  1. Eh, I didn't read all 4 pages of this thread...I'll say this...

I'm very lukewarm to the new metallica song (though I like the 2nd half...not fond of James' vocals, but like the instrumental part) and I think they passed thier prime after Black.

Once this is released, one could probably put together a 10-12 song album of pretty good stuff from post-black Metallica...I mean Load/Reload had a few highpoints....and this is in the time since the Illusions...

I *do* believe that had Axl released a few albums in this time, they would be far superior...but the guy needs to actually release something...else it's moot!

  2. 2006 got me back into the band...the rumors of CD release got me reading message boards like this one. I've just discovered about 6-7 songs since summer 2006...

i understand the dissappointment of the hard core fans, and I really wanna hear the album also...

but to answer the original question, in 2006 I burned about a 35 minute CD of "new" GnR....and while I want the entire album...I'm enjoying what new stuff they have revealed so far

  3. I love the Stones (as you can maybe guess by my username)...I've enjoyed getting to see them live, albeit past thier prime. I've seen them 4 times. 2 were just very good...and the other 2 were amazing unforgettable!

I love GnR...but I cherish my Stones memories more than my GnR memories

but would you say that GNR is in a lower category though? <_<

Not at all a lower category...GnR accomplished huge things with just a few albums.... Stones took well over 20 albums that built thier career...

Had GnR released music all these years, they may have rivaled a band like the Stones or Beatles...

I loved seeing GnR as much in 92 as I've loved seeing the Stones....but, there is no comparison as to which band has been more prolific in recent years (and mind you, on the 1989 tour, the Stones were considered washed up)

  5. I suspect "Better" will be the single, due to the sheep commercial and all...BUT I gotta say, while I've grown to like this song ALOT, it took a good 15 listens for me to really "get it" It's one of those complex songs where you pick up on something new with each listen.

I almost feel like IRS or CD might work better as a single, since the hooks are more obvious at first or second listen.

But then again, Axl has made a friggin fortune making music, so he certainly knows better than I...

  6. Well, last i saw GnR I had to camp out overnight to score even nosebleed seats. So it has suprised me to see attendance under 5000 at alot of shows. But ya know waht? Thinking back, I saw them twice on UYI - first time they cut the show short due to "lame-ass security"...second time they took the stage around midnight after about a 2 hour intermission because "I've been detained"

I love the music and I'd really like to see them when they come to Baltimore this month. But hey, I'm not 18 in college anymore, and to be honest, going to see a band that won't show up till 11:30 - 12:00 on a Monday night (IF they bother to show up at all) is just more hassle than it's worth. I hope the best for this band and I hope CD will be worth the wait...but I have never seen a guy with so much talent, yet so incerdibly awful when it comes to PR blunders.
