  1. Of course it was expensive, it was one of the biggest productions at the time. Just look at all the things that are going on in the video: The SWAT team raids Axl's house, overhead shots of the canyons, an entire oil tanker, Slash floating down the Sunset Strip past the Rainbow and Roxy, Slash emerging from the ocean in heavy winds, all the personal touches in Axl's "house" including an enormous replication of jesus on the cross, a cargo plane with a dolphin swimming out of it into mid-air, dolphins swimming down sunset and pouring out of a billboard, Axl's swimming with dolphins, an US Coast Guard helicopter that airlifts him out of the water, not to mention countless extras. So, it wasn't just over a million to make. It was more like maybe 4-5 million to make.

  2. Sadly, I think either way the fans are screwed on both options.

I would love an album but let's face it, there's no way you're getting them all in the studio together. You might get Izzy, Duff and Axl in a studio. You may get Slash, Izzy, Duff and Adler (or Matt Sorum) together. But there's no way in hell you get Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy and Steven in the studio again. Ever.

So, my preference would be a dinosaurs of rock reunion tour at this point but there's always the chance that Izzy isn't willing to do a big tour because... he's Izzy. A tour seems likely if they copycat the Rolling Stones (Show, Play, Leave in separate Limos) touring style from 1997 to 2005 (2 tours no studio albums).

So in the end just like all the original members of GN'R I commit to nothing.

    God. Damn. it. :anger:

  3. Let's keep this respectful so it doesn't get moved to attitude or deleted.

We know that Team Brazil and Axl's camp reads the forum.

As die-hard fans of the band, some of us have supported Axl financially and with our fandom since the beginning in the 80s and through the current band.

I'm sure that the GnR camp would be interested to read our thoughts.

So please keep this respectful, don't bash anybody, DONT post who u wish would get fired. JUST throw out what you would love to see happen with our favorite band in 2014.

    *************

I would love to see a new album, of course, but in a dream world 2014 would be even more than that. It would be the year that GnR/Axl dedicated to fans of the band.

I know it's important for Axl, Beta, Del, Fernando and company to - what is in their eyes - hold people accountable for their actions. Labels, video game companies, promoters, former band members, fans/haters on music forums, etc.

My wish is that they take one year off from doing that, and dedicate 2014 to the fans of the band. Put the haters, cancers, evil people on the back burner just for one year. And concentrate on the MILLIONS of fans who love and support Axl and his music.

Maybe take Prince's lead - again, just for 2014, and then go back to normal operations. Look at what the purple mad man has done at various times in his career.

1993: 3-disc greatest hits album. Featured two brand new songs, as well as unreleased tracks and all his B-side songs.

1996: 3-disc, 36 song album. Three hours of music.

1998: 5-disc collection of unreleased music

2006 album - prince had golden tickets inserted into random CDs. 24 winners (with a guest each) were able to attend a star-studded private party and performance......at Prince's house.

    2009 - 3-disc release

I would love to see Axl/Beta do one of those t hings in 2014. Dedicate 2014 to the fans. Don't worry about the haters/evil people for one year.

Can you imagine 2014 looking like this and what it would do for the GnR brand?

    Box set, includes 5 cds

    1. New album - written by current band

    2. B-sides, unreleased material on one disc

    3. CD2 album - all leftover CD material

    4. 2-disc live CD

    5. 20 "golden tickets" randomly distributed in box set, plus randomly select 20 forum members to attend party at Axl's mansion. Gourmet food, a short acoustic show, hanging out with the band for the night.

THAT would shut up 90% of the haters, and bring GnR a TON of good press and positive reactions around the world.

Um, none of that will ever happen. First, writing an entire album isn't something that you just toss out there. Axl Rose is a perfectionist to a fault. The reason that Prince produced albums in so little time was because he had signed a 60 album contract through Warner Bros (which made him feel like a slave). It wasn't out of any duty or love for his fan base.

You're requesting what amounts to 4 albums in 2014 (which BTW is like four months away). Golden tickets? What is this Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Axl Rose isn't letting 1 derelict fan into his mansion no less 20 for - gourmet food, an show and a band "hangout" (whatever the fuck that is).

Come on. Think with the big head.

  4. If one day they feel like they want to play gnr songs on tour they should ask Axl "We want to reunite, do you want to?". He'd probably say "No". Well then they should tour with Myles (if he'd want to). Call their band something that resemble to Guns N Roses and just do it. That'd be cool I think.

Tanks N' Tulips is NOT the same thing as seeing Guns N' Roses.

  5. Motivate him to do what exactly? Put out another album? He put one out in 2008 (after a 17 year break between albums of new material). Now, we're complaining that he's not putting another out while he's on a world tour? WTF? Let him finish the tour before we start going nuts for Chinese Democracy 2 or whatever the next album is.

And what exactly has Slash been successful at? Jumping from band to band? Last I checked Velvet Revolver still doesn't have a singer.

The only thing Charlie Sheen's statements should do is motivate Axl to punch him in the face.

  6. If Axl released his autobiography, would you be confident he is telling the truth?

In Axl's mind he'd probably think he was being honest but I imagine it might be a little er... different to the reality. I love Axl to death but he seems to live in his own bubble with his own ideals and logic that only make sense to him.

I for one am DYING to read it. I would honestly take a day off work and read the whole thing right away.

It's only going to take you a day to read a 1200+ page book? LOL.

IF Axl ever released an autobiography about his life in & out of GN'R it'll be more than just a memoir. It'd be 600 pages of venom followed by a 600+ page dissertation on what's wrong with the world, rock and roll, and life in general.

  7. No. Axl came up with the bands' name in the first place. So, it's within his right to trademark it. It didn't hurt anything for him, that trademark is worth it. As for him being limited by the fans need for GN'R to be more like the classic lineup, i completely disagree. He has the rights to the name. He has the right to make whatever album he wants. He could make an album comprised entirely of echo farts on a snare drum with background singing and call it "Appetite 2". His trademark, his name, his right. I don't believe Axl Rose is a person that lives with regrets. He makes his choices, he lives with them.

In fact, the only people this has really hurt is the ex-members of the band (two in particular). Axl took control of the name and they (Slash + Duff) let him. Whether they were given an ultimatum by management to do so (likely), we'll never know. So, the way I see it, they got what they deserved. If you allow something you don't want to happen to happen, it's no one's fault but your own. If there was any reason for the other members to stand up and show some pride (at the time) it was this issue. It's a colossal fuck up on the part of Slash + Duff (for signing the papers) and to a much lesser extent Adler(only because he was borderline retarded and had been ejected due to his inability to keep sober). Izzy escapes blame in this for cutting ties with the band before the Use Your Illusion tour.

  8. I wish I could understand your question but it got lost somewhere between goofy Stallone movie references(Rocky was good, everything else was corny crap).

No. I don't think Axl has lost anything. Other than his desire to play for lackluster sleepy fans that do nothing but hang on to the past instead of accepting the band that's actually playing in front of them.

  9. Don't like re-treads or remakes. OMG is what it is. Re-doing it would be admitting failure on some level. I don't need 5 versions of a song to appreciate it (I'm waiting for a GNR release, not a "Dr.Dre" album).

I would prefer 15 new songs (that haven't been leaked out on to the net by some production studio lackey). Thank you very much.
