  1. Hey guys, I have a couple of dumb questions as an inexperienced GNR fan.

Not a Nightrain member myself, so I'll have to wait for the general sale. My question is about the start time and official ticket vendor. If the website says PUBLIC ON-SALE STARTS DEC 9 @ 10AM

    1. does it mean 10AM local time (in the area of the concert)?
    2. is there a list of official ticket stores for each gig/country? Because Ticketmaster does not have all of them and with this stupid system, the website does not give me a link before the sale starts and I would like to join the virtual queue which will surely take place once the sale starts.

Never gonna happen - they don't play that one out of respect for Bon.

I know that, but I wish Axl convinced Angus otherwise. They haven't played it in in 37 years, that's more than enough respect. I'm sure Bon would give his blessing.

I agree with the general idea of not playing it, but for their last show ever (hopefully not Philly), they should.

The bagpipe argument doesn't hold, because they stopped using them in '76.

The catwalk thing was so annoying, I understand they did it because the stage was high. Even so should have been up like it was this time round. Also just a thought Brian isnt around to do any studio work to touch it up like the River Plate

Not necessarily. When his illness was first announced it said that he has to retire from "playing at large venues", but can still work in the studio.

Honestly its hard to blame GNR for not giving passes to negative press outlets.  The problem is that the negative reviews out there about this tour don't even talk about the music, all they do is make snide remarks about all the old issues and then carry that negativity into a couple sentences about the music that they probably watched on youtube.  GNR doesn't want all the old shit rehashed over and over again when their reunion tour is being so well received by fans and more objective media outlets.

It's understandable that GNR could be upset about these things, but:

    1. Banning someone never makes the situation better

    2. It's simply wrong to prejudice the whole media outlet, when a negative review or a comment could simply indicate the views of that one writer only

From the clips, they sound much better than they did at the Vegas shows (which I didn't care for); the tempi seem to be correct now; Slash is at one hundred percent; Axl, somewhere around eighty percent. 'Out To Get Me' sounded particularly vibrant. My one question is the girl: what does she actually do? She is playing keyboards there, bouncing around to every song including the Appetite rockers with no discernible difference musically between old band renditions of the song, live or studio! I'm not detecting any additional layers there.

Is she even plugged in? It is a legit question.

Also, Axl has put on weight following the AC/DC thing. The integrity of his t-shirt around the midriff region is precarious to say the least. How is that possible with him running around on stage? I would have presumed a gradual bodily decrease as the tour progresses?

Melissa's biggest contribution to the sound in my opinion is her backing vocals.

I always felt female backing vocals work with GNR songs. I loved having Tracy and Roberta during UYI shows, e.g. a song like Paradise City sounds much better when there's a female voice in the chorus to cover Axl's mickey efforts. Also, she is quite audible during Don't Cry and Better. She needs to do a better job on KOHD though.

  6. Is it just me or am I hearing an angry version of 2010 Axl? This is how he sounded when he got angry, e.g. Nice Boys, Shackler's Revenge, etc. in 2010.

It seems like the rasp is natural for him again vs. forced rasp that he would have to push for in the 2016 Guns shows. Let's hope he's as raspy when the Guns tour starts. Only time will tell how sustainable is him singing like that.
