  1. Okay,

    Seriously guys, do some homework.

Axl, just like the rest, was a heavy drug user in the late 80s. Anyone familiar with the song Coma? Any guesses as to why it's called Coma? Granted, I give Axl respect for kicking the habit and being clean since (hence why he threantened to quit the band in 89 for Slash/Duff/Steven's overuse on stage in LA). The doctor's voicese in Coma are the real doctors that were on the scene when Axl overdosed in 87-88 (can't remember of what drug). It was after that overdose that he quit for good.

It is very ignorant for Robin of the Howard Stern show to label the man as a drug user especially since he's given up the habit for almost 20 years, but it's a reputation that's stuck for good reason. She's never been known to speak from any certain knowledge; she's too busy with her tongue up Stern's ass. I can certainly understand why there's so much resentment towards her; she's just awful. But Stern does speak his mind, I think he was impressed by the demo, just misinformed. And in fairness to Stern, Axl was once the coolest person on the face of the earth, but that was 16 years ago. To take a band that could have been the next Rolling Stones into whatever they are now is warrant for the douche comment. It's up to Axl to prove otherwise.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

Furthermore, Coma was written while Axl and Slash were doing shrooms.

  2. I got the album on tuesday (it was only $28 at target), and it is awesome! The DVD alone is almost worth the price, especially their early shows. The best song on the box set is definetely Verse Chorus Verse (AKA Sappy), and I love one of the early live tracks, where Kurt ends the song saying, ''Thank you very much (ALA Andy Kauffman).''

Ehrm...when you look at the tracklist, Verse Chorus Verse and Sappy are two different songs...

No, their the same song, listen to them.

  3. Whats wrong with Poison, Def Leppard and Winger least they didn't just sit around moaning about how shit life is, how they hate their mums and dads and how they've been hard done too even though their lifes have been alright and their dads at least have jobs to get them money.

They're just a bunch of attention seeking middle class pieces of shit that couldn't form hair metal bands because they couldn't sing and their musicianship was fucking lame. :drevil:

Yeah I know Grunge is pretty depressing (I sometimes feel the need to give Eddie Vedder a good slap for his constant moping and campaigning for neverending causes), but it's great to listen to when you're in a mellow or angry mood.

You say they can't sing or play their instruments, have you heard Chris Cornell's voice? it's a whole lot better than the likes of Bret Michaels and Joe Elliots and Eddie Vedders and Layne Steeley's voices are great too. On the guitar side Jerry Cantrell, Billy Corgan, Mike McCready and Kim Thayil's playing is pretty good, much better than CC Deville and those two idiots from Def Lappard who rarely solo. The only big grunge band which had bad musicianship and singing was Nirvana.

Don't try to defend the likes of Poison and Def Leppard- these are comedy bands, they're completely lightweight, they don't have any power at all in their music. When I first heard Love Bites I couldn't stop myself from laughing - the guy sings like a pure sissy.

My thoughts exactly. The Seatlle Music was real and raw. Poison, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, etc. are all jokes that got sold to the lowest common denomenator (sp?). That kind of music, is like the pop of rock n roll.
