  1. Hey all,

Now that we've seen Steven Adler rejoin GN'R on stage the last missing piece for a true reunion tour (whatever your feelings are on the tour/lineup/ticket prices/etc.) is Izzy.

I figured this might be a fun thread to post your bets on which show if any you think Izzy would be most likely to appear. While he may indeed be sitting this whole tour out over a money spat it is also perfectly possible that he and Guns may reconcile in short order. It would hardly take a mammoth contract to get him out for a few songs at one or two of the dates before the end of the summer.

I'm going to the Toronto show this Saturday (sec. 214L row 8...anyone nearby??) and I'm crossing my fingers somehow, someway Izzy will be there. With that said, as a betting man I'd place my odds on a California show at the end of the tour. a song or two with all 5 of the original boys on stage would make for an epic end to the summer.

So place your odds on "Where's Izzy?" turning into "OMFG THERE'S IZZY!"

    RULES:

Pick 3 shows you'd guess Izzy to show at (rank order). As your wild cards, pick 2 songs you think he'll play.

    Scoring as follows:

-Izzy shows on your 1st ranked choice: 5 Loaded Guns

-Izzy shows on your 2nd ranked choice: 3 Loaded Guns

-Izzy shows on your 3rd ranked choice: 2 Loaded Guns

-Izzy plays a song you guessed (regardless of date): 1 Loaded Gun (2 Loaded Guns if he plays both your picks)

-If he shows on multiple dates you guessed, add your points together (e.g. Izzy showing on your 1st AND 2nd choice date = 8 Loaded Guns)

-If, however, Izzy shows on a date you DIDN'T pick you pick up 1 Wilted Rose (to a maximum of 12, since the most Loaded Guns you can get is 12).

-You may guess more shows for Izzy to appear at after your 3 ordered choices but if he doesn't show at those extra shows you pick up a Wilted Rose for each of those extra shows. You do not acquire a Wilted Rose for a wrong guess on any of your three original choices.

-It is not possible to get extra Loaded Guns for picking extra dates that Izzy shows up at. The optional extra picks are simply to insure you against Izzy showing up to a non-picked show. But remember, if he doesn't appear at these optional extra picks you get a Wilted Rose for each one.

Make sense? I'll go first so you can have an example:

    REMAINING DATES:

7/12 – Pittsburgh, PA: Heinz Field
7/14 – Philadelphia, PA: Lincoln Financial Field
7/16 – Toronto, ON: Rogers Centre
7/19 – Foxboro, MA: Gilette Stadium
7/20 — Foxboro, MA: Gilette Stadium
7/23 – East Rutherford, NJ: MetLife Stadium
7/24 — East Rutherford, NJ: MetLife Stadium
7/27 – Atlanta, GA: Georgia Dome
7/29 – Orlando, FL: Orlando Citrus Bowl
    7/31 – New Orleans, LA: Mercedes-Benz Superdome
    8/03 – Arlington, TX: AT&T Stadium
8/05 – Houston, TX: NRG Stadium
    8/09 – San Francisco, CA: AT&T Park
8/12 – Seattle, WA: CenturyLink Field
8/15 – Glendale, AZ: University of Phoenix Stadium
8/18 — Los Angeles, CA: Dodger Stadium
8/22 – San Diego, CA: Qualcomm Stadium

    3 SHOW CHOICES:

    -Toronto (because I can hope)

-Houston (Izzy has always loved Texas)

    -Los Angeles (Fitting)

WILD CARDS (2 songs Izzy will play):

    -Nightrain

    -14 Years

    OPTIONAL EXTRA PICKS:

    -San Francisco

    -San Diego

The highest you can score in this game is 12 Loaded Guns (Izzy shows at all 3 of your original picks at at some point plays both your wild card picks) with 0 Wilted Roses

The lowest you can score is 0 Loaded Guns and 12 Wilted Roses (Izzy either shows at all the dates you didn't pick or you pick optional extra dates and he doesn't show, or some combination thereof)

Finally, if he doesn't show up at all, write your own "Where's Izzy?" sign/stickie/note/etc. and post it to this thread at the conclusion of the tour :) Maybe we can tweet the link to Izzy for laughs.

Best all! See some of you in Toronto!!

  2. Slash higher than Axl eh? That would piss off a lot of the Axl-worshipers. But you know what? Slash has been more existent in the music world in the last 15 years, so he gets the props on this for sticking around. They're both legendary, but to say Slash pales in comparison to Axl is delusional, and only Slash-haters would say that. They were a DUO. 50/50, not 60/40, 70/30. GN'R would NOT have made it big if Slash hadn't been there to do the guitar work and provide the image he did. Same goes for Axl in regards to image and vocal work, but again, it's a 50/50 split....simple as that. So I'm fine with seeing some lists that rank Slash as higher....because most would rank Axl higher, simply because he's the front man.

  3. Sigh. You find haters everywhere these days, eh? As soon as something that requires an opinion is put out there, people can't wait to walk all over it and belittle it.

Go ahead, I'm not here to change that. I'm just disappointed with the way Axl, Slash, and Duff have failed to grow up after all these years, and are STILL Out Ta Get each other. They are in their 40s, for crying out loud. Just take a chapter from Izzy's book already...he was just as much a part of the dysfunction and dislike as the rest of them. Axl and Slash even went on a radio show in early '94 saying they wanted "nothing to do" with Izzy again (don't believe me? youtube it...it's divided into 4 parts). But he just chugged on, both in life and music. No lawsuits, no angry interviews, nothing. He just let it cool down and, these years later, is perfectly comfortable hanging out/playing with any of them. Music = music, not bullshit. In that way, Iz rules, and the rest need to stop and contemplate if it would really be THAT bad to just deal with their issues, person-to-person, and then move on peaceably.

  4. In his posts over the past few days, Axl goes on and on now about how not-really-a-band the old GN'R was, how they didn't get along with anything, how there were secret ambitions and plots and politics right from the outset, and tones down the musical accomplishments to a point where we are to think they are insignificant compared to Chinese Democracy.

I love Axl, but the way he has responded has just made me very upset...to try and erase what put you on the map, it's despicable of anyone. Slash is just as in the wrong, but that's just it. It's a 50-50 split, and neither of them can see that. It doesn't take a genius, or someone who was even there. The very fact that they're on entire polar opposites implies that there is some middle ground they are both choosing to ignore.

And does anyone else find Axl's VERY long defense on why he kept the name Guns N' Roses just.......off? I appreciate the man offering his genuine opinion, but it doesn't matter what band it is...if it gets to the point where there is just one of the people left, then it is not the same band of people, and therefore requires a different identity. Guns N' Roses is not a survival story for anyone but Axl, and that makes it AXL'S survival story, not Guns N' Roses.

  5. Axl,

    A less-controversial question here :)

Didddd something happen to your voice in the late 90s that kept you from singing a lot? ie. an injury of some sort? Let's not kid ourselves, your voice when you came back on tour in 2001 sounded like it hadn't been used in a little while? By '02 it was starting to come back, but those 01 shows and beginning of 02 was a little sketchy.

You sounded AWESOME on tour in 06 and 07!! So looks like the voice has returned quite a bit. Good for you, hope it stays that way for years to come!

  6. W. Axl Rose,

Greetings from near Toronto, Canada! Hope you're doing well these days :)

You rock, and if not for you, I would have no real knowledge of music. I walked into an arcade when I was fourteen and saw the Welcome to the Jungle video playing, and that opened my eyes to ALL music--it's been my life ever since.

    My question is...

What the fuck would it take for you to be willing to just talk to Saul Hudson aka Slash again? Not reunite musically. Just talk. Slog it out, as it were. Yeah, yeah, you have nothing to say to each other... You two have 23 years of crap and counting to sort out. You wonder why the public has such interest in this whole soap opera? Because it's precisely that, a soap opera. You two gotta transcend your problems and quit blaming the other one so exclusively.

Not for the sake of bringing back a long-gone era of Guns N' Roses, but for the sake of human decency. I would ask the exact same thing of Slash if this were him answering questions on this board.

Trust me, I know a little something on this issue. There was someone I was once pretty close to with who did terrible things to me and basically tried to warp me, with whom I became estranged from and didn't speak with for a LONG time, and had no desire to have any connection with...and he kept doing things to make my life hell even when I had no direct communication with him. He ended up killing himself, and now any chance for fixing up the YEARS of shit that went down are gone. So I know a bit about that sort of situation.

The person was my father, actually. So. I'm not some punk jerk-off fan who is just whining to you...I'm on the other side of the bridge you're walking over, and my piece of advice: Go find a better bridge, with a greener pasture on the other side.

    Peace, W.A.R.
