  1. I use midi files to learn songs in a piano progam called Synthesia..

But I can't find midi files from the Chinese Democracy album anywhere.

I can't even find a program to convert wav files from the cd to midi files.

I'm especially interested in learning Street of Dreams.

Anyone know where I can find the midis, or a program to make them myself?

  2. im watching bbc red button thing ! ive been waiting all week for this and their only showing 4 fucking songs from reading aswell!!

im glad im getting to see guns on my big t.v but come on , they could have played the entire leeds shows instead !!

what a load of shit !!

I'm just guessing, but I don't think swearing will help...

  3. Here is an example of me (no prior experience playing the piano) following the opening riffs of Sweet Child.

    Sweet Child intro

Yeah, I'm stuttering along, but it gives some pleasure to finally be able to replicate something like the sound of the music I grew up listening to.

Try Synthesia, you might be surprised at how easy it is (no, I'm not on their payroll, and if you watch the video, I'm sure you'll agree that I never will be!)

  4. Firstly I better say that I have no musical training or background, and if Synthesia has been mentioned on this forum before I apoligise.

Basically it's software that reads midi files, an dcan "split them" into instrumental layers (different colours), and allows you plays these visual tutorials at any speed you want.

The program used to be called Piano Hero, but Activision stepped in a few years ago, and the program was renamed.

I discovered this software when it was referred to in this youtube video:

I've never been interested musical instruments before, but I downloaded the free version of Synthesia and tried to follow instrumental tracks on my girlfriend Yamaha keyboard, and I was pretty impressed on how quickly I was able to play along to some of my favourite GN'R tracks.

It is possible to play it just using a computer keyboard too, but if you have access to a real keybaord it's much better.

As you probably know there are loads of midi's available on this site, making it real easy to start playing right away.

Right now I'm trying to find Street of Dreams / The Blues, but can't find a midi of it. Can anyone refer me to one?

  5. Comments on that piece are nasty, damn.

Where does all this anger vented towards Axl come from, I mean really?

What level of knowledge about Axl's, performances and music of the past 15 years do the people that leave comments like that have?

    I guess not much.

I'm glad I've got better things to do with my time than writing hateful, ignorant comments like that about celebrities.

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest!

  6. He was slimmer in 06, but even then he was by no means "fit".

What's the big deal about a 48 year old guy carrying a few extra pounds?

No, I understand that, narcissistic though it may seem, it's naturally that fans take an interest in the physical apperance of a guy that they to whatever degree idolise, or would like to "project there personality into". Not sure if the last bit makes sense, but I think you get it.

Yes, Axl was in better shape in '06. You can see that his arms and shoulders showed signs of mild muscle development (lifting weights), and also his face looked slimmer.

I saw the band live in Aalborg two weeks ago, and I've got to say that I really didn't notice any problems with the 2½ hour show due to Axl's physical condition. Only one song in the whole show seemed a little lame vocally (Nighttrain), and that is probably just because of my super high expectations to that particular song.

  7. Call me obsessive if you will, but I checked bios of all three guitarists and was quite surprised at... how old they are :-)

    DJ: 37 years old

    BBF: 40 years old

    Richard Fortus: 43 years old(!)

Seeing these guys perform live, my unknowing impression was they were early thirties tops.

Any bets on what keeps them in such good shape… hardcore gym routines, special diets, or just not working regular 9-5’s like most of the rest of us??

  8. Great concert!

Nice pyros and lights, great sound (which you don't always get in a sports hall).

Noticed a weird thing - the stand for Chris Pitman's keyboard was _really_ wobbly.

Like it was supposed to be, but still too much. It looked like it was about to topple over several times during the first few tracks.

Is it really supposed to be like that?

  9. I'll be there!

Might not make for three o'clock sharp, depends of the guys I'm planning to go with.

Hoping to get a plain old CD cd signed, please hear at little acoustic set. Kind of hoping for Street of Dreams, but don't know how well that would work unplugged.
