  1. i don't understand why he keeps refering to his former bandmates wanting reunion?

who does? Duff is doing his thing, Slash is doing his thing, Izzy is probably not doing anything and doesn't want to do anything, it's just Steven who's failing at doing his thing.

it just seems he doesn't live the present and is stuck with the past, grudges and everything he's not moving forward and it actually is embarrasing to see for a "dude" his age.

i don't think it's necessarily former bandmates that he's referring to. it's the biz side that's wants one so badlly - managers, promoters, etc. there is a lot of money to be made from a reunion for those types of people, and i think that's who he's referring to.

  2. someone had posted some actual concert stats from billboard a few weeks ago. not sure if more data has been put up online but it would be interesting to see.

i was at the houston and dallas shows and there were around 12.5k fans at each one, if not more.

  3. Dude- highly doubtful they will hang in your town (no offense). Band might, but Axl most likely not. He may fly out after show...who knows. Probably hub somewhere (Chicago etc...). These days alot of bands/frontmen do it that way. Jon Bon Jovi is known to hub, Bob Segar flies home almost nightly to Michigan after each show (within reason...). Alot of bands fly in couple hours before show and are audi shortly after. Who knows, I could be off base on Axl. Not alot of sightings/reports of him at local bars on tour so far. I know back in the day they'd pop up at local dive (hipper ones) bars and play acoustic shit.

he's been 'hubbing' out of dallas since the miami show. don't know if he's still here...wouldn't be surprised since it's a short flight from here to many of the upcoming tour dates. my wife, coincidentally, found out what hotel he's camping out at here.

  4. axl and the band are converting the skeptics with this tour and regaining many of the fans that they lost during the hiatus from '94 to recently. they have always had their large loyal fan base that have stuck with them and have known the band is absolutely fantastic. but what this tour of the US is doing is proving that to the many more casual fans and even those who weren't big fans to begin with that they are something very special, especially in today's music world.

what i'm trying to say was summed up by the review of the dallas show. to quote the author (who is admittedly not a GNR fan):

"the band sounded as good, if not better, than the original crew of Slash, Izzy, Duff, etc."

"it all worked because Guns N' Roses original material still sounds as fresh and engaging as it did in the late 80's"

"Running around the large stage, Rose looked in good shape as he engaged the crowd throughout the evening"

"I have never been the biggest fan of Guns N' Roses...but after seeing the talented display Saturday night, I must begrudgingly tip my hat to Rose and the rest of his heavily tattooed brood."

  5. i just typed up this whole reply explaining how i found this out but deleted it because i don't want anyone at the hotel getting in trouble. not sure if fernando or anyone in the gnr camp might see this and complain to the hotel that their people have loose lips.

obviously it came from someone at the hotel but i don't want to make it obvious exactly who it was.

  6. yeah, i know what hotel they're at. axl has been staying there since the miami show. my wife got some inside info :D

    How is that possible?

how is it possible that axl's been staying there all week or that I knew this? pretty sure that axl has a private jet that he uses during the tours. he's been camping out in dallas this week and jetting to the shows in atlanta, south carolina, houston and of course dallas. not a long flight to any of those places from here.

  7. But in an era of noise ordinance-abbreviated sets and multimedia onstage experiences -- GnR's visual accompaniments were, by turns, hilariously cheesy (dancing girls in lingerie) or completely incomprehensible -- going onstage late and playing until 1:30 a.m. is pretty rock and roll.

What does this mean? There were women in lingerie on stage?!

And oh, seriously, why does everybody complain that the vocals were too low in the mix? Why don't they fix that?

yeah that part of the review was a bit confusing to me also. i think it was a compliment but in a very odd and twisted way. i think the review was overall very positive, as was the dallas review that i posted in other threads. both these guys said they sounded great and that axl is not fat at all. the dallas reviewer plainly said that these guys sound better than the original lineup, and didn't bother even mentioning that slash is gone. only real complaints were too many solos.

  8. I am ready. Been waiting since they cancelled 2002. I think I will head up to Arlington tonight and catch up with some old friends, sleep it off tomorrow and then have an amazing Saturday night!

Me too. I've been waiting since the cancelled tour in 2002. I've been a GNR fan since I saw the video for Welcome to the Jungle on the Headbangers Ball and I"ve watched them become huge.

I never got to see GNR in their first days, I was raising 2 kids and it just wasn't a good time. Anyway, tomorrow night I will be attending with my husband and my 2 grown kids. WE are all excited about this show. My son was little when GNR came on the scene, but through me he's been a fan since his early teens. Learning to play the drums to GNR songs was awesome for him. Now we get to see them live. Axl Rose is still an amazing showman. I know he'll put on an amazing show. It's going to be so awesome to take part in this event.

The weather is supposed to be a little cool at night, but once GNR hits the stage, I"m sure we fans will forget about it and rock!

See all you GNR fans tomorrow night!

that's really cool. hope you all enjoy the show!

  9. Question for Dallas residents... How's Deep Ellum these days? Back in the day I had a few tattoos done there and it was a blast but then I heard it kinda went to shit now it's back in an upswing. Thoughts? Reason I ask is I'm looking for a place to take my brother(who's never been to Dallas) to knock back a few beers and watch some football before the show starts. Thanks!

deep ellum is fine these days. you won't have any problems whatsoever.

i've never been to this particular place but it looks promising: http://www.yelp.com/biz/anvil-pub-dallas

  10. i would venture to say that the first amount is the total revenue generate from ticket sales, # of tickets sold/# of tickets available, don't know/don't know, highest list price, lowest list price
