While what you two said is true and no one buys rock singles, there are no great rock acts out there that even come close to comparing to the ones of old. The top 10 selling tours of 2010:
1. Bon Jovi
2. ACDC
3. U2
4. Lady Gaga
5. Metallica
6. Michael Buble
7. Paul Mccartney
8. The Eagles
9. Roger Waters (Pink Floyd)
10. Dave Matthews Band
The only rock act on that list to emerge since the mid 80s is Dave Matthews Band and they arent a very traditional kind of rock band, and they barely made the list. I dont know if there are any up and coming great rock acts, but if there are apparently no one gives a shit.
Lady Gaga, hahahaha, good one!

I am saddened by this thread.

Here's to two years of CD tearing up the airwaves! I think I heard it once on the radio.

Hey,
Going off performances and how he's looking etc, do you think he's in better shape now or back in 06?
Looking at pics he looks quite a bit slimmer in 06, he looks bigger now, not fat though, just stockier.
How does he look now compared to the first gigs 09, he certainly looks in great shape i think, the stockier look suits him more.
Cheers, just curious.
Is anyone able to measure his ass through video footage like they did to measure the amount of oil being spewed in the Gulf?

I think I'd call it Guns N' Roses. The time is right for a s/t
What would you call it, if it was up to you.
Use Your Illusion 3

I respect him for trying something new. On the other hand, I'd rather dips my balls in a speeding blender than sit and listen to this record.

Right Said Fred is a pretty hoss band.

Say what you will, but you have to give it up to a band that has endured the test of time..which Oasis has. Sure, there's been some lineup changes, but they've kept on with a good product.
No disrespect to Nirvana. They did what they did for those few years.
no disrespect but what are you talking about? oasis didn't 'stand the test of time' because they've been around longer. that's a ridiculous argument considering we all know why nirvana came to an end. nirvana's music has stood the test of time and still has. im sure more people know kurt cobain than noel gallagher. or 'smells like teen spirit' more than 'wonderwall'.
Thank you for your comments. Oasis is far more popular worldwide than in the US, and has been for some time.
..you're welcome? like i said, that is not a fair argument considering nirvana isn't together anymore since their frontman died. nirvana was huge at their peak. they've also had a much bigger impact on music than oasis ever could. had nirvana stayed together, i would bet that they would be 10x bigger than oasis, US and worldwide
You are thinking in terms of the US alone. Oasis reformed Britpop just as Nirvana killed the hair bands. I realize Cobain died. I don't know if Nirvana was bigger at their peak. Oasis played two 250K concerts back to back in two nights in England. I don't know if Nirvana touched that at their peak.
I'm not hating on Nirvana, I like their music. All I was saying is I respect Oasis for putting out a quality product for 15+ years.
yeah i understand that but nirvana can't be compared to oasis in terms of quantity so i don't understand what you're getting at with that
I don't recall saying Oasis was better by default because they've put out more albums. I said people should respect them for enduring like they've done, and putting out quality music.
Personally, I like Oasis' music better. That is just a personal preference.

Plus Gwen would be gettin it till the neighbours complain about the smell.
Fantastic line man.

Limp Bizkit can come up with some catchy stuff, I will give them that. You can always count on Durst to be on the douchey side of things though.

Little boy's balls everywhere rejoice.

I wonder if he'll roll back out with that same stupid haircut?

No doubt is a good band. Personally, I didn't care for Rock Steady too much. I think it felt too safe and radio friendly opposed to TK..which became radio friendly after the fact. ROS was a good sophomore effort, although it didn't have the charm as TK.
I really hope they get back to their roots with this new album. I think touring and recording at the same time will bring them back to more of their old style.

90's grunge/modern hip hop
80's New wave/hair bands/birth of hip hop
70's Arena bands/punk/Classic Rock
60's Birth of Britpop/Hippie Rock
What are you talking about? It's pretty much confirmed that emo/indie are the defining genres of the '00's.
What are you talking about? Who told you that? We're talking on a mainstream level. How can indie be mainstream?

Scott just wished Axl the best "from the bottom of his heart" right before he introduced Welcome to the Jungle.
How does he sound? I really like Scott, he didn't look or sound so good at the AMAs the other night.
He sounded normal and sober.
Cool, good to hear.

They'll be doing full on country albums in 2-4 years. Whatever sells, that's Nickelback's journey.

What a crap musical decade we have since 2000.. I can list 4 or 5 great albums like Chinese Democracy, Is This It, Dig Out Your Soul, Back to Black and some other good albums, but that's all.
I was listening to "Somewhere in England" from George Harrison and it's easily better than almost all the current music out there.
We are full of shit music like Akon, Soulja Boy, Tokio Hotel, Jonas gay Brothers and Kanye West nowadays, it's the worst decade for music, ever.
I see what you mean. I think this decade has lacked central themes in the mainstream world.
90's grunge/modern hip hop
80's New wave/hair bands/birth of hip hop
70's Arena bands/punk/Classic Rock
60's Birth of Britpop/Hippie Rock
This decade just hasn't had anything to define it. I think there's been some great albums, but they're quickly dismissed. Maybe in this Ipod, download an album in two minutes world we live in now, new musical landscapes can't linger and grow like the days of old.
Chin up mate, Oasis is alive and well.
Cheers.

Oasis-Dig Out Your Soul
MGMT-Oracular Spectacular
Kings Of Leon-Only By The Night
I've yet to hear The Verve, Cage The Elephant, GNR, Glasvegas, Fleet Foxes, Metallica, AC/DC, and more's latest offerings as well.
Great list, I personally would put The Verve Forth in for KOL. Give it a listen when you have time. I'd put Weiland's album in forth place at this point. I'm not going to rate CD since it's not officially out yet.
Cheers.

Dave Matthews Band-Barteneder-Busted Stuff
Guns N Roses-Coma-UYI 2
Primal Scream-Sometimes I Feel So Lonely-Riot City Blues
