This is a good read..no doubt. I personally think this is the best CD of 2008. The problem is with people forgetting about Rock n Roll...not the band or the music or the promotion of it. Oh yeah btw Axl, if you happen to read this! My understanding/take on this is that basically the old members (slash, duff, etc.) were lollygagging around and you were firing on all cylinders ready to start creating a new album. I'm sure they are great guys and had side projects but honestly if you were ready and they weren't I don't blame you one bit for moving on and finding some guys that wanted to make a great record...because in the end...that's exactly what you did. Naysayers run amuck these days and invention of the internet, not available during your last albums, makes it harder I'm sure. I'll say this..you just made a groundbreaking album in the face of every distraction and f@ck up possible. Hell even your biggest critics basically said, "Axl might be an a-hole BUT he made a great rock n roll record!"...I'm obviously not quoting anyone in particular. I applaud you and wanted to say that Catcher in the Rye is probably the most epic song I've ever heard in my life!!! That's a song I'll let my grandchildren listen to if they ever say, "Hey you old bag o bones...put on a song that will knock us off our feet." I'll also probably give them a werther's original, rub their heads and then hi low them for calling me an old bag o bones.
For every negative piece of feedback their is someone listening to your new (and old) album realizing that great music can still exist! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for this album!
