  1. The Cure - Just Like Heaven (only when he gets to that "And found myself alone, alone, alone above the raging sea, that stole the only girl I loved, that drowned her her deep inside of me) I always get a lump in my throat at that part :(

That's funny cause Robert Smith has been quoted as saying Just Like Heaven is his favorite song to play live as it's 3 minutes of pure bliss.

  2. Def Leppard and mötley crüe are my favorites of those

Poison for reasons I stated in teh other thread. They embodied what hair metal was alll about more so than any other band. They were the poster childs of the genre. I don't like them the best but they were the best "hair metal" band. Like I said before when you say "hair metal" it's Posion who comes to mind first and foremost.

  3. I voted for Poison because I don't think Motley Crue is a typical hairband. They're unfairly lumped in with these other bands. Motley Crue was just too heavy to be a hairband in my opinion. I think Poison was the epitome of hairbands and they were the most popular too. Be honest when you think "hairband" who comes to mind first, Poison or Motley Cure? That's right, now 11 of you are thinking you need to change your vote I know it. :rofl-lol::tongue2:

  4. Trust - the Cure

    The Scientist - Coldplay http://youtube.com/watch?v=V3Kd7IGPyeg

  5. This band is the epitomy of boring in my opinion. how in the world they ever gained such a following is well beyond me. It's just the same song over and over and over again and it sucks. Definately not my cup of tea that's for sure. Probably biggest "I don't give two shits about them one way or the other" band I know of. They're really not even interesting enough to dislike if that makes any sense. They're just completely irrelevant. I'm amazed I even took the time to post in this thread. Probably because I agreed with the topic description Gallagher Rose gave.

  6. I don't mind Rihanna. She does sound different that all the other poptarts out there right now. Plus she's so fucking sexy. Umbrella's alright. Here's a video montage set to her new song Breakin' Dishes http://youtube.com/watch?v=5HVJg0WCBHI and here's her currently single Shut Up and Drive http://youtube.com/watch?v=MgrgvN0EIWo and another video momnatage featuring Please Don't Stop the Music http://youtube.com/watch?v=Dk8NQB_T1ws Say what you want about her but all these songs mentioned are massive hits in the clubs and that's basically what this music is for so...

    but yeah she's hot.

  7. Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Disintegration(1989) is far from the Cure's best album but for whatever reason it's been labbeled their masterpeice. It's the cliche answer for those who don't really know the Cure. In fact I'd credit alot of the album's hype to the show South Park when Robert Smith saves the day and one of the kids yells "Disintegration is the greatest album ever!" the album is fantastic but it's a mood album that you need to be in the right frame of mind at the time to enjoy. It's not an album you can throw on at a party, it's not a typically good driving album, it's not good for sunny afternoons. Like I said it's a mood album and the atmosphere needs to fit. Why this album is regarded as the be all end all Cure album is beyond me.

For me the best Cure album in terms of running order is their live album Show(1993). From start to finish it's far and away the strongest Cure album in terms of song selection. Their best album in my mind if you're looking for catchy pop songs is Wild Mood Swings(1996) but like all Cure albums it's got it's fair share of slow sad love songs as well the epic rockish opener Want. Bloodflowers(2000) in my opinion should be the Cure album that gets the praise Disintegration gets as it's dark, sad, gloomy but has some pop to it. It's a much better album in my opinion that Disintegration. Pornography(1982) is a great gothic rock album but it gets alot more praise now than it deserves in my opinion based off the whole trilogy thing. Having said this, the DVD Trilogy which features the band playing all songs in order from the albums Pornography, Disintegration and Bloodflowers is absolutely amazing.

The Cure is a really hard band to recommend one album to people cause they are all so different and I don't think any of the best of albums represent the band overly well. The best advice I could give a Cure beginer would be to go out and buy their live albums Show which I mentioned as well as Paris(1992). These albums showcase the best of the band from the beginings right up to and including their Wish(1992) album, and in alot of cases the live recordings are better than the originals. For interest sake my three favorite Cure albums are:

Kiss me Kiss me Kiss me(1987, features one of the greatest pop songs ever - Just Like Heaven)

Wish(1992, had the hit single Friday I'm in Love)

Bloodflowers(probably the best overall representation of the Cure in my opinion)

The one album to stay away from unless your a hardcore fan is the self title album that came out in 2004. This album to me is not at all representative of what the Cure is about other than Smith's lyrics. There's too much distortion, too much rock and too much screaming on Smith's part. It's just not anything you'd expect form The Cure. At least it wasn't for me.

hopefully this was helpfull in some way. :)

  8. Yeah you're right. Artists doing covers for an extremely great cause is shamefull. It's disgusting and should be outlawed. Songs are ment to be coverd. Get over it. If it's a bad cover oh well, if it's good than great. Do any of these covers ruin the original? No. So what's the big deal? The only problem I see here is snobbish attitudes when it comes to music.
