  1. thanks for the comments Justin, you are right on. It's amazing that some people think that being jealous somehow gives them power.

the fact the Axl and the rest of GNR are getting closer to fans is great. Of course all the fans want to meet Axl, but it seems like the ones who do are the ones that can relate to them on a normal level. A few on this forum have legitimate connections and have have met the band members.......not becuase they are die-hard fanatical gunners, but becuase they have forged relationship with others over time. NOT in just the good times, but in all times.

Congrats on your rare opportunity. Mine is coming. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but sometime. And as for Eric.............none of us would be here on this forum......if his "hobby" didn't actually serve a purpose. I've met Eric and he is first rate. Just a normal guy with a "hobby" he loves.

Yes.....I put "hobby" in quotes............running this place could easily consume more hours than most of us work.

well said my friend, well said. I'm not friends with the band because I want to go run and chase them around on tour, hoping for a backstage hookup. I'm friends with these guys because they are great people, doing something incredibly amazing with their lives. I love being around interesting people, and i'd say playing in Guns is probably one of the most interesting lives a man can lead...

Wow. That was one of the lamest posts ive ever read.

  2. I could not be more pleased with current events. The only way it could possibly be any better is if Slash, Duff, and Izzy were in the band. But, thats my opinion, so dont jump on me for it. I love that Axl is doin the twitter thing, that no shows have been cancelled, that his voice is sounding probably the best it has in concert since the UYI tour. I like Axl's voice, style, and stage presence so much more on this tour than I did when he did RIR3, or the VMAs in 2002, or the entire 02 tour. The 06 tour was a big step forward as far as his voice/vocals and his style( braids looked more "normal" on him, unlike 2002 when he looked like the Predator, and the baggy shit and jerseys seemed so ridiculous like he was trying too hard to be current, trying to show he was changing along with the whole hip hop culture becoming more mainstream in the late 90's early 2000's). His style was alot cooler in 06, and of course he regained his rasp for the first time since the old band if i remember correctly. All the shows post rock and roll HOF w/Springsteen featured helium Axl aka Mickey Mouse voice. So I was stoked to hear I believe it was Nightrain for Rock Am Ring in 06, with a good deal of rasp and Axl just kicking ass. I feared on this latest tour that maybe he would have lost the rasp he had gained back, just because of the fact that he is getting to the point where age starts to really alter and take away the vocal capacity/range. Ive noticed it quite a bit with other lead singers. Between 45-55 it seems like there is a real noticeable dropoff. No names are coming to mind right now, but I know I really noticed a trend once when I looked into it. So I am very very pleased to hear Axl's voice sounding so good. Of course on the current tour performances I have on my iPod there are some cringeworthy moments, but this is Axl. He's always been off and on. The main thing I notice is that he doesnt have the effortless power and control over his voice that he had from 87-94. But thats age. I expect that to happen. Overall Ive been so stoked listening to these shows every night on the ipod the last couple weeks. Its been awesome. Ill admit, I focus mainly on Axl, and dont pay as much attention to the other guys. They do a damn good job, Ill say that. I dont really have any complaints. They fuckin nail the old tunes as well as the new. Its just that for many reasons I prefer the old guys, the ones I grew to idolize when I was younger. And thats the reason I cant say this version is the best. I like to think the best(my favorite) incarnation of GNR would be about 1989. Of course they didnt really tour that year or anything. But I just say 1989 because its a mix between AFD/Lies era, and the very beggining of the UYI era. Axl was starting to sing with his more definied voice a little bit. They were fucking badass, and they were taking over the world. Anyways, that being said, Im way happy about the current state of affairs in "GNR". Im just happy Axl is out doin what he does best. What we all are constantly wanting him to do. He is out there touring the world, fronting GNR, and putting in every ounce of his energy into each performance. He doesnt sound as perfect as 1988, but until a time machine is invented, that voice aint comin back. Im more than happy to settle with the 2010 Axl. I just hope he continues to be active. Whether its touring, recording, writing, hell, even producing if he gets into that. Anything other than just hiding out in Malibu. Of course its his life and he can do whatever the fuck he wants, but hey, I just think he has a lot to offer. And I would think it would be healthier/more beneficial for him to be out working/recording/touring. Alright, I know, Im sounding like a weird celeb obsessed stalker now, talking about his wellbeing and health and shit. But hey, I just love to watch and hear the fuckin guy perform. He's my favorite singer of all time, from my favorite band of all time. If you read this entire long ass post, thank you. Many times I just skip ovre peoples posts if theyre too long. I got on a roll and couldnt stop lol

  3. hey MicEffect I figured you are at these shows since you have been doing these updates. If you're not, how are you gettin' the info? Im sure there is obvious explanation that will make my quiestion sound very dumb, but Im curious how you're doin that?

There's no dumb questions. Just dumb answers. Here it goes... I get the updates from Jarmo on HTGTH

ok cool thanks that makes sense. Thanks for posting them here. I dont visit his site anymore after he banned me several years ago for something childish

  4. Please keep it on topic so the thread doesn't get locked. Velvet Revolver bs will result in that happening. There's a section for that.

Dude chill out and stfu. He was on topic. The review someone posted had a VR song incorrectly in the setlist, so he was sayin something about that, then he moved on. Nothing that warranted making a post to remind people to stay on topic

  5. 2d8gmc3.jpg

    He's not fat at all.

Looking on the light side, that pic would make for a good caption contest :D

yeah it looks to me like he;s tryin to take a shit but he's super constipated. Tryin to push out a concrete pineapple after spendin the last few weeks on the Michael Jackson oxycontin and vicodin diet

  6. Layne was a great singer, but it's always been Jerry's band. Duvall is pretty good. This new song is catchy, I haven't been able to get that riff out of my head all week.

Always been Jerry's band? Huh? Yeah he wrote lots of their material, but Layne had an enormous part in thie success. Listen to Jerry on their unplugged performance, his voice was all over the place. Layne's vocals were spot on even when all the distortion and other noise was taken away, Layne sounded amazing. I love Layne and Jerry, and I think the two of them are responsible for their success. Not quite 50/50, since Jerry wrote so much, but probably like 60-40, since Laynes vocals were such a major part of the songs. I can definately say that if it wasnt for Laynes vocals, I wouldnt like AIC nearly as much. Which is why im not as excited for this new record.

  7. What's the over/under that this sells more copies than Chinese Democracy?

what's the over/under that you are a detractor masquerading as a Fan? It would be preferable overall if you wouldn't act like a dick and

undermine the band with every single post.

    I'd say under.

More like a fan who isn't afraid to point out the lunacy in the operations of what's going on. Or more accurately, what's been going on for years.

I'm sorry if this isn't obvious to deranged simpletons.

And of course you were there and you know what went on, sure

keep on believing that, you fit your description of deranged Simpleton to a T. I don't consider people like you fans in any determined sense of the word, rather various and asundry hangers on who jump on and off the boat at their own convienience. Can you spell hypocrite? Look in the mirror, you'll see an image of one.

So to be a fan you have to always smile while being fed shit? People who bag on the current situation are just as big of fans as you are. Being a fan doesnt mean you have to agree or like everything goin on, or in this case NOT going on. Fans have every right to vent their frustration. These are the people who since 1987 have been fueling this "band" with their hard earned dollars. Records, tapes, CD's, merch, tickets and so on. I dont think that means we own the band or anything, but it means we can complain when we are eager to spend yet more money to see/hear them yet we dont even get a peep. The current state of GNR owuld be much more bearable if the fans were kept in the loop

  8. Baz was cool back on the first Skid Row record, and even cooler on Slave to the Grind but ever since then not so mcuh. His voice brings immediate thoughts of 80's "hair metal", and by that I mean Skid Row, Poison, Warrant, etc. Not GNR. They were different. I think Slash and Duff understand this clearly, and dont want to be seen as an 80's hair band throwback or something. They dont wanna sound dated. At least thats the impression ive gotten from interviews

  9. And i don't give a damn about legally who ownes the name. I mean how 'rock n' roll' is that?
How "rock n' roll" is it to take someone, who is completely innocent, to court based on the errors of someone else?

When it comes to Axl, it's always someone elses fault.

And if Slash was such a liar, why didn't Axl sue him for the lies in his book? He could've cleaned Slash out and once in for all be victorious in this stupid war where nobody really wins.

Maybe he didn't want to stoop to the level Slash did. Maybe it would have just been a waste of time and money, when it's just easier to say to the fans WHO LOVE AND BELIEVE HIM, that Slash was wrong with what he said, that he lied, and just leave it at that. Comes down to the old saying of "turn the other cheek"....even if it is a little outdated, it's easier than wasting your time, effort and money in any more court battles.

When has our man Axl ever "turned the other cheek" when it comes to legal matters? He always sends the dogs. He's always lightning quick with the cease and decist letters. The Dr Pepper lawsuit is another example. He never hesitates to sue

  10. I stumbled across Brokeback Mountain the other day on HBO. Although Im not a homophobe, after seeing a preview that had a scene of a passionate make out scene between two men, I wasnt gonna watch that shit. I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was a really good film
