What a show! I had the night of my life!! I saw the DC show and while that was awesome..I think this one topped it. For several reasons.
As I said I went to the DC show and due to circumstancess there, the closing of some sections...I took a gamble and bought the $20 nose bleed tix in Philly. I was literally one row from being as high up as, in section 219, Slash's side of the stage, and as far away from the stage as possible. My gamble paid off, right before GnR went on a stadium guy came up to me and my friend, and the people behind us, to give us tix to the FLOOR!!!! I ended up in section F10, not the pit, not the next section, but right behind that section, still on Slashs side....from nosebleed to floor. It was amazing.
I think Axl was around 85% for this show, better then DC and from what I have seen/heard so far from all the other shows, Im a fairly regular scoper, his best performance thus far and he knew it. He was feeling it. Slash was great, Fortus was fucking awesome. All in all a great show. I am one that sometimes get annoyed with the same setlist over and over but once you are there, it doesnt fucking matter. They only song I really didnt care for was Duff's New Rose spot. I thought Sorry was a nice surprise and it deffinitely had a holy shit vibe to it because youre listening to Axl sing and looking at Slash while hes singing this song that is supposedly about him...it was strange/surreal..not sure what exactly BUT the song worked, at least for me. I think Slashs take on the CD stuff is exhilarting. It breathes new life into the songs..the better intro is killer...CD kicks ass...man what a fucking show....the only real negative I can think is that I really wish Axl would slim down some more. I know its stupid and I shouldnt care but I do a little. Im not gonna name call or be a dick about it, its just what I would prefer. That aside it was an amazing show and if it wasnt for my daughters bday...grr kids...id be heading to Jersey for sure. Long Live Guns N Fucking Roses!!

It's not that we were allowed to move down ... We had to move down. They made us exchange our 400 level tickets for 300 level ones. We had no choice, as they closed off the entire upper level. It was quite a clusterfuck, as no one knew this until we got to the top level and found a massive line waiting for us to swap out the tickets.
My apologies, had to move down. Seems like a good deal to me either way. And it visually looked better then having empty seats scattered in the second and third levels.

The upper deck, red seats, was closed and people were allowed to go down to the next level below, maroon and yellow seats. The purple and green colors above the red seats are seats that the stadium closed up/took away so that they could still consider games as sold out even though they had 20,000 empty seats. A little shady but I guess it has to do with TV and blackouts NFL rules or some shit. The place was packed on the floor, first level, and second level. It would have not looked as good or full if the upper level red seats weren't allowed to move down.

Fincher.
It's dark, man.
Fincher gets my vote as well.
Fight Club and Seven are two of my favorite movies.

Eddie Vedder sucks. Axl can get so much more pussy than Vedder, you or most people his age.
Eddie Vedder is married with kids so I doubt he gives a shit about that...
Anyways, Pearl Jam does some incredible things that I wish GNR did. They are an amazing band live because they drastically change up their setlist every night - according to Eddie the setlist sometimes isn't written until an hour or two before the show starts. The set is customized to where they are playing and sometimes they will add in songs because fans request them before the show or if a particular song is relevant to something currently going on in that area. Each night is different and they do so many different things that each show is its own entity and unique experience. That and they just simply kick ass live.
The fact they record all of their shows and release them as soundboard recordings for people is also fantastic, and every year they release a Holiday vinyl single to the fan club members. Members of the fan club also have special tickets you can order from the site with a special system, with a lottery that gives anyone a chance at getting front row tickets.
GNR should take notes from Pearl Jam
Yup.
Guns was the second band that I was really into as a kid, Def Leppard was first...I was young, but Pearl Jam become the band that defined my youth. And they still kick ass and are probably the most fan friendly band in the world. It bums me out that Axl and NuGuns is not more like Pearl Jam.
Salinger, I dig your signature. Thats one of my favorites.

What was Howard's opinion on the guys that did turn up RNRHOF?
I dont think he saw or heard the performance, if he did he didnt talk about it. And he didnt really talk about the rest of the band. He and Eddie talked about Axl's beef is with Slash and that it was probably over money; publishing, royalties or something of that nature. All in all it was a really cool, I guess, 10 mins on Guns.
-
Howard was talking about Axl today. The gist of it was that Axl is probably crazy but that you have to admire him for not selling out. Eddie Trunk also called into Howard's show and talked to him about Axl and Guns. It was actually pretty cool. Howard defended Axl more then he bashed him. He also said that interviewing him is on his bucket list and that Baba Booey needs to make it happen. Gary said that he is working on it but didnt sound to confident.

So Im a lurker I suppose, I dont post much but I am certainly full of opinions....
It sucks that Axl decided not to attend but I suppose I understand. He wants his current GNR to be successful and I cant blame him. If someone were to give an award to my exgirlfriend and I as the best couple ever I dont think I would attend, at least if I wanted to keep my wife happy I wouldnt. But I also see the other side of it. I wish that Axl would have gone, played a few tunes. I would have been able to relive my glory days, and maybe that is what the reunion stuff is all about. Lets face it those of us that were young enough to feel/see the power of the original line-up are not so young anymore and seeing them together again would give us the memories and emotions of those days.
I am personally torn. i do love the new band, but I grew up on the original. Did anyone else get that nostalgia/goose bump feeling when they were showing the clips of Old Guns. I know I did. I loved that band so fucking much. To be honest mainly I did love Axl. He was so bad ass and what a voice. The dude could sing anything and make it sound cool. I mean Heartbreak Hotel never sounded so cool. Anyway, I had a point here and I just lost it, damn Captain Morgan and Jaeger.
If Axl and the NuGuns would hustle and promote as much as the old one; more albums, interviews, press, etc. Then maybe I wouldnt miss the old group so much. Maybe if Axl was in better shape, could nail the old songs ALL THE TIME, and keep a consistent line-up then maybe I could be more excited about NuGuns. But its all been, in my opinion, a whole lot of waiting and hoping for this nu band to produce. Do I think they are capable and worthy of the GNR name, yes I do. But I am really tired of waiting for them to live up to it. What the fuck are the waiting for!
OK I think Ive said my piece. Back to my Captain and Coke. PS no offense meant to anyone in either camp. I love Axl and Slash. Thats why I am a GNR fan!

Are singers in other bands questioned as much about their rasp, deep and high pitched voice?
I love the so-called mickey voice.
If a singer in another band would sound like Axl does sometimes I wouldn't listen to them.... it's realy bad sometimes.... and good sometimes. The band is great
If you expect Axl to sound 25 for the rest of his life, then go home. If you expect him to sing his balls off to the best of his abilities, then stay. The man sounds awesome and gives every show the best of what he has. I respect and enjoy the hell out of it. Calling him out on this is ridiculous.
I am home...
I listen mostly because of the great band and axls good to but not all the time
lol its not use with them man, they just don't get it. We love Axl and the Band just as much as they do, but we are honest. No one says he has to be 25 yrs old again, but if you can't pull off a song and hit any notes in it, much like Sorry. Just don't have it in the set lol
Amen. I love Axl, hell I seen themtwice in 06, bought 4 copies of CD, and Im here now. But I have to agree, if three hour shows arent allowing you to be and sing your best, why do them. Why not play 2 hours of shit you can nail. I mean maybe if he didnt have to go balls out for 3 hours he could nail some of this stuff. Yeah just my humble opinion.

I love Axl and this band. Im definitely not one to knock this version of Guns, I dont really care about a reunion. Yes, Im an old fan seen the original Guns, well with Matt, twice. But I gotta to be honest here, Axl sounds terrible. If that is what he has to do to his voice, Mickey Mouse/Falsetto, then he should just stick to the studio. I only caught the end of Estranged and now RQ and it sounds terrible. Anyway, just my humble opinion. I wish it werent true but I mean come on this is bad. PS the band sounds great.

Great cover. I got the track and the player pack. Its really cool how he's releasing this stuff. Not only should GNR think about doing this but all bands should.
-
It may just be me hearing things, but when you listen to the audio of the entire show....during Ron's solo.....at 1.31.21....it sounds like.......Estranged . What you reckon? Just very briefly
That is indeed the main riff from Estranged, unless my ears are horribly deceiving me. FUCKING AWESOME, that can only meen he's been practicing !!
ESTRANGED NO DOUBT!!! NEXT COMA AND BREAKDOWN!!
My two cents are as follows:
I am really looking forward to hearing this in a really good quality. Someone out there had to have gotten this right? I mean someone that has the capabilities to make it pro looking and sounding.
Although the quality isnt the best, and that may skew my view some but, In my humble opinion its the best this new band and possibly, the band period, has ever sounded. Axl sounds like he has the power and force behind his vocals again. Although I do think that he has some work to do. This I Love sounded great except for the end. That needs a little work, but I think by the 3rd 4th show he'll be hitting that. As for his looks, not that they really matter to me, he does look a little heavy but Im sure that will come off with the tour. I like the no braids, but not a fan of that mustache. He needs the goat, a beard, or nothing. That thing kinda reminds of the village people.
DJ Ashba seems to be a perfect fit. I think he is filling Slashs shoes very admirablly. As many have said, the dude looks like he belongs in Guns, not NIN, or whatever the hell it is Bucket is. I do think Bucket can play but he just didnt look right in Guns. And I think DJ plays much, much, much better then Robin. I think Robin playing TIL live would be a dissaster, hes just to sloppy.
I do miss Brain though. I think Frank is good but he doesnt make me listen to the drums like Brain does. If you know what I mean.
So thats my two cents. Im 32, been a fan forever, and its exciting that Axl is coming out of hiding again and tearing up a stage with an extremely talented band, and so far this may be the best of those bands. Hopefully it will last and they will put another CD out by summer next year, or sooner.
I will go back to lurking now.

You realize what's so awesome about this?
It's that he's posting directly to the fans instead of some media channel.
Agreed. Axl has always had my respect because he wasnt the one running his mouth all these years and this gesture just backs it all up.
Thank you for taking the time to write this up Axl and thank you for reaching out to us in this way.

Well...its definitely Absurd that this is what we got...but....its good, I think.
Some parts do sound like it wasnt organic, but pasted together. That first Slash, I assume its him, lick at 51 seconds for example doesnt seem to fit.
The guitar work in the chorus too is..ehh.
The lead at 1:52 though is killer...does Richard play that one...looks like he did live.
I think the middle part could be a bit longer.
The little lead at 3:00 is cool as is the lick at the end.
The bass and drums are killer. Brain will always be GNRs best drummer in my humble opinion.
Thats my review no one asked for lol
Are there better choices...Perhaps (pun intended) But, Ill take it. I mean we finally have something positive to talk about. Does this mean more is coming? Theyve had plenty of time and imagine Atlas or Perhaps With Slash and Duff.....It could be worse, we could be in bed sleeping. I'll take it!
