I promised myself I wouldn't jump in on this, but I've had it with you lot!
This topic is what happens when you put a bunch of wannabe idiots on the internet. You all think you're all that with your little sarcastic quips behind your keyboard where no one can see you! What exactly gives you the right to criticize someone who's done a fuck of a lot more with his life than all of you combined!?
D..., Its "harder" to read your comments (fucking seriously!) about Axl's performance than it was to actually watch it. Stop being so melo-goddamn-dramatic. It was pretty fucking good I thought! Especially considering the conditions!
Big deal, he fluffed a couple of lines and (knowing he's got a fucking tour coming up) didn't push his voice to the max straightaway. He sounded like he did at RIR3, which, being 10 years ago isn't bad! I also knew if I was there I would have enjoyed it a fuck-of-a-lot more, having seen Gn'R twice and having the utmost time of my life both times! I only wish they played Estranged at THOSE shows!
Axl is nearly 50 years old, and in the early days he was killing his throat with his singing style and no in-ear-monitors. He might have sounded kick-ass then, but why don't you try doing that for 25 years and see where your voice ends up!? If he wasn't "trying" (Sonny Largo), it was probably because he fucking knew there was a tour after this, didn't wanna fuck his voice up, it was pissing down with rain, and he knows that somewhere there are always dickhead forum members and paparazzi looking to slate him, as well as a fuckload of people wanting him to reunite with his mortal enemy. Think about that for a second, and imagine how you would feel. (Imagine being forced to get back with a particularly hateful ex).

@Stebarker: are you jealous or just a killjoy attempter? Grow up! If you were there you'd understand. That show is the best ever, and that is the biggest understatement of ALL TIME!

Hope you're all having a wicked time and taking loads of photos!

With 2007 Sports Personality of the year and super bike champion James Toseland.
James basically took on Gav's "Axl" role and the band did Sweet Child O Mine. On the TV show the celebrity guests had to guess the mystery singer trying out for Guns 2 Roses.
This was filmed February 4th but due to contracts with the BBC this has not been able to be mentioned until its airing on UK TV which was tonight.
There is footage to come on Youtube and BBC's Iplayer.
Guns 2 Roses and James Toseland. Filming for Question of Sport. Aired 11th April 2008

Hey guys. Name's Jimmy. I'm an american living in slovenia. 'Nough said about me.
What a wild show in Ljubljana last night. You guys played for 3 fuckin' hours! The crowd was going wild and it was the first time I literally couldn't get my hands into the air. hah.
Unfortunately it was a little too intense. There are some people over here in slovenia who regularly get to shows just in order to give people a hard time.
And I'd seriously love to thank "Axl" right now, because without exaggeration: he saved my ass. While he was chucking water bottles into the crowd, one of those trouble-fucks was trambling me and my ex girlfriend to hell and simply wouldn't stop. Axl saw this and with a kickass aim, threw the bottle hard into the mothafuckas head. He bleeds, and runs out. I usually don't resort to violence, but this was absolutely necessary. So thanks again for helping us out.
OH YEAH! And I nearly forgot, I managed to buy a ticket for my best friend, Izzy (Different Izzy), as an early birthday gift. You may remember him: he was the one who swallowed Axls drink down and had a bloody nose for the whole concert. He snuck into the VIP section just to meet you guys. GNR means so much to him it's unbelievable, and he came out of the fuckin mediapark crying his eyes out. You guys really affected his life and he'll never forget you guys no matter what.
And get this: everyone, and I mean everyone, including security, thought he was the REAL Duff!! So chicks tried to fuck him and people offered free taxi rides and cigarettes. ahahahaha. He just thought he'd go with it . You shoulda seen it, it was hilarious as fuck.
He made sure I give you his greetings by myspace. and he still has all the little souvenires you chucked at him .
Anyways hope you write back.. it meant so much to the both of us. Especially Axl busting that dick's head open with a water bottle. I'll never forget that.

HAHA! He loves that hat!
If anyone can find any links to sites with pictures from either of the Slovenia gigs that would be great!
-
Ahhh thanks Mango.
Yeah he'll be just fine. I'm just glad it was an awesome show and everyone had fun. Makes for a good DVD for you all to buy!
-
Pulled him offstage!?
.... fucking hell.
Sashan don't worry, he most likely isn't hurt, but I'll take good care of him and nurse him back to health in time for July.
-
Awesome guys! Sounds like wicked fun!
You can order DVDs by sending a message to the Guns 2 Roses MySpace, just saying you want one, and including your name and address.
If possible, please make all payments with PayPal as it is the easiest way.
Anyhoo I'm well glad you guys had fun and that it was an awesome show. I woke up this morning and its snowing really hard in London!
Everybody post their reviews/pics/videos/whatever here or on the Guns 2 Roses MySpace!
-
Don't worry Kok, they'll play Coma next time (in July) for sure, no question about it.
Sofika, it sounded awesome, and even though there was no afterparty, the gig itself was a party enough was it not?
Again! The DVDs of these shows will be available most likely either tomorrow evening or Monday (most likely Monday), so get your orders in quick before everyone else does!
-
That's pretty good photography there. Right oWn!
Everyone on here who was there and took pictures please post them!
-
Awesome! Just watched the clips! Show looked wild! Tonight's'll be even better though... the place is bigger.
There'll be a DVD made of both shows as well, so all you guys can buy them!
Get your orders in now and be the first to get a copy of G2R at the Unec and Mediapark in Slovenia!
-
So what did you guys think of it then!? Any favorite bits? A review would be nice for poor little me stuck back in London!
-
Hope all you lucky lucky Slovenians enjoy the shows!
This Rio show was a complete DISASTER

D, I know how you feel, but seriously, I thought the show was pretty good, and then I saw the YouTube, papers and forum comments picking out the bad bits, and THAT made me sad, so maybe you would feel different if you hadn't read everyone else's comments...? Not saying you're easily influenced, but seeing the extreme negative comments can make you do a double take and start thinking "hmm, maybe it wasn't that good...". Watch the show again.
As you said, this isn't HTGTH, so all opinions are welcome. I'm not saying it was their best show, or even a great show! I'm just saying that it was NOT the wrist-slittingly awful show that some people here are proclaiming it to be, and its THAT extreme negativity which has riled me up so much. I probably won't post in this topic again, because I'll just get sucked into a massive pointless depressing argument when I have better things to do than try to change people's minds.
I'll say this, D. If you're worried about Axl not wanting to improve, he's probably gonna be watching some YouTube videos of the show himself and that alone will be enough for him to want to improve. I know how that feels, a friend filmed me singing karaoke a few days ago and I watched it back later and wanted to die... I thought I'd sounded pretty good at the time, and then I was like "OMFG Noooo! Nomorenomore!!!" and got my friend to delete the video from his phone. Axl can't delete what's on YouTube or on forums, so he's most likely getting as drunk as is humanly possible to not think about it!
Besides, its the press and critics' jobs to kick someone when they're down, so give him a break!
And Sonny.... if you wanna imagine you're Stephanie Seymour, you'd best start getting off with your son and stealing your husband's art. Also, just for laughs, poop in a catbox. XD
