  1. Alright then

Judas priest-I remember back in the early 80's i bought british steel thinking i was going to get a mediocre rock album. well i thought wrong the album was phenomenal. it was the first album i ever bought. i have been a fan ever since.

Motörhead-late 70's early 80's they made some killer material.

iron maiden-even though i never got into them. you might like them.

black sabbath- personally i like both ozzy and dio years equally. but you might want to give their material with ozzy a try first.

venom-i never cared for them very much but you might find enjoyment out of them.

thrash-metallica/megadeth/slayer/voivod/anthrax/celtic frost/Suicidal Tendencies-i never got into the whole thrash thing but i think it might be appealing to you or anyone else trying to get into the genre.

groove metal-pantera/white zombie/machine head/five finger death punch/lamb of god/six feet under-you probably wont dig this sub-genre unless your into more heavier stuff. but i think it's worth giving a shot.

avenged sevenfold-i like this band there worth giving a try.

down- they got a nice southern metal sound that i find pretty killer.

  2. i aint really listened to a lot of metal. or any metal really, i dunno, i dont think Alice Cooper counts, thats more like...rock n roll so i dunno. never listened to Sabbath or Judas Priest or any of that so i dunno. these genre vs genre comparison and generally a little non-sensical.

why don't you give the genre a shot? i guarantee you'll like it.

why not? so whats like...where'd you start even?

want me to suggest some bands?

  4. Rob Zombie kicks ass. i remember back in 96' i saw white zombie live when they opened for pantera. it was a kickass show, rob is got to be one of the greatest metal frontmen of the 90's.

  5. Dr.feelgood

i was expecting something different from the crue. but they basically tried to merge their entire discography into one album. i was highly disappointed with the album when i got it on release day. i love the crue still to this day. but dr.feelgood has to be one of the most overrated albums ever.

  6. Nikki Sixx & Tommy Lee-NYC night club

Phil Anselmo-pantera live 96' Detroit show

    Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul-Damageplan 2004 L.A.

Dee Snider-Twisted Sister live Atlanta show 86' or 87' don't remember it was on the last tour before they broke up.

Izzy-Saw his band live back in the mid 90's

    Duff-Unsure

Dave Grohl-Unintentional at an airport in Detroit back in 97'.

i'm jealous, just kidding.very, very nice list.best one is,dimebag darrell.i would say nikki and tommy most of the time, but dimebag would be cool to have meet.keep that one near to you. B)

i will do that. him and vinnie had to be the nicest celebrities i've ever met. Dave was pretty cool too.

Same here. They shot the shit with us for a while too. Great guys.

i wanna go back in time and meet dimebag. :( did you guys get his autograph.what did you guys say to him when you meet him.how did you feel when you got a chance to talk to him.please share your experience.if you want.

when i first met the abbott brothers i was nervous. i first asked them for an autograph. then they invited me backstage and we talked and drank for about one hour. but it was one of the greatest hours of my life. they told me that no matter how much money they flash in our faces there was no chance in hell that pantera would ever reunite. i will never forget that moment.

  8. Ted Nugent-Cat Scratch Fever

Well I don't know where they come from

    But they sure do come

I hope they comin' for me

And I don't know how they do it

But they sure do it good

I hope they doin' it for free

They give me cat scratch fever

    Cat scratch fever

The first time that I got it

I was just ten years old

I got it from some kitty next foor

I went and see the Dr. and

    He gave me the cure

I think I got it some more

They give me cat scratch fever

    Cat scratch fever

    It's nothin dangerous

    I feel no pain

    I've got to ch-ch-change

You know you got it when you're going insane

It makes a grown man cryin' cryin'

    Won't you make my bed

I make the pussy purr with

    The stroke of my hand

They know they gettin' it from me

They know just where to go

When they need their lovin man

They know I do it for free

They give me cat scratch fever

    Cat scratch fever

    Led Zeppelin-Kashmir

Oh let the sun beat down upon my face, stars to fill my dream

I am a traveler of both time and space, to be where I have been

To sit with elders of the gentle race, this world has seldom seen

They talk of days for which they sit and wait and all will be revealed

Talk and song from tongues of lilting grace, whose sounds caress my ear

But not a word I heard could I relate, the story was quite clear

    Oh, oh.

Oh, I been flying... mama, there ain't no denyin'

I've been flying, ain't no denyin', no denyin'

All I see turns to brown, as the sun burns the ground

And my eyes fill with sand, as I scan this wasted land

Trying to find, trying to find where I've been.

Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace, like thoughts inside a dream

Heed the path that led me to that place, yellow desert stream

My Shangri-La beneath the summer moon, I will return again

Sure as the dust that floats high in June, when movin' through Kashmir.

Oh, father of the four winds, fill my sails, across the sea of years

With no provision but an open face, along the straits of fear

    Ohh.

When I'm on, when I'm on my way, yeah

When I see, when I see the way, you stay-yeah

    Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, when I'm down...

Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, well I'm down, so down

Ooh, my baby, oooh, my baby, let me take you there

Let me take you there. Let me take you there

  9. Most fans of hair bands were in there late teens-early 20s.

Grunge however appealed to people of all ages.

    No.

I know a lot of old people who still listen bands from the Hair Metal era. It was all about having a good time.

    Grunge was for depressed fags.

My question is whats so depressing about it? just because it's from Seattle and the lyrics attack political and social issues doesn't mean it's depressing.

It's depressed. They are not happy with anything, they don't enjoy the life.

Just because one grunge rocker blew his fucking head off doesn't mean that every grunger was depressed.

Okay, because Alice in Chains in the 90's wasn't depressed

AIC had issues because of layne drug addiction and they only had a few depressing songs.

BTW i don't consider them grunge.

  13. awesome 80's, why do you hate Cinderella?

You can't really call them shit.

Even if you hate his voice, you must give 'em credit they're talented musicially and lyricially.

I never said they were shit. all i said was the manufactured bands like that took away the attitude of the genre.

  14. gay power ballads? Tell me which Power Ballad had lyrics about gay or homosexuality. Most of the girls bought these albums because the Power Ballads, I don't see how it's gay. Please give me a perfect reason.

Most of the Hard Rock bands added Power Ballad songs since 1986.

I was using that term because the power ballads were bloated and sappy. And thats the reason hair metal has such a bad rep today.

  15. Vulgar, check this out. Return, with "Bye Bye Johnny". Their most famous song and IMO one of the best hair metal songs ever

    </a>

Those guys are good. They aren't as girly as a lot of 80's hair bands.

Plus i don't know why people have to hate on hair bands so much. yeah it wasn't real metal but it was still rock and it was cool. We all know hair metal ain't coming back but at least we still have some good memories of it.

Agreed, the genre doesn't deserve the crap it gets. Of course this genre wouldn't have become a joke if it wasn't for bands like:

    Poison

    Cinderella

    Europe

    Firehouse

    Extreme

    Warrant

All these bands are what led to the decline of the genre. These bands were tools and they will only be remembered for the power ballads.

These are my favorite bands to come out of the genre:

    Motley Crue

    Ratt

    Def Leppard

    Twisted Sister

    Quiet Riot

I think you like the heavier stuff, right? The Glam Metal bands you like are from the first wave, whcih include more Heavy Metal influences than Hard Rock influences.

anyway, Poison and Europe is doing better than Ratt, Twisted Sister and Quiet Riot. (Quiet Riot was even a failure in the Glam Metal heyday)

Second wave was a joke. Unless all you like are crappy attempted hard rock songs and power ballads. The second wave bands gave the genre a bad reputation.

First wave bands also did Power Ballads. The genre had bad reputation because their lyrics, lifestyle and image; bands from the two waves were the same, except first wave had more Heavy Metal influences.

Quiet Riot was only successful between 1983 and 1984. Later they didn't do well. and they weren't the biggest band in the US; Van Halen, The Police, Michael Jackson, Def Leppard, etc, were bigger.

    You failed.

They certainly were the biggest band in the u.s. 82'-83' their album went number 1. Trust me i'm 35 years old. I was going to shows before you were born.

Metal Health (their best album, in '83) sold only 6 million units. Also in that year, The Police's Synchronicity was a success and sold more than 8 million units already in the US. Michael Jackson's Thriller sold more than 27 million untis in the US (released in december '82 but went #1 in the US for 37 weeks)

Album sales don't mean everything. Quiet Riots commercial success was through the roof. Then they quickly went downhill after 84'. you could still hear Cum on feel the noise played on radio stations till 87'. Then the whole power ballad era began in 88' and just about every hair band was putting out a power ballad. Thank god for afd in the late 80's. it actually set some diversity in the music scene during that time.

Power Ballads started to get success in 1985, with Mötley Crüe. (lol '88, nice try awesome 80's).

Power ballads weren't the biggest success on these bands; Livin' On A Prayer (not a Ballad) was more successful than Wanted Dead or Alive (a Ballad). Cheery Pie (not a Ballad) was more successful than any of the many Ballads by Warrant.

Appetite For Destruction was only a diversity in the Hair Metal scene (This is a Sleaze Rock album). Sweet Child O' Mine is considered a Ballad.

Home sweet home only made it to 89# on the billboard 100 in 85. and was considered ahead of it's time. trust me, the power ballad didn't become a trend until 88'. And almost every hair band had one and it was a considered a guarantee that your album would sell.

BTW Sweet child of mine is a true rock ballad not a gay power ballad.

  16. Skid row was washed up before bach left. Subhuman race was a joke that failed. and nobody even cared when skid row broke up. i admit that they were pretty talented but the thing is they were an overnight thing. their popularity lasted from 89'-92' then everyone ditched them because they were going nowhere. and if a band reaches the point that the future don't look bright then their done.
