So you are saying that Glazer, an MMA guy, should be afraid of a washed up rock star diva who punches papparazi camera men? Not to mention, a guy who was punched in the face by a fashion designer. Dude, do yourself a favor. Stay away from Vegas.
Exactly. Where does everybody get this shit that Axl is tough? Are we basing this on his Everly / Seymour ass-beatings?
-
People who think they are the shit will be put in their place by Axl, very fast and very directly. That must have happened to this butthurt guy I have never heard of.
Oh yeah - I'm sure this Jay Glacier guy is just scared shitless.
-
Jay Glazer is about to get bombarded by GNR fans on Twitter!
He'll probably get bombarded by a lot of people who agree with him too.
-
As if any of us could possibily know what's happening to his personal life.
this post wins the thread. end thread.
It's not as if we are just speculating that Axl is some kind of hermit type of recluse. It's been said by quite a few people (who would know). The fact that years can pass without so much as a photo surfacing should be a clue that the man doesn't get out all that much. I'm not sure why some of you go to such ridiculous lengths to try and ignore / deny this.
Then again, maybe it is just that the world no longer cares. Maybe he does get out there and the media just doesn't recognize him as a person of interest. I guess it's understandable. It has been almost 20 years since he's done anything that would be considered relevant by most.

Honestly, I can see Axl pissing away alot of time hanging out the house and being angry at the world. If 'Beta's Barn' and 'Jackie Chan' are really titles to unreleased tracks, that could suggest his inspiration is somewhat limited.
Because those song titles aren't some sort of in joke within the band.........
I wonder if Axl is in on this joke?

As we all know, most of Axl's music is based on an element of truth (see Live Era). He seems to receive alot of his inspiration from ex-loves, assholes who wronged him, and his endless legal woes.
Now that Axl is pushing 50, has no relationship (that we know of), and doesn't do enough to warrant being sued as often, what would be his inspiration for future material? Is the reason he continues subjecting the world to these ongoing Chinese Democracy tours proof that there isn't much in his life to inspire him? Let's face it, writing an album about sitting on the couch for months at a time, eating cheetos, and having farting contests with Beta doesn't sound very rock n roll.
Overall, is the lack of persecution and litigation the reason why Axl isn't able to come up with anything new?
-
I honestly believe Axl is viewing this as a life long test of attrition. The longer he does this nu-gnr, the longer he gives the finger to everyone and I think he likes that.
Nu GNR is where it's at.

I think he has to put out another album this year and keep the momentum going.
What momentum?
-
2008, he did nothing, literally nothing.
Nothing?! So, I guess denying having knowledge that your guitarist left the band (again), suing Dr Pepper, and talking badly about a guy that you haven't seen or spoken to in 14 years via internet chats counts as nothing?
And 2007 consited of about a month of touring.
But he only toured for a month out of respect to his fans. Remember, he wanted to get back in the studio to put the "finishing touches" on the album.
2009, he did 4 total dates.
Yeah, but he debuted Prostitute live for the first time ever. That cancels out the fact that he only performed four shows live in 2009.
A tour of America? Hard to see right now. Axl is a very vain person and I think seeing half filled areans of people not excited about the new songs was not too fucking pleasant. I don't know he's looking forward to doing that again.
Yup.
-
Let's face it - as far as momentum goes - these last few years have been unprecedented for New Guns.
2006 - Massive tour
2007 - Tour
2008 - Album and Dexter chats
2009 - Asian tour
2010 - Massive tour and possible new album
It's pretty amazing when you think about all the down-time Axl had since 1993.
Well, your cup is certainly half-full. Some could take the same exact events and have it read like this:
2006 - Promise of a new album. Played half-filled arenas throughout the year. Two weeks before year's end, Axl lets us know that the album still isn't finished and that it is his management's fault. Cancelled remaining shows to finish album.
2007 - March 6th passed - no album, no updates as to why. Tour started late, only lasted two months. Was going to return to the studio to put "finishing touches" on album. Didn't hear from Axl again in 2007.
2008 - Another guitar player jumped ship. Chinese Democracy was forced out after 80% of the album leaked online. No promotion. No single. Disappointing sales. Overall sense of interest outside of gnr forums very low.
2009 - Heard of tour rumors very early in the year. Acquired another guitarist that nobody cares about. Axl wasn't showing for rehearsals. Tour didn't start til late December. When it did start, it was half-way around the world.
2010 - More of the same. Another Chinese Democracy world tour. Most of the "new songs" that they are playing have been played live since as early as 2001. Not surprisingly, no NA tour dates announced.

A reunion
God, I hope so.
He can keep those other couple albums of finished material to himself for all I care. "More of the same but darker" doesn't sound very appealing to me.
-
I was really surprised to not see Chinese Democracy on this list.
I believe the album was extremely 'influential' in ensuring other bands aren't given infinite budgets and years to record an album, especially when the band is only a shell of its former self.
-
If you have to consistently use the argument "he's a nice guy" to justify ANY guitarist's existance in a band, that isn't saying much for said guitarist.
-
Even Ron said in his interview on this very board, that CD was a failure based on the number of sales it was projected to sell
My reason for deeming Chinese Democracy a failure had nothing to do with the number of units that were shifted. I considered it a failure because I can remember the quality of records that GN'R used to release.
-
Since walking out of Best Buy with my copy of Chinese Democracy, I feel more 'stuck with' than I do 'stuck in' Chinese Democracy.
-
I'll never be Slash
We realize this. It's a problem.
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports calls Axl a fat piece of $%-+! after running into him at SoHo House in LA last night

Oh - I get it. You are actually trying to suggest that Everly and Seymour's allegations were a lie. Yeah, sure they were.
Based on "proven" things that you have seen, what backs up your deluded belief that Axl is tough? Please share.
