  1. Also felt the "shut up and sing" part was referring to this:

Excerpt from MYGNR Axl chat #6

And I’m not talking change of styles or sounds etc. A lot of people bought that crap and me having gone in other directions seems to many to have verified that. Then you have the mind twisting equally as true horseshit in Slash’s book but I have the rehearsal tapes. There’s nothing but Slash based blues rock and he stopped it to both go solo and try to completely take over Guns. I read all this if Axl would’ve put words and melodies on it could’ve… That was denied and I didn’t walk till several months after having 3 to 4 hour phone conversations nearly every day with Slash trying to reach a compromise. I was specifically told no lyrics, no melodies, no changes to anything and to sing what I was told or fuck off.

Yeah because Axl didn't go into a different direction with Chinese Democracy with the layers, the over production, the sound effects, etc. Sorry Axl, I don't buy it. And if you have the rehersal tapes do everyone a favor and leak them - if you even laid down vocals which I highly doubt.

Obviously there was a power struggle between the two. I think if they would have reached a compromise, Axl could have taken gnr to the next level, at the same time staying true to Slashes blues based rock. I think that combination is what helped make gnr great. After Slash and the others left, others were brought in, hence the new direction with Chinese Democracy.

  2. I always felt the line "i'll kick your ass like I said that I would" could refer to the incident on stage where Slash said "clothing change" or "cut his hand" and Axl come on stage and said "i'll kick your ass right now"

I know WE remember everything Axl says at concerts word for word, but would Axl remember all these things he said enough to include it in a song?

Was this before Sorry was written?

This happened in 92. I think this would stand out in both Axls AND Slashes memory as I don't think it was every day that Axl would call Slash out and threaten to kick his ass in front of twenty thousand fans lol. He also spoke about it later on in a magazine. On another note, it goes to show the pressure that was building between the two.

  5. I believe money is the main reason as well. I mean, when you think about it there is not a whole lot to gain by recording a new album and I think Axl is knows this. There is cost involved with recording and promotion. Then there is the legal fees and lawsuits etc. A chance the album will not get the response it deserves. I would love nothing more than hearing new material but I am a realist. It's not 1990 anymore. Those days of selling 10million cds at 25 bucks a pop are gone. I actually feel bad for today's young artists, they probably have no idea what it was like. Instead of selling 10million cds they are getting 50million hits on YouTube and touring their asses off to pay the small army they employ. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they do alright but i don't think it's the gravy train it once was. Axl is taking the safe steady income streams of touring and I can't say I would do any different if I was blessed with his talent. I do feel the current members of gnr have a lot of recording left in them but Axl is the CEO and he is playing it safe. I think it's the same with interviews, I mean what is there to gain. Will an interview sell that many more seats to a show? But then again, this is pure speculation on my part as I am not in the music business nor do I have any idea how gnr operates.

they say "money" is the root of all evil

I believe "lack of money" is the root of all evil

  7. who the hell designs sites that are not ipad/playbook compatible?

LMFAO, who buys an ipad or playbook and expects it to work like a real computer? those things are toys. they don't have the functionality of a real computer, so don't get upset at the world if the internet doesn't run flawlessly. :rofl-lol:

i still have an 8 track um sorry, personal computer, in my office but i use it mainly for work. for entertainment i use a blackeberry playbook. i know they are in bad shape business wise but man i love their products. i started with an ipad but i could not watch all videos on it so i switched to the playbook. the playbook is perfect size, hd video, and i can plug it into my flatscreen for watching videos such as gnrs streamed concerts

How are you comparing an 8 track to a PC? PCs are infinitely more powerful than dumbed down tablets. Yes, they are nice for running little apps on them, for doing light Internet browsing, and for watching videos. But they come nowhere near a desktop or powerful laptop. Just because you enjoy a dumbed down experience doesn't mean everybody does. Tablets are good companions to a real computer. But if all you have is a tablet, then please don't complain when websites don't run properly on them. We're not there yet in market share.

and i never really got into the app thing either, maybe thats another reason i prefer the playbook to the ipad. i know blackberry has their attempted version of apps, but again, i think its just better entertainment wise

relax, it was just my attempt at sarcasm. i do have a personal computer in my home office and i will prob check out the gnr site from there when i feel like it. but for entertainment, i like my playbook. my girlfriend sits beside me with her laptop and at first she hated the idea of the playbook but she is starting to come around and even borrowed it a few times. i think she is close to making the switch. the only complaint i have is the navigation on the drop down menus on some sites. i was really looking forward to plugging the playbook into my flatscreen tonight and watching the gnr show in hd though

  10. i just signed up for premium membership to find out that it is hard to navigate with my device. i am on a few other forums where this is also the case, it pisses me off. unless there is something i am not doing right, who the hell designs sites that are not ipad/playbook compatible? the problem is the same, when i hit the nightrain link a drop down appears for a few seconds then navigates to the nightrain page so i have to try to hit the drop down before it disappears which is hard to do. i just spent five minutes and never got it. i have complained on others sites with the same problems. i just feel if my job was to design websites, i would to a dry run on all devises before i release my product. please let me know if there is something i am not doing right and possibly complaining for nothing. does anyone else have this issue?

  11. just watched vids of the ritz show and these guys are tight, wish i could have been there. these guys are building momentum and only getting better. thank you mr rose for not throwing in the towel and your hard work and dedication to the gnr vision...and please come to saint john nb

I agree they put on an A+ live show. But to thank Axl for "not throwing in the towel" and his "hard work and dedication to the gnr vision"? Oh, come on. Twenty years since Illusions and we have one album and nostalgia tours. That so-called vision never came to pass and probably won't. But I'm still glad Axl is out there touring so I can see him live because it's incredible.

twenty years since illusions and we have one album and nostalgia tours, goes to show how close he must of been to throwing in the towel. gnr is alive and well, 25 years later. axl is gnr, he never gave up. im sure when it feels right we will have new music

  12. is this the same kaneda from the past 6 years? weren't you anti new band?

anyways I agree, gnr are kicking ass and firing on all cylinders.

lol not the same kaneda, i joined after this guy so i dont know the story but ive been asked this before. mine is canada with a k and eh...kanadaeh

  14. Sad to hear the Canada tour was a huge bust.

    They lost 700,000

Yeah, I believe this was the result of the last time they toured Canada a lot of people were disapointed. I did not catch them at that time but everyone I know who did, were not excited to see them again and I think that forged their opinion of the current band. Even after the recent show people were looking at me strange when I told them how great they were.

  15. GET IN THE RING AZOFF!!!

The last few years make sense now in G N R world. Azoff is just pissed because his plan to pressure Axl failed and G N R moved forward without him. Eyeing the successful tour from the sidelines, now he wants a peice of the twelve million dollar pie? I agree with Axl, screw that. Fucking sharks. But you know what? I believe this will fire Axl up and with that will come great things for G N R. I mean he has some super talented, charismatic guys on his team that can rise to the top. I seen that live in Moncton, NB and was not disapointed. I was wondering why CD was such an enigma. Awesome tunes but was not recognized well by the public. When you have Azoff and associates working against you, it would be hard to break through the bullshit. G N R should jam out a few new songs, release Chinese Democracy Two via the internet. Screw cds, downloads are the future. Then double the current twelve million dollar tour!
