Digging the added funk in OMG. Probably still prefer the End of Days version but it's nice to have this version, too.

I agree with your thoughts on OMG.

While I understand the general antipathy shown towards "Silkworms," I think the worst thing one can say about it is that it just doesn't sound like a GnR song.

Still, between the leaks of Going Down, OMG, and Silkworms the band demonstrates a great deal of musical range.

The whole show seems to have disappeared from YouTube.  Are people finding it or is it gone with the wind?

Without posting a link, let me say dimeadozen is a fantastic resource for live music from a variety of bands and genres.

Regarding the NuGuns vs Old, I suppose it's a moot point now. I grew up with the original line up, but I can still enjoy Buckethead killing it on Nightrain circa 2002.

I will never understand the difficulty this band has in releasing new material. Once CD dropped, I thought that would usher in a new era of releases, and here we are, a decade later, still waiting for another album. Worse, there's all the stories of essentially another album (possibly two) already recorded. I know it's a cash cow, but don't these guys get sick of playing Appetite?!

  3. What are these 11 songs? Where did they come from then?

Will the remaining 7 see the light of day......

Blood In The Water - Leaked - 2013/08/13

    Better (Ashba) - Leaked - 2013/08/16

    Better (Acoustic) - Leaked - 2013/08/16

    Going Down - Leaked - 2013/08/16

    Shackler's Revenge (Remix)

    If The World (Remix)

    This I Love (Remix)

    Silkworms

    Oh My God

    Ballad Of Death (Instrumental)

    Mi Amor (Instrumental)

Love to see what they've done with Oh My God. I've always liked the lyrics to that song.

Seems like it's just a matter of time until the remainder leak. Can't say I'm anxious to hear instrumental tracks though.

Final thought, the really messed up part of all this is that as a fan, if the band posted official remixes on their website of remixed tracks, b-sides, or old tracks that never made the album and charged a buck a song I'd gladly pay it.

  4. Isn't the real complaint the lack of a new album? We're not really complaining that *leaked* demos which comprise a fraction of the material during the CD recording sessions mean there is no new material? It seems there is, but for whatever the reason (and frankly it doesn't matter anymore) hasn't seen the light of day.

Robin was the driving creative force behind Better. If subsequent players want to play with the material and adapt it, great. It's a leak. It's not an official release. That it was leaked is probably more indicative of what those indie the GNR camp think of them. The General didn't leak. It's likely buried in an underground vault somewhere...
