Well mixed, honestly?? I think the mixing is awful on both shows. I've got bootlegs that sound better! Slash's guitar tone in the November Rain outtro from Vegas - WTF!! I can't believe he allowed that to be released. Goes to show he probably didn't bother listening to it all the way through before approval. Plus it appears to be mixed to match their current live sound with the drums really low in the mix. It's missing that thunderous beat that was such a huge part of their UYI-era live sound. It's a real shame as I agree, the performances are better (generally) than Live Era (the ones that aren't also ON Live Era, that is!) - and Axl's voice is great - but the audio mix is a poor comparison.

On the choice of shows, I've got a theory that both of these had already been mixed a long time ago. Slash mentions during the gig that the Ritz show will be broadcast on TV so I reckon that was the plan, but it was pulled for some reason. Similarly, I suspect Vegas was intended to be the live album release Axl talked about during the tour. The fact that they put out Yesterdays from it as a B-Side suggests it had probably been prepared as such.

It is also brickwalled, mastered for ear buds, no dynamic range.

I don't know Sofine11 in real life either, but I believe people are REALLY over reacting here.

He was either openly trolling or was duped. Either way, I'm still stunned anyone put any amount of hope into what he said.

While I don't like what he did (assuming he was trolling) it's absolutely not worth a ban because people believed something that had absolutely no proof or validity behind it.

Agree, way over reacting.   But, I'm a luker and am familiar with sofine11 sarcastic jibes at TB.  I guess I could see how some who may not be that familiar with him could get butt hurt.   I find him entertaining in the context of where the band is at the moment.

The troll might have been trolled.

  4. Snagged my tickets for the Minneapolis show last week, so I decided to pop on and peruse good ole MYGNRFORUM to see what else may be going on.   I haven't visited the "other" forum since CD was released because I was not a fan of it being propaganda for the band.  But still,  I missed the memo that it's now cool again to hate on the band.   I would prefer new music as well, but I am going to enjoy the show anyway.   I was too young to see the band back in the heyday, saw faux GNR 9 times, and now this version will be the 5th time.  Count me in as a small part of the blame me for more touring!!   Fuck you GNR!

  5. I would not describe Del as worthless.  He was very useful for me in Vegas during the 1st residency in 2012.  Someone I wanted to meet was yelling and swearing because he thought the casino jacked up his car.  Considering his mood, and the fact he was surrounded by 4-5 very large body guards, I opted instead to kiss the ass of a professional hanger-on who was standing outside the circle of body guards.   That ass was Del's, and due, in part, to my flattery, Del guided me past the body guards to meet Axl.

Good things do happen at 3am, and hangers-on can be useful.  :)

Yeah that particular version of Shadow of Your Love, versus the rest of the demos that were probably just straight transfers of the stereo mixdowns, had a recent proper full remix which makes it sound a lot more modernized sonically.  I dig it though! As well as all the demos, they sound great :)

I'm loving them too.  I'd probably wet myself if they were all souped up like Shadow.

  7. Now that I've listened to all the demos, I can understand why some think the Shadow of Your Love that was released as a single was re-recorded. Very modern sounding in comparison to the rest of the demos.  It definitely got the white glove treatment.

Brings me back to listening to most of these demos, poor quality, from some overpriced bootleg CD.  Nice to hear these again, as an old man, streaming lossless to tube amplification, but proper quality.

    Me likes!

  8. I just re-read the press release; perhaps I missed it, but it appears no one will be forced to purchase the boxed sets.   In addition, I didn't read anything about people being forced to listen to any of the material.

I'm glad I don't have to get all fired up and bitch about the price or the material.   Now I can go see Avengers dressed as Wonder Woman without worry.

  9. If I wasn't able to get pit tickets for Minneapolis, I would have also waited.  No one knows exactly how tickets are released for sale, but it's pretty clear it's not all at once.  I got skunked on three presales, but got pit in the general sale.

The Metallica concert in Minneapolis is not the best comparable for the guns show. The concert was scheduled in a shorter time frame from when tickets went on sale, they had an arena act in avenge opening, plus tickets were cheaper.  I'm not certain guns will sell out Minneapolis, but there will be enough butts in the seats to turn a profit, which is the end goal in reality.

  10. I got "lucky" with the Vegas show, was not going to pay secondary market prices...and got skunked when they went on sale. My wife had an M Life card, and we snagged pit for the presale price.

I got skunked for the first Chicago date, so I eagerly paid full price for tickets for the second show. I got lucky waiting for Vegas, not so lucky for the 2nd Chicago date. I don't feel screwed, I'm glad that others may now get to enjoy the show that maybe would otherwise not have if not for the price drop.  I'd be fine if they let folks in for free.
