  1. Good show. Axl sounded good in the Arena, at least most of the time.

On the bad ones (like YCBM) they just bury him in the mix.

Oh and btw: going to an Arena Concert in the US must be  one of the worst experiences ever. Seats everywhere and nobody fucking moves at all.

  2. Hi,

I have never been to a show in the United States and would like to buy tickets for the standing area in D.C.

What really confuses me about the map at ticketmaster.com and stubhub: are the only standing areas in the venue the left and right pit next to the stage, which would mean that the rest of the floor level is seating only?

  3. I think it's certainly possible, if not likely, that he's not as emotionally invested in the shows as he was in 2010. Maybe because in 2010 the future looked brighter wheras now he's found out the label really couldn't give a shit about a new album of songs by the last band and he's stuck with the new band who he hasn't appeared to show much interest in writing new material from scratch with. So I don't think something 'happened' so much as he's choosing to sing cleanly both to protect is voice for the future and because he doesn't want to waste his voice on this limbo period. The same was likely true in some fashion in 2002. But you can clearly hear, right up to the 18/12/12 show that he can switch that power and rasp on at a moment's notice. Alleged bronchitis from 2009 isn't the issue in December 2012.

This doesn't explain mickey voice in 2001.

But overall I agree. In 2001/2002 some people here said that his voice was damaged and that he would never be able to use rasp like in the 80/90s. 2010 proved them wrong. It's not that his voice is damaged, it's just Axl Rose choosing in 2001/2002 and 2011/2012 not to use rasp. And nobody knows why. Especially since some all of his mickey performances are very embarrassing.
