  1. i enjoy him. i remember one day just switching on the tv to see the last ziggy stardust show and it was amazing, so i got some of his cds. not heard much of his later stuff. is it worthwhile?

"Heathen" is a freakin amazing album, and "Reality" is pretty good too. Most of the other later stuff I'm not all that into.

  2. I am adding a discussion thread about Blondie, mostly because I really dig them; from the sultry, yet too-cool-for-school styles of Ms. Debbie Harry  to the amazing (and criminally under-rated) talents of drummer Clem Burke - seriously, check out his work on the songs "Dreaming", "Eat to the Beat" and "X Offender" to see what I mean.

Blondie also reminds me of Guns N' Roses in a lot of ways. The exploration of different musical styles (both even had a rap song :book: ) and there's friction present concerning numerous ex members. In the case of Blondie one sued the band and several were replaced when they regrouped in the 1990's (sound familiar?) leading to the on stage spat that took place during their rock n' roll hall of fame induction in 06.

Fuck, Debbie even did the bandana thing:

    (Now with more Muppets!):

  3. i love it except it seems overused in a few places. like there is a huge explosion during out ta get me that just seems unecessary.

The explosions are to keep whoever is out ta get him from actually getting him.

  4. Of course this is GN'R, just like plenty of other bands that have changed lineups to various degrees are still those bands. It's legitimate to lose interest in a group if it changes too much for your taste or you don't like a new direction - but if that does happen I would recommend just finding new bands to enjoy instead of obsessing about the way things used to be on internet message boards.

  5. Kaneda,

Thanks for sharing the story man! Sounds like the experience of a lifetime, and if anyone from this board got the chance to attend (you know, other than me) I'm glad you made it out. Can't think of many other people who've been more supportive of the band for the past year or two, and the Dr. Pepper business was brilliant in theory even if the execution got botched (when I got my coupon in the mail it was already two months expired  ).

Come to think of it - if they ever cast a "GnR Carol" you'd be the perfect Scrooge - who has a change of heart after being visited by the Axl's of past, present and future. :xmasssanta:

  6. If it's the same banned member that I'm assuming it is, she's done a lot nuttier things than that over the years - including stalking forum members she doesn't like in the real world.

I'm not sure. I think the constant references to "Mr. Slash" gave it that extra pinch of legitimacy.

  7. I wouldn't say that it's the best line up that's ever been...but it might very well be the best line up that could be. Even if all the original members got back together and got along there would still be factors that couldn't be replicated. It's a different time, place, the players are older and at different points in their lives. Plus there's the whole nostalgia factor of that late 80's era - and when that wore off after the initial excitement I think that most of the die-hard reunion supporters would be let-down by their own unrealistic expectations. GN'R would no longer be the most "dangerous" or biggest band in the world, and even with Slash and Matt Sorum they would not be playing to U2 or Kenny Chesney sized crowds.

It's the music that matters really anyway. Who cares if an Arena is 85% full instead of "sold out"? You're still allowed to like the band. And with Axl singing great (as well as in great spirits) and the whole band playing tight as fuck I wouldn't trade that for some unknown outcome.

  8. Does anyone use any good programs to record streaming video off the internet? (In RealPlayer specifically) I used the Googles and found several options to download but I didn't want to put something on my computer that I had no real knowledge of.

    Thanks!
