  1. I don't think liking it can make you a Dinosaur, I'm in my 20's and I know who Seb is.

How is Gnr so different than Row?? How are there 5 million people on this forum who didn't buy a C.D.? Did anyone burn this Album??

  2. i bet the first week sales are less than 15K.

im guessing 10-20,000 which is good for someone like baz. it would already outsell both nu-skid row albums iwthout him...

I would expect far less than that; Bruce Dickinson's last solo album had 4,000 first week sales despite the fact it was his first major label release, and he is a far bigger name than Baz...

Bruce Dickinson didn't have Axl Rose on his Album though.

  3. i think axl shud stop acting like a pussy and take it like a man...he came on late and pissed off a lot of fans, so he got a beer to the head, take it like a man axl stop being a whiney lil wussy bitch...no offence.

If it was a plastic cup, which I'm 99% sure of, you're absolutely right, Son. How many times us R&R fans get a beer thrown over us while standing in the crowd at a rock festival. He should laugh it off, or turn it into a good joke.

What kind of a Shithead would throw a beer at Axl?

ONCE AGAIN, Axl disrespected the fans by taking the stage at almost midnight... the fans disrespected him by throwing him some beer. Fair enough. 1-1. Draw.

Axl wants to play this game, it's his fault. If he had started the show earlier and had respected the fans, this would have never happened.

ONCE AGAIN, this little game continues... go on Axl, take the stage at midnight. Maybe one day one of your bandmember will leave (Robin? Tommy?)

Anybody going to a GNR show should know to expect a two hour delay by now. If you have a problem with it, don't go. Throwing shit at Axl is not cool.

    Right On!

Tommy?)

Axl should go on at 1:00 am.

  4. More roses than guns

OLD rockers don't die, they just get more sincere. Axl Rose may be missing his original bandmates and his explosive energy, but he still knows how to have fun.

    Guns N' Roses

    Burswood Dome

Review by Jay Hanna, STM Music Editor

My, my Axl, how things have changed. It was almost bang on 11 o'clock when that familiar other-worldy wail came bouncing across the darkness. "Do you know where the f**k you are?". Well yes, but did Guns N' Roses know what time it was? With a reputation for being notoriously late, perhaps Axl Rose and his band of seven were trying to get off on the right foot as they kicked off the Australian leg of their Chinese Democracy World Tour.

Flanked by a pair of guitarists that looked alarmingly like Rose's former band mates Slash and Izzy Stradlin, the corn-rowed rocker got the show underway with notorious party-starter "Welcome To The Jungle". As fire shot to the heavens the 45-year-old singer proved he still had those serpent-like moves slithering his hips and inviting the crowd to "feel my, my, my serpentine."

A far cry from the bike pant-sporting, bandanna-wearing firecracker that shook the rock world to it's foundations in the 80s and early 90s, Axl Rose circa 2007 is a far more low-key character. His once explosive energy has subsided somewhat and the stage set-up has been stripped back accordingly. Gone are the huge ramps and abundance of space to run around. The wardrobe has changed too with Rose sporting some stylishly cut jeans, a black leather jacket and dark sunglasses. His once slender frame, now a hell of a lot more burly.

Still Rose's desire to entertain hasn't changed and he certainly seemed to be having fun as the band reeled of a list of classics, "It's So Easy", "Mr Brownstone" and "Live And Let Die". Four songs in Rose breathlessly addressed the sea of black t-shirts. "You sure know how to make people feel welcome," he drawled. That was it? No abuse. No swearing. No tantrums. It was almost hard to imagine that this genial figure was the same temperamental rock star who is famed for both his on-stage and off-stage tantrums. It was Rose minus attitude.

It wasn't as if Rose didn't have reason to vent a little anger. As usual the sound quality at Burswood Dome was beyond appalling. Teamed with an abominable sound mix it ruined many moments. In particular "You Could Be Mine" and new songs like "Better" sounded muddy, with the vocals barely audible over the wash of guitars and floor-pounding drums. It was hard to tell just how good Rose sounds these days. He certainly doesn't have the range he once had and at times his high notes sounded almost comical. Racing around the stage certainly didn't help matters and Rose delivered a far better vocal performance when sitting at his piano for "November Rain".

While Rose did his best, there was no doubt many were unfavourably comparing the show to the sensational prospect of seeing Guns N' Roses at their peak. In particular the absence of charismatic guitar legend Slash was sorely felt and the most competent replacement, Richard Fortus, had to share those killer guitar riffs with far two far inferior guitarists. At one stage Rose stalked on stage ahead of the rest of the band and jokingly asked "where did my band go?". Unfortunately they left a long time ago....

There were plenty that left early, but when you consider the show spanned more than two hours wrapping up a little after 1am, that is too be expected. Still it cost them two of the night's highlights "Nightrain" and show stopper "Paradise City".

As ticket tape shot into the air, Rose and his band stepped on stage for a bow. Taking the microphone Rose acknowledged that people questioned his sincerity "for doing this" but as he earnestly thanked the crowd for their reception he sounded 100 per cent genuine.

Debate began raging as soon as we were spat out of the Dome with one unhappy punter claiming the sensation of being forcefully blown from the building was: "the best part of the night". No doubt there will be many mixed opinions and debate will continue for years to come, but while Guns N' Roses are no longer the band they once were, musically or physically, there is no denying that in his hey day Axl Rose was one of the best rock frontmen ever. Therefore to see him live is to see a living legend in action. It's just a shame that things have to change.

    Fucking Critics.. :fuckyou:

  5. Can't believe no one care yet!

    Updates in this thread

Its no surprise that there has already been a MASSIVE drop in interest in these shows by the online community. It was high that first night, and when people seen it was AFD fantasy land again, people stopped caring. Second show had alot less peeps interested, and tonight will be even worse.

Will be the same with the Australian/Japan tour.

As already stated by someone, we've already seen this. The main interest will be from the people actually at these shows.

Until an album comes out and this band actually starts focusing on their own material with AFD on the backburner, you/we will continue to see interest plummet.

We're getting semi close to showtime, and here's the minor interest:

    5 Members: Jameslofton29, johnpetrosky2k, kittylitterbox, smokingarthur, TheHelgo

    That speaks volumes.......

I Still Think Alot of People are Interested.

  6. It's official.....if the tour continues in this fashion, then it is total bullshit. Waiting until 1:00 AM to get onstage? WTF?! There are so many other great bands that have no difficulty getting onstage by 10:00pm everynight, why does GNR get to wait until 1:00 AM? This bands is not out there to play for their fans. There are other motives and money is obviously the most likely answer. They're playing the same setlist.....surprise, surprise. I've got absolutely no interest in this tour unless they start playing new, unheard material and Axl and the boys can get their shit together and start showing respect for the people that spend their hard-earned money on purchasing tickets to see these GNR shows. Axl may think that he doesn't need fans and, personally I believe, if he continues to act disrespectfully towards them, then he SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY.

    Dude, Go away.

Dude, Go away? Haahaa. Just not liking what you don't want to hear.

Sorry man, I think I was trying to respond to another Axl Hater, it just gets under my skin how all these supposed fans have so much to say hateful about the Axl and the Band, it's such Bullshit, this is The Democracy Tour, he's on stage, it's very exciting to me, I believe he has a Plan.. I'm just personally satisfied that he showed up.. so sorry,, Peace. I guess they could be a little cooler to us though..

  7. ^^You feel sorry for the fans who attended the shows? I'll bet you anything that those attending had an awesome time.

They were probably half passed out due to the late start time. In my opinion the fans got fucked over tonight but that's just my opinion.

Dude, they're an audience of people who would have preferred to hear Nightrain or Patience as opposed to Madagascar or Chinese Democracy.

As stated - if you look at the clips posted on newgnr, the crowd was completely nuts for the show. You're just totally wrong.

I'm just saying I think he owed it to the crowd to play longer and that doesn't necessarily mean playing new songs. He could have played Used To Love Her, Rocket Queen, Down On The Farm, and Civil War.

But you don't know the circumstances. You don't know why they went on so late (a lot later than usual), you don't know whether they had a curfew, you don't know whether they could or couldn't have played longer...

They still played a 2+ hour show. Most bands barely make it to 2... the audience got their money's worth. I feel sorry for them having to wait so long - and if it happens to me, i'll be annoyed too... but until we know why they did, then I don't think it's fair to criticise either way.

Obviously they went on so late because that's when Mr Rose felt like taking the stage. The whole band, probably minus Axl, had been there and soundchecked earlier on. If you Highvoltage as a die hard fan went to tonights show you'd be pissed off at the setlist you got. I hope when he comes to Australia he gives you guys the killer show and setlist you deserve.

Killer and deserving setlist? WTF? The setlist they delivered, bar maybe 3 other songs, is what the fans that are attending want. Until the album drops, you aren't gonna hear anything new, fortunately, cause then there aren't any surprises.

    Exactly!!

  9. CHIDEM is not coming out anytime soon.

The band is good but i wonder whats holding up the album.

    O.k. Axl, you know everything..

super ultra quick notes before my full review

both opening bands sucked, but the wait for GNR was pathetic. More on this later.

show was very fast paced and cut short a few songs (encore) due to the band getting on stage late ( at about 1 am, after 2 hours without any band playing ).

Crowd forgot the 2 hours lateness as soon as the band began playing

Tommy looked HORRIBLE, sick, like if had just waken up of a coma. Almost like moe the bartender from the simpsons. Richard was scary, wont surprise me if he was dancing with mr.brownstone. Finck looks old, BBF has a new, slimmer image. No doubt about it he was the coolest looking of 'em all. Had huge shoes.

very dissapointing for me that there was no encore, but overall i guess it was a good show.

    Any specific questions?

Thanks. If Tommy looked sick, maybe he wasn't feeling well? Perhaps this could have been why the show started so late?

Were people angry about the delay? Were you worried about a riot at any point?

How did the band sound? Was Axl's voice "on?"

Did people start leaving the show early because of the time?

I dont know about Tommy. He just didn't look OK. I mean, it was shocking to see how bad he looked. I don't know why the show started so late, but i'm pretty sure something happened between the 2nd band ending and guns suppossed time to take the stage. Right after maligno ( last opening band ) ended, all the GNR crew were all smile and laughs (even del james), but as the time went on (about an hour or so) most of them looked nervous, like if the show was just about to get cancelled.

People were angry about the delay and a little portion of the crowd did leave. 3 or 4 beers went fliying straight to the stage in the waiting time, and when guns went on ( during Live And Let Die, i believe ) one empty bottle of beer almost hit axl. He didn't seem to care tought.

I couldnt really tell who was playing what, but it might have been because i was very close to the stage, but i can def. tell that axl still has his 2006 voice, the 2002 is gone. The first line in the scream part of better was a little bit off.

Fuckin Bullshit.. Motherfucker.. Can't you assholes be happy he's on stage and doing the fucking Chinese Democracy tour?
