If we're going down this road I'm also thinking of removing "think about you" and "anything goes" from appetite and scrap Lies, SI and CD all together and you'd have a band that's only put out 18 songs, but all of them absolutely top notch.

A finished studio version of Reckless Life should have gone on Appetite in place of Anything Goes.

  2. Had UYI been one album, I would have liked to see it stay heavy, raw hard rock.  Always thought tunes like Don't Cry, November Rain, Yesterdays, Breakdown, KOHD would have been great on an Axl solo record.  My tracklist would have been something like this:

    Right Next Door To Hell

    You Could Be Mine

    Perfect Crime

    Garden of Eden

    Dust N' Bones

    Civil War

    Double Talkin Jive

    Pretty Tied Up

    Don't Damn Me

    Dead Horse

    Estranged

    Locomotive

    Coma

This album would have been every bit as good as Appetite.

  3. 2 playoff runs based largely on LUCKY breaks (Demarcus Ware wrongfully called offsides, Patrick Crayton drop, Kyle Williams fumbles, Niners dropped INTs, Asante Samuel dropped INT, Welker drop, Tyree fluke) and a hot defense.  Hell, Miles Austin had to lose a game clinching TD (and season ender for the Giants) in the lights for the Giants to even backdoor into the playoffs in 2012.

In 14 other seasons, Eli had 4 playoff appearances (one and done) and 10 missed playoffs.

Eli is the luckiest QB in NFL history and quite honestly given the passer friendly era he played in, a slightly below average QB (almost identical QB rating as JOE FLACCO).  I can't remember a single season in Eli's career when I viewed him as a top 5 QB, other than turning the ball over.

Regarding the setlist, they  played the same set list back in the day majority of the times.

I view things a bit differently. When they are back in the NJ/NYC area, I'll go see them no matter what unless something happens in my personal life. They are my favorite all time band. They won't be around forever. Neither will I.

I feel the same.  I've had that discussion with my girlfriend when the band first reunited.  Given the volatile history of Guns and the abuse these guys put their bodies through in their younger years, it could all end in the snap of a finger.  I'm going to see Guns anytime they're in my area for as long as it lasts......regardless of setlist.  It would be a regret if I didn't go when I had the opportunity.

  5. I'm not a big fan of all of the covers, I wish they played only GNR tunes.  So much great stuff on the Illusions to choose from compared to the cover songs.  However, this talk of never changing the setlist is interesting.  I'm not a huge concert goer, try to go to 1 or 2 a year plus every GNR show in my area.  I saw Korn and AIC this summer, both bands play the same set every single night and only play for 1 1/2 hours each.  Guns plays for 3 hours.  I'm a big AIC fan and they have the catalog to play for much longer.....it's a bit disappointing that most of these bands play such short sets every night.  It also seems like not changing the setlist is the norm among most bands.  Why should GNR be criticized for something that most bands are doing.

  6. Interestingly enough, 2006 in Worcester Ma is the worst Guns show I've ever been too, by far.  I don't think it was the fault of the band, it was just terrible sound.  Couldn't hear a word Axl was singing almost the entire show.  Axl got pissed at one point and tried to storm off stage, Tommy stopped him.  I remember Axl saying a few times that he couldn't hear anything.  I've seen Guns in 93, 02, 06, 11, 12, 16, and 17 and 06 was by far the worst.

  7. I think the advantage Frank brings to the band is chemistry.  He seems to get along great with everyone and he keeps his mouth shut.  How long would a tour last with the risk of Adler spouting off about something and then relapsing.  How long before Sorum shot off his big mouth about something.  Frank might not be the greatest drummer of all time, but he keeps the ship afloat.
