  1. One of the main arguments against Axl NOT attending the induction ceremony, let alone performing a song or two with the old band for old time's sake is that "it will kill what he's trying to accomplish with the nu band".

Ehh...idk if I buy into that, as I really believe not attending will do more harm than good. Take a look at comments at GNR outside these forums. Such as articles about GNR on Blabbermouth. The general outlook on the nu band isn't that strong anyways. Love it or hate it, people and the media will always want the people who helped Axl make GNR what it is back in the band. It will never change, regardless if he attends or not. You will always get the "this isn't GNR" comments. And the worry can easily be calmed if Axl communicated with the fanbase and assured them that this is a one night thing for a special occasion.

However, if everybody who's inducted show up except Axl and Dizzy, it's gonna make Axl look like a whiny bitter shitbird (as portrayed by the media of course, which will then snowball out of control). Seriously. The backlash and criticism he would get for it would be so much worse than if he actually let go of what happened in 1996, and threw the fans a bone for one night.

Just my opinion on it. What's yours?

I think Axl not showing up might be an interesting way to promote a new album.

  2. What's the point of your post dude? Are you trying to get a few other posters to rally with you against me, to make fun of me or something? :xmassrudolph:

This board is so fucking deluded it's absurd. This isn't even a topic that should be discussed...we might as well talk about what kind of influence Oprah had on the UYI albums.

Quit being paranoid....It's only a post. Relax, everything will be OK.

  3. He has written a bunch of great tracks for both the old band and the new band... so why not.

Indeed he has, but didn't visibly become an actual member of GN'R til 2001. Who cares about the people behind the scenes? He had no say in creating the legend that is GN'R. That's like saying Pete Best should have been inducted along with The Beatles, or Spike Edney with Queen.

He co-wrote Back Off Bitch which was pre AFD. He also co-wrote about half the songs on Chinese. He also played guitar on most of Chinese.

  4. if axl gets the terms he wants, it could happen. i think this new 2010 line up is more a hobby than anything. the bucket line up was axls chance to bring back gnr, it didnt work out. i think he put cd out to see the process thru, and now he is just going thru the motions. if we ever get an ashba/ron gnr album ill be f-in shocked. i think this new crew has a short life expectancy. which would leave 2013 looking pretty good. slash & co would have to make some huge concessions to make this happen and i dont think they will.

    and i dont blame them.

    What would Axl's terms be?

  5. Yeah, i can hear his rhythm parts on some songs like perfect crime, bad obssession , dust n bones, pretty tied up... they are scratchy and more clean sound than slash distorted ones...i think his parts are in the album because of his trademark sound and the info on booklet...but this question always seems to blow my mind hehhe and because of this i want to hear more opinions if you have...Thanks one more time my friends

Slash's ego got in the way and Izzy wasn't around for mixing!

  6. like it did in 02. Perhaps New Guns is unable to sell out stadiums and they should scale down to develop more of a grassroots following in the states. This band is getting depressing as a touring act, but I can't wait to download new music.

  7. They don't have the fanbase in the US to do an arena tour. The 2002 tour of the US was a disaster for the band. However, if Axl was to bring some of the original line up into the fold, maybe a GNR extrvaganza...who knows...

  8. The MSL deal seems to have just gone away. Reading between the lines of MSL's posts on his website, it seems to me like he took a payout from Axl/GNR and shut up about the whole deal. There hasn't been any verification of this as far as I know, but there hasn't been any denials, either. Some of the stuff would have been interesting, but most of it seemed like none of our business in my opinion. (from what was talked about at least)

I would imagine Axl is holed up because of that whole situation.

  9. I'm sure Axl is helping them out, money wise, if needed. But I bet they are wondering why Axl calls Beta his 'mother'.

Obviously she's been more of a mom to him than his biological mother. Don't think it's that hard to understand.

Exactly right. Also, it sounds much more understandable after you smack someone if you explain it by saying '"He hit my Mother" instead of "He hit my personal assistant and housekeeper". Axl's smart like that.

    ps, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

I was thinking the exact same thing
