  1. Hard to know the reasons why but hopefully last nights performance open doors for more shows in Germany in the future. It would be nice to see GNR play numerous shows like they have done in the UK and France. Germany population is about 80 million too.

  2. I read an interview with Richard Fortus somewhere; he believes studio time in order to complete the next album will follow this European tour and then a US tour.

Back to the point..touring is where the money is...so I will be happy for a new album to come out when the band feels it is ready. At least GNR are active and out there.

They can achieve a lot during tours and in between tours for preparing for the next album. People have commented that they want an album now but there are still places that will book GNR. I think they can still go for at least another year for touring and developing GNR in new markets.. GNR next year can do another S.America tour, Austrailia and NZ is another, Melbourne and Brisbane did not get shows since 2006, also NZ.

Bumble mentioned Indonesia and India so that could be built in with an Asian tour. In 09 Japan only got a couple in shows in the major markets. Wonder what it would be like if GNR would go to Thailand or Singapore or Malaysia with Indonesian dates. South Africa was cancelled before so who knows. Some places in Europe have not been played so they could go back for more dates in Germany or the Scandanavian counties on top of the summer festivals. After many long and dark years of silence I am more than happy for now GNR are out there doing their thing....3 hours shows...who is doing that right now. The work ethic of this band is impressive so who knows.

  3. I think it's kind of embarrassing to see Axl performing in arenas that are filled to approx. 30 %, e.g. Orlando Florida in Oct. 28 (5000/16000 people), that's a stiff!

The event you mentioned was scaled for a capacity of 6,846 and 5,240 people paid $339,480 to attend that concert. The next night in Miami, 8,170 people paid $446,843.

There was a Slash concert in Florida a few weeks ago that drew 600 people paying $20,411.

I bring that up, not as a criticism of Slash, but to illustrate the unfair double standard that many bitter ex-fans apply to GNR. GNR can gross 400k while Slash grosses 20k and yet somehow GNR gets painted as some humongous failure. It's very confusing.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting that Slash should be embarrassed that his show only had 600 people at it. I don't think ANYBODY should be embarrassed. Axl is doing his thing, Slash is doing his thing, I enjoy both, good luck to both of them.

But for those of you that insist on unfairly criticizing GNR, I think it's important to put things in perspective.

MSL, Do not know where all the information is from but would be interested in knowing what the other attendances were and gross for the other US dates as wikipedia is not always accurate. Maybe you could point me in the right direction. Thought for the late planning of the US tour it was well attended and great reviews. UCAP tour was a great idea and great for the band and fans. If the rumours are true for another tour in the fall they could easily do 30-40 dates in the US and Canada combined.

  4. I am sick of the whole thing tbh and wish it would all go away. Steven slagging the new band and then retracting his statement. Slash not being drawn on the the whole RRHOF, not liking formals and then saying Axl hates his guts and they are not playing. Izzy not turning up and now Greenday. There is more to loose than gain. I am a big fan of Izzy so if he is not there then who cares. I hope Axl stays away from this nonsense.

  5. What is wrong with his guitar ? It sounds horrible. (Not trying to bitch, Ron is my favorite member).

Not plugged in any amp, is something like a built-in speaker.

    That made me laugh...legend

  6. GNR are at their best live, but I do hope the future of GNR will be putting songs out as they go, instead of trying to put together a new album. That's the only way to me someone who's a perfectionist will be able to put something new out and not take years.

Good point, I like them touring...fullstop. I like how they are building...rebuilding a base in the US....by touring. Rather than releasing a new album I like the idea of Bumble in releasing one single in between the tour cycles or in between tours. Maybe they can do this by releasing one single for Europe for example this summer followed by another single for South America and then a third in the U.S/Canada tour for example for 2012 and then if its Oz/NZ/Asia in 2013 promote a forth single. By the time you have this format you have songs thrashed out and played live ready to put out as an album. There is no over thinking or excessive tinkering in this process. The future of GNR is live and being out there physically. I love how they did the UCAP tour. Touring is the way to go in releasing the old and new music. The work ethic and chemistry of this band is amazing and are all brilliant and technical players. Look how D.J has put his hand print on TIL and how Sorry comes across live. Chinese is a brilliant album and comes across better live. I would like to see new music dripped out rather than an overflow of one or two albums. Ifs its the traditional release of an album it will be the same old story of album sales etc at expense of the art. I love Chinese as a piece of art and its musical journey it takes you but GNR need to think of new ways to get their music out there and in different formats. I like the idea of after 5 or 6 tour cycles of singles. Future tours could offer the album for free as part of the live value added package. Touring and merchandising is the main and primary revenue maker but the album is physically given away for free as a tangible souvenir....just a thought.

  7. I'm surprised that they are going back out so fast because of the physical and emotional pain bumble was in last tour.

It would make wayyyyyyy more sense to focus on getting a record out . That would give bumble more time to rest and give us fans what we really want. And we have so many interveiws of band members talking about a new release and writing mode and no 1 priority and all that.

If its a small theatre tour wonder if they gonna go back to the warfield in SF. They did not visit SF or San Diego in 11. Lets wait. Maybe some club dates to. I think a small Theatre tour is cool.

  8. Like I said in the other thread, I think this is simply an olive branch to Axl, and a way of saying "I approve" of the new band. Now that Izzy and Duff have both guested, it shows they're putting their past behind them and making amends, and that's all that really matters. I'm indifferent to if they ever rejoin the band or not, but it makes me happy to know that some old friends have made up.

This european tour has had everything.

  9. I like the way that Axl is not playing ball with the media...after all what does he gain by it....as they will drag out the old shit anyways. Maybe the press should look out for why this alleged cover band is selling out arenas all over. TBH if we take the press serious for one second then I think they are doing this band a favor. It gives them more to prove to themselves and to the genuine fans. With all this pseudo negativity at this moment in time with the album release and how this tour is going, I think GNR are in a good place and looking up.

  10. I suspect it's a combination of things: This is a great time for a big rock show to be touring Europe - summer festivals are over, so less competition. Traditionally, Europe has been more accepting of the new lineup (in fact, anywhere but the US has been). The album is finally out, and a lot of these places, GN'R haven't toured before, or haven't toured for a long time. The show in Romania - wow, spectacular turnout!

Also, I think word of mouth on the shows, from Asia, Canada, and the first European leg, has been pretty positive. The band has been tight and you can see that on YouTube etc. Nevermind the incidents/bad press, this band has always had that.

The guys should be very proud of this tour. Here's to hoping there's plenty more to come!

The band is getting better and better, great momentum is building with amazing live performances with great sell out crowds. ACDC have finished their thing and Metallica tour is coming to an end. I think the timing is good to build on continuing great shows throughout 2011. GNR and this version of the band will go down in being an amazing band live....the new song are incredible played live...my advice after all these in the studio....just keep touring

  11. So, I keep noticing multi-day breaks between shows. More so than in 2002 or 2006. Downtime, not as much happening for us fans online, but probably a lot better for the band, as it gives them a chance to really see the cities they're hitting, and allows Axl to rest his vocal cords. Anyone else notice this? I'm hoping this trend continues whenever they hit North America again.

Kyrie. Good points. Other bands can play more dates in a shorter period and have less breaks in between legs. Remember when Axl played London in 2006 and slightly over did it. The energy of the band is fantastic and allows the families to come during the tour. ie Paris. I hope this trend continues to and enjoy different cultures around the world, not just the hotels, airports, and venues. 70 gigs is pretty good with adequate breaks. I hope we can get the same thing for next year in 2011.

  12. and then?

I think before Australia they should play e.g. in GERMANY. I don't know what's the problem with Germany, but i think they should play there. A big Europe tour without country of 80 million citizens? I don't get it. That's a lot of fans there or?

Give it time. They might not have been able to work out the right deal. They might want to do a larger tour of Germany later. Germany, Poland, Ukraine - there are other countries that didn't get shows on this leg of the tour. You could easily do another European leg in 2011. They did what, 10 shows on the 1st euro leg, 24 shows on the 2nd euro leg? What's another 10 - 15 shows then?

Especially since the 1st 4 shows sold out. Promoters only look at the bottom line.

Europe will have a third leg for sure especially after these sold out dates. Hungary and Scotland have not been visited and I am sure of more Uk dates on top of Germany..ie Cardiff, Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow, Sheffield or Nottingham.

Oz and NZ will get a return Just look at Pink and Metallica on wikipedia, they play load of dates down under. If the US does not happen GNR can always return to Asia and South America. Oh yeah Mexico too. Should add to 40 or 50 dates. If GNR play 110/120 show in total on this CD tour (from 2009) I think that is pretty good going especially considering the size of venues so far.

  13. Okay so now we have Chinese Democracy, and after the delay of what Azoff tried to do the band is finally on tour. With the occasional break between legs. With all the stuff going on it's got me wondering what's in store for the future. I enjoy hearing the opinions of other fellow GN'R fans so I decided to make a discussion topic.

We all know that there are more songs to come and perhaps a remix album which seems to be in the process of being compiled.

Everyone knows of the other demos that have been rumored to be circulating around whether unheard or old demos of what we have anyone feel we might hear them anytime?

and lastly... We have heard the rumors/hopes for the concerts to be brought to us in some format online or in other ways.

Have not posted for a while but will take a shot at this one. Firstly I believe in what GNR has done and achieved since the CD album release and start of the tour is just incredible. Overcoming many obstacles and nonsense to play great live shows which have been well attended and showing that this version of the band has great chemistry/potential for the future. The news songs are magnificent played live.

I do not believe Chinese democracy has ran its course or this tour for that matter. I expect this tour to finish late, late 2011 especially now that the band have a new management team. Touring is also where the money is made and now that there is momentum, choices and opportunities should be built upon.

In the short term, I think we will have a few more dates of the UK including Glasgow in Scotland and possibly some Germany dates too. A little break and off to OZ. I would be surprised with that distance we will just have a one off gig so GNR will travel around the major cities and finish off in New Zealand b4 xmas. These dates were very well attended in 2007 with mostly double dates at each city.

If it happens a remix album would be great for end of 2010 for an xmas present. There are different versions of songs out there which I love. Madagaskar from RIR 2001 for example. Scrapped with the new intro as another example.

2011 could be interesting for GNR. Great way to start the year would be another visit and play Rock in Rio in Jan and another big tour again of South America. Fans are still crying and demanding a return. Chile would and could get there stadium gig. Another visit to Central America and a successful gig for the Costa Rica fans. At the end of this leg finish off in Mexico.

After that who knows, possible a return to Asia with added new dates in new countries/new markets in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. Europe has great festivals in their summer and there has been unvisited countries so far in Greece, Turkey, Poland, Hungary and Israel. If the Germany thing does not happen this year this could be a good time to visit in 2011. Then we can finish the home straight with a combined tour of Canada and The United States and add closure to Chinese Democracy. A live DVD at the end of the tour would be a great gift to the fans.

After a rewarding break I would love another album out at the end of 2012 and then we get the whole tour again.
