In Total Guitar John says that he's playing more minimalistic on the record to let the others guys shine more.
He also said that they left some of the best songs off and might release them on the next record.

Great that he is talking about the next record, always the fear he might quit again!

  2. I dont know how RHCP fans can prefer the getaway over unlimited love, different level with John back. I preferred the b sides with Josh over the albums, the heavy wing is one of their best songs ever.

Even the lesser songs on this are better than anything on the getaway.

When it comes to I’m With You; I think the first 8 songs and Police Station and Meet Me at the Corner are all solid, but then Happiness Loves Company, Goodbye Hooray and Brutus are all ear-bleeding terrible, and Dance Dance Dance is cringe.

This new record doesn’t really have any “hits,” but it doesn’t have any songs that make my ears bleed either.

With John back in they are on another level,I like some of the stuff with Josh. But it just feels right with John back, they are kicking ass again.

Loving it so far. I'm also a fan of all 3 tracks that were officially released. Poster Child works really well.

I'm the same, but there are stronger songs than the 3 they released. I still love them, but better single choices on the album.

U2 are a band of brothers. They have been a band since they were 17. I honestly didn’t anticipate John returning to the band. Did you?

I always had a feeling he might return one day, seems to be a cycle with John and the band. Thankfully it's a phase with him back in the band!

It didn't really click with Josh musicially and this is a band that always cared about commercial success. They gave it enough time and it's probably for the best for both parties. John belongs in the RHCP anyways. I'd say Josh had more musical chemistry with them compared to Dave, but not perfect like what they have with John.

I don't really hold it against them, I imagine it's almost foolish to keep doing it like that when you have a chance to work with someone that you know can just elevate everything he's a part of in your band.

I think Josh's best work was the singles they released before I'm with you came out. Long progression, Victorian machinery are great songs. It's like they cut his balls off during  im with you.

Hm... excited about Frusciante's return, and I knew he would come back eventually, but I am surprised Klinghoffer is leaving because he seemed to be very dedicated to the band.

I hope they didn't force him to leave with Frusciante wanting to be back in the band. I like the two records they did with Klinghoffer, even if he was no Frusciante.

Frusciante refused to play any Navarro songs when he came back the first time, I wonder if he wants to play any songs from the two records they made with Klinghoffer.

Yeah I hope there is no sour taste with Josh, but they are at their best with John. Last 2 albums were ok,but just ok. John takes them to the next level.

    I’m so happy! I’m crying!!

EDIT: on the other hand I’m sad. I like josh too. I wish they were both in the band (like in 2007).

The albums with Josh didn't have enough "balls" if that even makes sense, although Victorian machinery was great.
