This is the first show by GNR and Axl Rose after what was nearly 8 years of stage silence. It had a spectacularly gifted guy with a bucket on his head nobody knew. It had two other guitarists nobody knew, a drummer nobody knew, and a bass player very few people knew. At the time it was a freak show. Eight years later, it was legendary. Today, you are seeing what many considered a holy grail, and like it or not, you should. It is amazing.

    Exactly this.

Seriously, tracking this stuff down is hard. Does anyone remember the pre-chinese era of this forum? There would be thread about the leaks, but it would just be the original poster and 40 pages of people writing, "PM Me!"

Alas those days are over. I miss those days.

Ah, the good ol' days of 2006-2007. Remember when Better leaked in 2006 just before Hammerstein and when we got Chinese, Maddy, SOD, There Was A Time, I.R.S., and [Harley Davidson?] Better all within a span of three months in 2007.

I remember when the Skwerl leaks were out in 2008, those had such a massive reach there really wasn't a need to ask for 'em.

  3. There was a "CD" song that was just a rant from the Illusion tour. There's one line where he says something like "this is the 90s, right?". ha

I think you're talking about Thyme. That one surfaced in the summer of 2007. I believe it begins with a MLK intro.

  4. 3 better? wtf?

    Not 2?

btw the new TIL hasn't leaked yet and it contains new vocals and a new DJ solo...

I agree it's quite "frustrating" that we haven't heard "new" material (except GD) just previously released songs in new form

Better Gone, Better acoustic, Better with DJ. So, 3.

But I can see why people have forgotten Better Gone....

But, anyways, on topic - I like them. Better than nothing. But, I'm hoping there's no hiatus.

  5. Na. I think you did address me when I got there though. I had a small black carry-on, beige jacket, blue jeans, dark brown Kashmir sweater, dark blue-green scarf, glasses, semi-long frizzy brown hair. Didn't make myself known since Im pretty much a lurker. I pulled out a book, and was sitting on the security-cone partition when I first got there. Yeah, the car was a catch-22. They offered to drive me home after the show, but I asked to be left at 59th and Columbus.

  6. ...They then went into frisk-mode, which always causes chaos. YES, THEY DID TELL PEOPLE TO TURN THEIR SLASH SHIRTS INSIDE OUT. They even went as far as to examine those wearing Appetite For Destruction shirts and point out Slash's skull. The same skull Axl has tatooed on his arm. Ridiculous.

It makes me wonder if security checked the guys from Ecuador (10-15th in line, don't recall) who came after me. Both were wearing AFD shirts (or at least one was?) with their leather regalia. Long haired guys. Asked me to take a photo with them waving the Ecuadorian flag. Pretty hilarious I was referred to as "gringo" the whole night.

At this point, they wanted (yes, wanted) those in line to create a mob so they could make it easier to search. Once again, being first in line was pointless.... One of them came over to me and was like "You're coming up here, with us."

Same thing happened to me. Went to drop off my carry-on in Cathy's car (sixth or seventh in line, she was with the guy who had the chaps with jeans - she had the blue car everyone kept going in to get warm in), but peeps started mob rushing the entrance and I got left back a bit. When we got to the roof and I was on the stairway, she pulled me to the front. The security guard with the rollingstones beanie at the rooftop was hilarious. But going down, I got directed to the balcony, and not the floor. Ah well.

    10. Axl fucked up Better really badly at the end. He came in too late at the "If I were you, I'd bet it's true" part. The drums and everything stopped and he hadn't expected it. He then just kept singing the last verse (just use your head and in the end) overtop the "No one ever told me when" part that Tommy was singing. It was a mess. I'm pretty sure he fucked up November Rain again too... for like the fifth time. Not hatin', just sayin'.

Yeah. That was weird. I was left flabbergasted. It was REALLY noticeable.

    11. The person who caught Axl's whistle during Paradise City was blowing it during the song. I could hear it, it was pretty funny.

    Indeed it was.

I couldn't find a Merch table after the show so hopefully I do on Wednesday.

I almost didn't either. It was the left hallway from the stage. I just got pissed security made me throw out my red bull that I purchased no more than two minutes ago. My throat was fucking parched.

    Response above.

  7. Peeps got in at 8, but we gotta wait on the rooftop.

Prolly because of how cold it is. Were still technically outside, buts its warmer here. At least for those in the front! I'm real lucky I got here at 4 30. Heard someone goty here at noon. There were only like 4 or 5 other peeps when I got here! But now its packed. Were going down in 5.

  8. Getting ready to hop over to Manhattan from the great boro of Queens. Yous maniacs waiting on line must be fucking colder than the abominable snowman. You guys ROCK, insane! C.ya in T 5, NYC REPRESENTIN' MOFO'S GNfnR !!

Hell yeah! I'm from Queens too! Nyc! I got in. Security was real tough on cameras. Peeps got in at 8 into T5, but we gotta wait on the rooftop. There's an open bar here, I hear there's one on the second floor too.
