  1. Hey guys, just wondering if any of you have met Axl and if so what is he like? Also, do you think Axl or GN'R would ever do any in store autographs at a record store? There is a cool record store on Sunset called Amoeba Music in LA that I know would love to have them.

I met Axl in early 2001. I was a blackjack dealer at Treasure Island. It was the first time Axl had ever been in that casino (he told me). He was alone, casually dressed, and very unassuming. He sat at my empty game, and at first, I wasn't even sure it was him. I asked if he wanted to track his play, so he gave up his I.D. He was soft spoken, didn't curse, or smoke, and drank Sprite. I got to spend 40 minutes with him until I went on break. During that time, he told me about the upcoming release of C.D., and the ensuing tour.

He'd told me about the picture of the bike with the huge basket on it that he was going to use on the album cover. In my mind, I thought it would be on the handlebars...oh well. He also told me about Buckethead signing his contract on the haunted house ride at Disney Land. He said the original title of the album was going to be Chinese Communism, or something like that, but then he thought that wouldn't work, and changed it to Chinese Democracy. He was excited about the song too.

I don't know why he felt so comfortable talking to me; at the time, I wasn't even a fan, which had to be obvious by the stupid questions I asked him; "Is your name really Axl?" lol He spoke about after the money was gone, the friends were gone, the women were gone, and he was starting over again, only this time alone; the original band was gone too.

Before that night, the only thing I knew of Axl Rose was the ugly picture VH1 had painted of him. The man I met was down to earth, and humble. "Nice boys don't play rock n roll," but, "I know you better! "

Good, Bad, or Ugly, I'm a Guns N Roses fan, and an even bigger Axl Rose fan.

wait you left out the most important thing. Was Axl up or down when you left the table? how much did he tip when you dealt him 21? Does he split 10's vs. a King?

I believe when I left the game he was about even. It's been a lot of years, and as I said I wasn't a fan, so I don't remember what he tipped, but he did tip, or I would have remembered that. Anyone who works for tips, remembers the ones who don't. He also tipped the cocktail waitress who brought him his Sprite. As for splitting 10's, no dealer worth their salt would allow anyone to split 10's, unless the count was high, and the dealer had a 7 or less (for you card counters). I was teaching him basic strategy, and he was taking my advice.
