  1. Sorry if it’s in the wrong section but I haven’t been on the board in a while. How do you go about selling tickets to this show? I have a pair for A5, front row. Not looking to profit or anything, just want them to go to real fans. Only 2 tickets though. I’d consider selling one and go myself as my buddy that was planning on going with me broke his back. Literally.

Axl vs Kurt.....Axl vs Vince Neil.......Axl vs Slash...........all press is good press I guess.  Get in the Ring!

One can appreciate the depressing but sincere tunes of Nirvana and still enjoy the Sunset Strip.  Two different takes on Rock, there is room for both.

I got a lot of shit about my post and maybe I didn't articulate my thoughts correctly, but the angst and annoyance in my post/still is towards Mr. Cobain being kind of a fake fraud in the way he tried to portray himself as troubled, riddled, mopey dopey, everything in the world sucks and is commercial and horrible, blah blah blah.

I find it interesting when you say one can appreciate the depressing, but sincere tunes of Nirvana.

I for one can't respect it at all especially when Mr. Cobain says (I'm paraphrasing for the most part) "people want to read into our music when the lyrics I wrote were just, garbled, just garbage that spewed out of me at the last second because I'm lazy then I find myself trying to come up with an explanation."

I'm not taking anything away from the music the others in the band created.  I think it's genuinely good.  I'm taking away from the front man who seems to be fake at times then rags on GN'R saying they're fake and manufactured.

  3. Greetings all.  I don't post often, but Mr. Cobain gets my blood boiling.  Believe me, I was a ranting and raving young, dumb and full of cum 16 year old when Mr. Cobain died.  You have to give respect to a man who blows his head off shortly after bringing a child into the world.  Yup, www.responsible.com.  I just made that up.  Not sure if it's a real site.

Even my hot girlfriend wore an RIP Kurt shirt after he passed.  I just remember being confused as to why people thought that Nirvana was a better band lyrically and musically than a band who wrote Jungle, Nightrain, Patience, One In A Million, Breakdown, Coma, Pretty Tied Up, Don't Cry, Estranged, November Rain, etc.  I was going out of my mind trying to explain to people all of the different vocal styles Axl had vs. Kurt and the difference in the music.  Just November Rain alone with the different solos helped make my point, but people were stuck on the "Yeah, but he's different and a tortured soul and says what he feels." bandwagon.  What in the fucking fuck were they talking about?  Regarding bands of that era, look at Pearl Jam, they were much better live and on record than Nirvana in my opinion.  Oh and the lead singer didn't decided to just end it all cuz he had a bad day.

I'm just not a fan and I believe he was on the fake side by pretending that all that was popular was uncool and being different was the way to be.  I really think he just tried being different for the sake of being different.  I lost all respect for Mr. Cobain when I heard this interview a while back.  Just my 2 cents.

This was posted on Yahoo's front page. A few interesting quotes from promoters and ex-managers.

I'm just excited that they might... JUST MIGHT... actually be on stage together. That's good enough for me. I'm curious if any of the former lead guitarists will make any type of appearance aside from Tommy. That would be interesting. It seems like Tommy would make an appearance at some point if this thing actually takes off.

I'm tired of everyone trying to pick every little thing apart into a million pieces.

If you're a true long time G'NR fan, old and new, you're smart enough to know that you don't know. At all. Ever. Unless you're a real insider like Mr. Fernan... something or other. I don't recall.

  5. -Remove the unnecessary songs

    Live and Let Die

    Garden of Eden

    Bad Apples

    Dead Horse

    Knockin' on Heaven's Door

    Get in the Ring

    Shotgun Blues

    Breakdown

    So Fine

    Don't Cry (alt)

    My World

-Remove Slash's rhythm guitar parts, replace them with anything

-Put Izzy higher in the mix in the songs he is on

-Drop the reverb on Matt's drums

-Drop some of the more extravagant sound effects

    Breakdown?!? Are you serious?

  6. Steven cover! :P

I've actually met Marc and spoke with him for about 45 minutes. He was the nicest and most humble guy... (and he had some AWESOME personal stories). He actually said that the Steven cover was EXTREMELY popular! It wasn't the highest selling one, but very very popular. I imagine it was due to not many being produced because of the popularity of the other members versus Steven, but he said he's always sold out of those when I was at his restaurant.

    Just my 2 cents.

  7. Someone in the chat just said: did anyone pay for this? you guys do realize it was free...

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing because I didn't have to log into anything on our laptop...

    Same here...

Can someone explain how this can be seen right now for free? Thanks all.

  8. Just to give a totally random AND VERY unrelated perspective, a close friend of mine was hired on as a tour drummer for 30 Seconds to Mars and got about $3k per show.

Now before the idiots on here start assuming or guessing or whatever, this was just a simple & isolated example. He didn't write or contribute to the actual material being played or performed. It was just was he was being payed for performing on the live shows. He did however continue and get involved with the band, but that doesn't have anything to do with what he was paid for his performances.

I'm not saying the circumstances were the same, I'm not saying 30 Seconds to Mars is anywhere close to the GN'R universe, I'm just giving an example.

  9. and then jarmo:

Ok, so this seems to be FAKE.

Why don't people believe someone on the inside? People always ask for insider info then when they get something that doesn't appeal to them they bitch? I seriously don't get it.

  10. Madagascar. While I dig some of the vocal range, I never liked the song as a whole. Plus I think it's kind of weird that he added the same bits from Cool Hand Luke as he did in Civil War.

Also maybe It's So Easy unless he started singing it more like he did back in the day. You can hardly hear Axl when he sings in the super low baritone. You hear Tommy more and whoever else is singing back up.

  11. Fuck cancer. You can beat this. Stay strong and optimistic. I know it's easier said than done, but do it.

My fiance's father was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2004. It's a semi-rare form of cancer related to the bones and bone marrow. They gave him 6 months to live. It's 2010 and he's still alive and kicking. This is a 74 year old Korean man who was in the military when he was young, smoked 1-2 packs per day and drank on a fairly regular basis FOR NEARLY 50 YEARS since his early 20's. He changed his bad habits, stopped smoking and drinking, did several treatments and chemo cycles and he's doing fine. Not perfect, but he's still alive, has relatively low discomfort and pain, but most importantly he appreciates the fuck out of life and cherishes every moment and pleasure regardless of how minor or major it is.

I know your case is different, but I wanted to share how anything is possible.

Good luck to you and please reach out if you need anything.

    Peace. rock3

  12. Some of Axl's best work, only played live twice, this being the only recording we have of it..

It's an absolutely beautiful fucking song and deserves more than 2 total performances. I would shit myself if the new lineup played it, anyone agree?

<--- well I guess you could say I'm a fan of this song... ;) however much I'd love to hear it played now, I doubt it will be. I've read about the difficulty of it being played live a few times in past interviews.

and by the way, that isn't the only live recording we have. I've heard 2 live recordings, but I believe there are 3 total.

  13. I got that Revolver. it had a nice article remembering The Rev from Avenged Sevenfold and a very cool poster of him too.

Yeah, it shows a young Axl with his tattoos. Of course, it mentioned the story about Axl's cross tattoo and how the record company looked at it and loved it so much they made it the album cover. I actually the story was the other way around, but hey it's even cooler knowing Axl thought up the tattoo first. Unfortunately, we all know that Axl has blackened out the faces except for his, which I think was a huge mistake. That tattoo was amazing and since it was of a good time in his life, he should have kept it. I guess he was in an angry stage when he had it done, but I bet he regrets it sometimes.

He didn't black them out. It's clear that he didn't from multiple pics. The pic from Baz's booklet in particular comes to mind.
