. Haha.

I just uploaded "It's So Easy". The quality of my original file is quite a bit better than what was uploaded to YouTube for some reason.

Oh, and around 2:40 in the video, you'll see the awesomeness that is me. ;)

  5. I'm a little bummed out with the setlist as the tour winds down. I doubt that I'll hear anything like "There Was a Time" or "Catcher in the Rye" tonight. But what I'm really bothered by is they didn't even play "This I Love" last night. I like Bubbles and all, but if bringing him out on stage means they cut a song like that from their set...

  6. i bought 2 shirts but they had a ton

    my shirts:

The front image really looks like the state emblem of the USSR. :xmasssanta:

I like both of those. Thanks for posting the photos.

I really like the shirt I got from the 2006 tour. But I dropped two shirt sizes down since then and it's too big now. So I'm hoping to score something new and as nice that fits. A hoodie would be nice too.

  7. That's all I needed to hear.

Who knows what March will bring? As much as I would love it, I'd be a little naive to think the album will show up sometime around then. Or at all. But so long as we're not being left in the dark, I'm willing to hang in there to see what happens.

If the album came out in the next week or two, it would have been released just for the sake of getting it out. Then it would have fell flat on it's face and then game over for GN'R V2.0. If they are going to release an album like this, with the circumstances that are surrounding it, they need to do it right or not at all. It's that simple. It's nice to know that Axl seems to understand that.

  8. I doubt very much it will happen. But I did see an ad for Jackass #2 coming out on DVD December 27th. So if the people behind that seemed to think it was a good idea to push that release out quickly and in the middle of the holidays, then the same could still happen for Guns N' Roses.

  9. EODM are a REALLY good band. I've never seen them live, so maybe they really suck in concert. But I think it's hilarious that they were laughing at the people booing them and could care less about getting kicked off the tour. That's a much better attitude than Axl's reaction.

What I find funny is could they possibly been worse than Die Mannequin? I can't imagine they were, yet no one kicked DM off the tour.

  10. Oh, and I saw Del James walking around with Frank between some of the opening acts. They were on the floor looking up into the crowd in the lower bowl. Del had a little walkie talkie. I don't know what they were doing. Crowd control?

Del is shorter than you would expect. But everyone is shorter in real life. And has short hair now.

Also, here's "Sweet Child O' Mine"...

  11. Overall it was a really great show. I've never seen Guns N' Roses before and have been waiting since I was 13 to finally have the chance. So just getting to go to this show was a pretty big deal to me. At the same time, it was going to be very hard for it to fully live up to my expectations. But even considering that, I can't really complain too much.

When we got in line around 7:45, a security guy was yelling out all the stuff you can't take in. One of them was wallet chains. When he said that, he pointed right at mine. So I had to get out of line and take it back to the car. That sucked, but wasn't the end of the world. But when I came back the line was gone.

When I got in, we found our seats, realized they weren't half bad, then went to check out the merch. My wife and I each got a shirt, I grabbed one of the posters and a skull cap with the old GN'R logo for our son.

Around 8:30 Die Mannequin came on. They sucked ass. I like a lot of different types of music and lots of it other people would say is horrible. But that band was not good. The singer kept getting down in front of the stage. Every time she did that I thought, "Great, the time it takes her to go down there, sing and then climb back on the stage, means it's going to take that much longer for the song to end." Eventually they did stop, but only after a very long, annoying song that again involved the singer going down off the stage.

The Suicide Girls came on maybe 9:00-9:30ish. Not bad for what it was, but kind of boring after a while.

The Trews came on sometime after 10:00. They weren't bad, but not really my thing.

It must have been around 11:30-11:45 when GN'R came on. Everyone was going nuts during the into music and as soon as Robin started playing the opening to "Welcome to the Jungle" the place just exploded. It was pretty overwhelming for me and kind of hard to describe. It sent tingles up my spine and my knees were a little shaky. It was just a flood of emotions and adrenaline all at once. I did noticed right away that Axl's voice was getting lost in the mix. The other thing I found was they weren't really loud enough. It was hard to sing along because I'm used to being drowned out at shows. Plus it was almost distracting in a way to sing along, so for quite a bit of the night I just listened and took everything in. After "WTTJ" the mix got evened out a bit and you could hear Axl much better. It stayed that way for the rest of the night.

"It's So Easy" and "Mr. Brownstone" were both great. Everyone went nuts for "Live & Let Die" which is kind of odd. I like the song, but it's not really my favorite. Must have been lots of old Beatles/Wings fans there. "Knocking On Heaven's Door" was good, but sounded a little different. I think they changed it up a little. It was hard to recognize it when they started until the first verse came in. "Sweet Child O' Mine" was also really good and the crowed was really into it. I heard that Axl had been getting drowned out during "You Could Be Mine", but not last night, he tore through it and I could hear everything. The crowd reacted pretty well for "Better" given that it's a song most of them have never heard. They weren't into "The Blues" as much, but part of that was also because of some momentum being lost with the solos. Each time a solo came along people were into it and cheering, but lots of them started sitting down. Which I can't fucking stand. Don't come to a Guns N' Roses show and sit. That's insulting to the band. My wife tapped my on my shoulder and said the people behind me were complaining because I wasn't sitting down. I just said, "Too bad." and kept standing. Mind you the band kind of shot themselves in the foot by times with the lulls during the show. That would be one of my few complaints. The set list combined with all the solos was total peeks and valleys. They would start to gain some momentum, then throw in something slow or a long solo. I didn't really mind, but it was really annoying how people around me would react by sitting. They still were enjoying everything, just enjoying it like a bunch of old lame people.

Towards the end of the show the Ricky, Julian and Bubbles from the Trailer Park Boys came out and got a great response from the crowd. The band (including Axl) then played "Liquor & Whores" with Bubbles singing and playing guitar. Axl looked like he was having a great time and was laughing lots. It was really cool seeing guys from a show/movie that is done locally get that kind of recognition from GN'R and for the band to see how much people here love the TPB.

During Ron's solo he played "Oh Canada" and got a huge reaction/sing along from the crowd. He then played "Don't Cry". It was good, but I would rather have heard the band play it with Axl singing.

They then played "Rocket Queen" and "My Michelle", which were both awesome. "Patience" was next, then they ended with "Nightrain". After a few min they came back and did "Madagascar" which was really well done. The closed the show with "Paradise City". That was at 2:15am.

    Some random things...

I was a little disappointed about some of the songs they didn't play. "Down on the Farm" especially. But also "TWAT", "IRS", "Used to Love Her" and "Chinese Democracy". I know they wouldn't have played all those due to time, but I think one or two that normally would have been included got left out for some reason. "Down on the Farm" likely got taken out to make room for "Liquor & Whores".

The crowd was good overall, but I would have liked to have seen people getting into it more.

Although it could have been louder, the sound was really good.

    Axl sounded great.

Axl left the stage lots of times, but he always came back, which is all that matters.

Don't ask me to sit down if you're behind me at a show unless you want to be told to fuck off. ;)

  13. why halifax? i mean last night toronto was almost sold out, it was crazy there last night...

To be honest, yeah it would be kind of an odd choice.

But at the same time, Halifax is a small city with a show that sold out almost immediately. If they were to do things a little different than the normal album release/promotion, doing it in a place like Halifax that obviously is supporting the band in a big way, rather than some major city, would be kind of a logical choice.

Go against the norm and show some respect to some of your fans who usually would never get to experience that kind of thing.

  14. I'm not going to try and explain why, but my gut feeling is equally split between...

As usual with Guns N' Roses, nothing will happen.

    Or...

Halifax really will be where the shit goes down.
