  1. everyones entitled to their own musical tastes. no matter how rediculas they might be. And if your going to judge based on what music the individual likes then you must have some issues.

  2. all i am trying to say is that grunge is massively overrated by the media.

No, it's not. Some of the best music of the past 3 decades came out of that era. To fail to recognise this is a product of either ignorance or sheer stupidity - and in your case, the scales are pretty clearly tipped in one of those directions.

i am not taken either sides here but it i think it's going a bit extreme to assume that this guy is aiming towards stupidity or ignorance. the guy got his info wrong big deal. i admit this thread sucks but i am not going to insult the guy about it.

Having the "info wrong" is ignorance if you ask me. He stated that the entire genre was worth nothing - what does that make him? Either ignorant (ie - he's never bothered to listen to it), or he's stupid.

You don't have to enjoy the music to appreciate it's significance or musical value.

He's being pretty rude to everyone here - I think I was fairly tame. ;)

i am an asshole and proud of it.

  3. it aint the distortion thing it's because musicians have gotten lazy and are half assing their work.

Did you ever think it was the bands you were listening to? Most bands are doing it for the money or the pussy.. it's hard to find a band these day's that really care about their music, and their fan's... you just gotta shop around... this is why I listen to metal.. because it's mostly underground, unless it's just rock that somebody is tryin to pass off as metal.. as most metal bands arent very populare and actually care about their music and the quality of the music, and most importantly, me.. the fan.. they care about maintaining their "sound", while stepping into other area's... a band like slipknot, for instance.. they have a "sound", that is all their own, and they maintain that sound, but also step out of the box with songs like vermillion prt2 and danger keep away.. I'm sure you'll never give it a shot, but thats what I would do... thats what I did do.. find something thats more satisfying... for me, it's bands like children of bodom, slipknot, dimmuborgir, arch enemy, cradle of filth... because it's not the same thing over and over, it's always something new and intresting... occasinally you get the shit band that just wants to play loudf and fast and it sounds the same all the time..

hey man i am not trying to bash heavy metal i love that shit. heavy metal is the only new age music i like anymore. i am talking about pop/rock bands and shit like that . heavy metal owns.

  4. alright i know alot of you on this forum think grunge is awsome. and i know i am probly making enemies by saying this but thats alright i have plenty of enemies. so i don't give a flying fuck how pissed off everyone gets. so here it goes.

seems this board has been talking alot about grunge and how great it supposidly was. well let me tell you something it wasn't it sucked. the trend started in 1991 then ended in 1994. simply because it got boring. i was not very exciting music. and alot of people did not get into it. pantera ended up exploding into the early 90's and was very successful dispite the whole grunge movement. and another thing grunge did not destroy everything else in the music industry that is 100% grade A bull fucking shit. grunge ended up taking the spotlight away from pop stars like modanna and micheal jackson. while heavy metal was getting their asses kicked by rap music. guns n roses and pantera were on their own. and in 94 pantera released far beyond driven and saved heavy metal. and before kurt blew his brains out. the pop stars ended up coming back and took the spotlight away from those grunge bands. then kurt commited suicide then grunge went downhill more. pretty soon grunge was dead. that is what really happend. so that proves that grunge was overrated. the media makes it sound like it was something that took over the music industry but it didn't. and in about 10 years grunge will be long forgotten then i wont have to waste my life thinking about the past.

    that was just embaressing

but I agree that grunge suck and is overrated

the only reason i said that was because there is alot of grunge lovers on this forum and i just wanted to let them know i don't care what they think.
