  1. Fellow GNR fans,

It is with regret to inform you that mygnrforum.com GNR Fan Forumwill be closing as of Friday April 15th.

Running mygnrforum.com since December 31st 2001 has been fun for a long time. It’s made me discuss and meet a whole lots of great GNR fans from all over the world (you know who you are), it’s also gave me the opportunity assist many GNR concerts for free, meet the band and Axl Rose.

In recent years, some aspects have grown to be whole lot less fun: leaks, lack of communication from management, even lawyer letters from the band. Those I lived with and became accustomed to.

Running internet Forum for a large website such as mygnrforum.com (38,452 members) and ten times more fans visiting (guests) requires expensive servers for which the monthly costs are significant.

Absence of promotion of Chinese Democracy, still no US tour, waiting for new material, the recession, are all factors which affect how much money can be made to offset the hosting fees which have been significantly higher than what ads and donations bring in.

I do thank the few supporters who have made donations. Unfortunately, it’s something that never really took off as only few people were able to donate (190$ in the last year). Supporters who have made donations in the last year have been informed how they can get a pro-rata refund if they wish.

So for many years now, I’ve been putting up my own money to help keep alive the Forum. This is a situation which I have discussed with GNR many times. Aside from expressing they want mygnrforum.com closed in the past, even after being offered, GNR has not shown any concrete interest in supporting and/or taking over the mygnrforum.com.

Aside from not making any business sense to run the Forum, it’s grown to expose me as the owner of the site to lawyer letters threatening lawsuits. So it’s making sense to throw the towel now and just close the mygnrforum.com. I guess GNR will finally have what it has wanted for a very long time!

I do believe that this was the best GNR fan Forum of all, with the best infrastructure, best moderating team and best forum members (GNR fans). It’s a shame that could not grow into something more. I often browse other band’s websites and fan forums and truly envy how those other bands have embraced the internet, fan forums, and fans! But not GNR unfortunately. I often think that the Forum could have been so much more for GNR. But then again GNR could also be so much more. But it’s currently not, and has not been for some time now. Great band, great music, great signer, but not so great marketing.

Thank you all for your continued interest during the last 10 years, I truly hope all the GNR fans will be able to find a place to continue to exchange. Thank you to all the forum members who made mygnrforum such a great place over the years, and a special thank you to all the members of the moderating team (past and present) who have put so much of their time into this. Special thanks to Highvoltage, Montrealer and Madison for their implication over the years of running this place.

I also wish all the best to GNR and to Axl Rose for the future.

  2. * cd didn't sell because it wasn't good.

Plenty of awful movies and CDs sell that aren't even in the vacinity of good. These days your product doesn't have to be good, you just have to sell it right ie black eyed peas

  3. axl has burned fans too many times to have that tweet come up and not have a legit response from he himself and the tweet removed. people have too much money at stake. he could of just signed in as Dexter came on here and simply said "hey you big bunch of fags the shows aren't canceled I'll see you there" and that's the end of everything.

but GNR camp doesn't make decisions based on fans

  4. This really is ultimate karma. She's been on this forum for years, moderating this forum. So many times I have seen her go far and beyond and abuse her power just because she can. I've seen her let some people slide with SOOOOO much while others never had a chance. Now, the leader of Guns N' Roses, who at some point had to have been one of her idols, comes on here and just really fucking gives it to her, to the point where I almost felt bad for her, but then I think back to all the times where she was making it hard for me to come on a guns n' roses forum as a silly 19 year old. It should be the easiest thing to do, but she was so quick on banning everyone. I ran into many problems with her because my best friend who introduced me to GNR lived down the street from me, so she always claimed we were the same person. I constantly had to defend myself to her and it was a pain in the ass.

Well now her idol just verbally raped her, and she has lost her power as a moderator on here, which she has been doing for years. It makes me think I better be nice to people in my life more, because I would never want karma to come around and bite me on the ass like this.

  5. whenever Madison was removed as mod I wonder if it was like the scene in "The Lovely Bones" (bad movie) where all the kids who were rape/killed by that guy were set free into heaven, except instead of kids who were molested and murdered it was past members whom madison banned, and instead of heaven its the mygnrforum.

  6. I REALLY want to be in the front row. Not only is this my first ever Gnr concert, but it's my first concert period. I found a way to be in Toronto for buisness the day before, but day of the concert I have NOTHING to do. So I'll be sitting in my thermal gear nice and early.

The anticipation of being there for 12 hours before Uncle Axl starts kicking ass will be awesome.

  7. wow. i just could not believe someone posted that question! duh. must be a huge fan.

Yeah I'm not too big of a fan. I just posted when do tickets go onsale so I can buy them and take a bus ride to Toronto for 2 days and be homeless/ carless while there.

  8. I'm going to be taking a road trip during this time and I would like to come to Toronto for this show. The only problem is I won't have extra money to buy snow tires. Are they an absolute necessity in Canada in early Feb? Could I squeak by without them? I've never even driven in snow before.

Trust me, you'll need the best snow tires you can get. Last year I took my sports car out (with summer tires) in January on what looked to be a dry road, clear day. Later, while I was on the highway a mega snow storm hit and it's a miracle I made it home. Was all over the road. You might wanna think of renting a car in this area - still probably cheaper for you than a set of winter tires.

    Yeah that's what I figured.

I looked up bus tickets so I'm just going to end up doing that. I'm going to go the day before and catch the Raptors play, then GNR the next night, followed by a bus ride. I'm going to be homeless in toronto for a 2 days to see Gnr. This is going to be epic.

Hopefully Toronto smells really nice to Beta
