  1. Something by Chopin, perhaps "Funeral March."

I'd feel embarrassed if "Paradise City" or a song of similar nature was played (well I wouldn't, of course, but still); I think it's such a cheesy, white trash thing to do. No offence to the person who said that, btw, it's just my opinion on it. The only contemporary song I could imagine being played is T.Rex's "

." It's supposedly about reincarnation - although given the nonsensical nature of Marc Bolan's lyrics and his tendency to lie a lot about his song's subjects and whatnot, that might not be completely evident in its lyrics, or even true at all, for that matter - so I guess it could be considered a fitting song for a funeral, and I think its strings are really beautiful and moving, for some reason. Although something by Sam Cooke or Leonard Cohen could also work, I suppose.

This man most definately has a point about any sort of, good old rock & roll song people may consider..

But hell. I'm not gonna judge people on what they want at the event that is, in my opinion, the most important event of ones life. And I'm gonna ramble bout that for a second. Your funeral is, more or less, the summary of your life. While everyone has flirted with the idea of having one badass song played at the great cook/dig, in the end, you really do have to conform and play a nice slow rock song...

Unless yo one of dem crazies

  2. Here is my top five! WOO HOO

    1. Guns N Roses - Appetite For Destruction

    2. Jimi Hendrix exp. - Axis: Bold As Love

    3. Guns N Roses - GN'R Lies

    4. Stooges - Raw Power

    5 - Living End - Living End

Very glad to see much respect for GN'R Lies in this thread.

  3. No one said it was a bad thing to write long posts. This is a stupid argument and off topic anyway.

As for the actual topic, I can't really say. I really don't care about modern music enough to contribute. Amy Winehouse is pretty cool though.

  4. no one else likes Since I've Been Loving You :(

Right here man. My fave Led Zep song.

Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, Moby Dick, How Many More Times and Dazed & Confused are also stand-outs from this particular band.

I have an odd relationship with Led Zeppelin. I go through periods where I completely despise them and wish Robert Plant would stfu about his damn vikings and love. Then I get high and fall in love again.

  5. no offence, but your post was too long to read! lol
Couldn't bother to read all that.

    I will just say "U2 > Muse."

Wow well you guys sure do provide great music discussion.

Here, let me follow-up with a post that better suits your intelligence and attention span:

    "Lol Muse are cool."

    Well, I'm convinced!

Seriously though, you don't need to write a novel to express your opinion. If people want to write out an essay about what they love/hate about whatever band, song etc, that's cool, (and a lot of the time it does make for interesting reading), but there's people who just aren't bothered with that. No need to get lippy with 'em.

  6. That you sing better while hungover? This is a weird thing that is always the case with me. They all say going out and smoking and drinking all night is a horrible idea if you need to sing the next day, but I've always liked the deeper, raspy style a night of drinking gives you.

  7. Axl Rose.

I've always found I can relate to what he's sayin in his songs, so when I have a shitty day I drift away and put em on, cause I don't really have shit else so that shit helps when I'm depressed, I even got a tatto of his name across my chest.

  8. I'm gonna assume both albums are out by the end of 2009.

I agree with people who say that there is definately room for both, completely different genres etc, and I also think its likely that in this hypothetical situation the hype would feed off each other in a sort of, return of the the legends sort of deal.

My main point though, is, that from where I'm standing even if MJ did steal the spotlight and affect GNR's hype - why should we care? I'm well and used to GNR not being the most popular band out there as most people here probably are as well. I'd just be glad to have the god forsaken album out.
