  1. Does anyone else get tired of albums constantly being remastered? There are definitely some that need it, but I already own all of The Beatles' albums and they sound just fine. I hope people will quit buying into this crap.

Now what I wouldn't mind is if they released all of the unheard Beatles material. That perhaps is what needs remastering since it likely didn't receive the same mixing treatment album material did.

  2. it's worth whatever anyone is willing to pay for it... which probablly isn't much.

i think it's kinda amusing that a fairly large proportion of the GNR community thinks they are going to get rich by buying and saving Chinese Democracy vinyls, singles, etc.

if you're looking for a real return on your money, put it into real estate, especially now when property values are super super super low. hold onto these for 25 years, sell 'em, and retire. forget about chinese democracy vinyls LOLOLO

anyone who says "LOLOLO" should be shot...

What if a person's name is LOLOLO and you've gotten some of their mail by mistake so you knock on their door to give it to them and when you knock on the door their butler answers and you ask "Is LOLOLO around?" Even then?

  3. any band that takes that long to put out an album is just out for money.

Ok, now this just doesn't make sense. If Axl were out for money why would he spend all those years in the studio which cost a shitload of money? If he were really out for money the album wouldn't have taken nearly as long to make and he'd have had it finished by 2000 to get the bonus Geffen offered him.

He'd also have reunited with the Appetite lineup because there's likely a lot more money to be had playing with them rather than whoever is in the band this week. When people say Axl isn't motivated by money I think that's really true. Look at all the great financial opportunities Axl has passed up. On one hand you have Gene Simmons who is an asshole but can make money on anything. Then on the other you have Axl who can be a real jackass and happens to dodge so many great business deals.

  4. Numbers DO mean shit if you want to hear more music from Axl again.

    1. The Spaghetti Incident didn't do so well in comparison to GNR's other albums.

    2. Live Era didn't do so well in comparison to GNR's other albums.

    3. The Oh My God single and End Of Days soundtrack didn't do so well in comparison to GNR's other singles and other soundtracks featuring their music.

    4. There have been musicians that have been dropped from a label due to album sales and have signed with another, and have gone on to put out new music.

    5. Axl could go the Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead route by self releasing.

    6. Supposedly during the Chinese Democracy sessions there was a shitload of material recorded. Given how many of the songs on Chinese Democracy leaked before there was a release date in sight it's definitely in the realm of possibility that more material could be leaked, though I don't support that and want a proper release.

    7. Who is to say Axl would even want to release another album? There has been talk about the rumored trilogy from third parties, but there was also talk from Axl of all people that there would be an album out in the early 2000's, and then in 2006. Supposedly this was the last thing Axl owed Geffen. If this thing did better than all the GNR albums combined they couldn't force him to put another one out, and the big thing to consider especially with album sales is Axl isn't motivated by money. If he were Chinese Democracy would have come out in 2000 so he'd have gotten the bonus from Geffen and then he'd reunite with the popular lineup where the real big bucks likely are.

    8. This partly goes back to number 4, but look up the album sales for Bring'Em Bach Alive and Bach 2: Basics. Compare them to Skid Row's first few albums and you'll see they didn't do as well in comparison. Then consider after going from a successful band to two albums which weren't hits that Sebastian Bach got a record deal and released Angel Down which also didn't do spectacular. If Sebastian Bach could put out two albums that weren't hits and then get signed to a record label and puts out an album which didn't make much noise other on the CD, certainly Axl could.

    9. You're wrong.

    10.

    11. ppruks made the best post in this topic.

    12. I'd like to end this list on an even number.

  5. I think they'll both do just fine in sales....provided a certain one actually comes out. The only problem you'll have no matter what is how much CD cost to make. Even if it sells well and/or sells more than Michael Jackson's album they still may not turn a huge profit on it. By selling less copies he probably stands to make more of a profit at least in the early going than GNR will.

  6. First off congrats to Robin Finck for not taking over a decade to be part of a product that's only form isn't a 160kbps MP3 leak.

Also major congrats to Trent Reznor for not staying back in the jurassic period with the rest of the music industry and showing that creativity can go hand in hand with new technology. You also get bonus points for showing your appreciation towards your fans unlike...well most of the music industry but I was also thinking of someone in particular here.

I'm not really a Nine Inch Nails fan. There are a few Nine Inch Nails songs I like but for some reason I never looked into their catalog minus the songs that usually get airplay. I'm going to listen to this album and see how I like it and from there might take a look at some older works I never got around to. Musicians could and should learn a thing or two from Trent Reznor.

  7. Axl needs to become capable of what many other musicians have done/are doing, and that's release new music. After that if he wants to reunited with his former band mates, write a book, snort crack off a hooker's ass, he can. But if he goes without releasing CD while people still care (though not as many do now as did before) he'll just go down in the history books as a pathetic overhyped musician. I'd hate for that to happen but given what's going on now...
