  1. This has probably been posted already but is FUCKIN IMPRESSIVE .. bro

    http://www.toddkerns.com/blog/?p=560

Btw where'd all the Slash haters go lol? Truth is, Slash got it together like 5 years ago and no matter what happens out of this regrouping, will continue to be shaken not stirred .. especially with guys like this in his corner. Well done Todd, beautifully said. Probably the best commentary I've read on this, showing the true spirit of what this means to the guys involved and the fans. What a leap of faith that they are taking TOGETHER. That has to be the most poignant point Todd is making.

On the other side of the coin, anything could happen here with Axl involved. No other vocalist has had a bigger influence on me and his performance of Patience at the '90 AMA's was like a cornerstone of my childhood, but at the same time he's not balancing his balls on a sturdy surface is he. And either (a) he doesn't show at Coachella at all, (b) he does a Bridge Kindergarten, © there's a whole new enlightenment of disaster or (d) GN'R are back!. Either way, what a risk for Slash and Duff.

If Adler makes an appearance it would have to be Brownstone surely. The song chosen has to be in a low register for Axl as it's going to be played more than Titanic. What pressure for the Ax man! That's why option (a) has to be viable "due to unforeseen circumstances" or the organisers failure of 'blah'.

Well done Todd. Gave a really good insight of the situation from the perspective of the guys involved and from yourself as fan of their legacy in the world of rock n' roll.

  2. Agree with the flow of opinion on here. If Izzy doesn't want to do it then Fortus is the best choice. He's a good guitarist, can perform with energy and looks like Izzy imo - which is important for a reunion tour (or whatever it turns out to be).

Gilby seems like a nice guy but his playing and persona was pretty bland on the UYI tour and he never felt like GN'R.

As for Frank, no. Either Adler or Sorum. Does anyone know if Sorum still drums so bombastically these days? The VR albums sound like he's toned it down a little. He needs to ... And lose a few toms and symbols.

I think it its just Fortus as an extra you can get away with "reunion" but with Frank as well it's pushing the authenticity.

  3. I don't think this is a negative for Axl's GNR, people will probably think Salsh is back in the band and go to the next Vegas residency not realising the band is made up of guys from D grade nu metal bands.

Wouldn't it be funny if Axl set this thing up like 'reunion reunion reunion!', got all the ticket sales in and everything, set up a gig and then it's like, Ladies and Gentleman....DJ Ashba and Robin Finck are BACK!
    Yeah that would be hilarious
  4. I would be amazed if after all this it's just Duff joining the skeleton crew of what's left of nuGNR.

    * Axl's bestie and ever devoted sidekick DJ Ashba leaves the band

    * Ron Thal leaves the band

    * Slash declares he has reconciled with Axl

    * Ex-band members, promoters and others in the industry or close to the circle talk of "hearing things about a reunion"

    * NO-ONE is denying it

Believe me, I'm no optimist when it comes to Guns N Roses. Time has made me very much a realist. But tossing a coin, I'd call heads to a reunion with at least Axl, Duff and Slash, but probably Izzy as well. I hope like hell it's Izzy as well. I'd love Steve Adler on the kit but Sorum would also make it a legitimate reunion IMO if the other 4 original guys were there. Oh yeah I forgot about Dizzy .. oh well, where the cards fall with that one. Pitman or Ferrer are a no-go for an authentic reunion.

Lastly, I'm just glad Slash and Ax are on talking terms again and hopefully mending their relationship. That is the by far the most important part of all this.

  5. This is AMAZING and the BEST news. It's so good that Axl has allowed himself to take the first step of letting go of the resentment and anger. All that matters is their FRIENDSHIP. If a reunion happens, I hope it happens for the right reasons. They deserve to enjoy playing together again and rocking the stage again, a lot more than being handed a paycheck.

Suddenly the Guns N' Roses story may have a happy ending after all.

    :axl::slash::duff::izzy:

  6. I didn't have the chance to see Gn'Rs 'real mccoy' AFD lineup playing and it's something I'll regret to the end of my days....but damn I saw the UYI tour in 92 and it was a mind blowing experience nonetheless with Axl at the top of his game, although the rest of the band was getting a bit bloated already... Then I've watched nuGnR lineups back in '06 and '10 and loved both shows, but it wasn't really Gn'R any more...not after watching the '92 gig anyways.

Fuck I'm feeling old with so many memories....

I'm a bit the same. Was 14yo when GNR toured Melbourne Australia in late '88 and I missed it. Saw them early '93, it was still great but the danger and rawness had been replaced with slickness and an ensemble of backup musicians.

  7. And we're off!!!

In reality, Axl has released 38 albums. You'd have to be a moron to think otherwise.

It really is possible to enjoy what we have AND admit that Axl is a fuckin' whackjob dumbass who made a complete mess of the band and his career.

Fuckin' whackjob yes, dumbass not so much imo. A friend of mine that likes Guns said to me once: "other bands, you get to listen to 7 or even 10 albums from that era, with Guns there isn't much there."

I think we all feel the same way about that or at least I do.

I guess I don't feel that because The Doors, Zepp, Nirvana, Faith No More dont have much more albums than Guns.

The Doors released six albums in six years.

Zeppelin released eight albums in ten years.

Nirvana released four albums in five years.

Axl has released five albums in twenty eight years.

Yep. Agree. 5 albums - Appetite, Lies, Illusion I, Illusion II, Chinese.

Can't count Suicide as an album (4 songs and they're repeated on Lies)

Can't count Spagbetti as an album (no new songs)

Can't count Live Era as an album (no new songs)

Can't count Best Of as an album (no new songs)

    Can't count Illusion I as a double (14 songs)

Can't count Illusion II as a double (14 songs)

Can't count bootlegs as albums either :)

  8. I've never been a fan of the song or understood the love for it, but I watched the video purely for the video and it's not bad. It has great live footage as already mentioned (probably a glimpse of the holy grail UYI tour footage in Axl's vault) and the sub-plots are pretty interesting. To fill 9 and a half minutes wouldn't be an easy task. The quality of the camera work and post production is pretty good too.

  9. Have you thought about adding The Beta and Fernando to the film's production team? They would assure an honest portrayal of Axl and Slash, as well as assuring the movie would be done in a timely fashion.

    LMAO.

    Best Picture 2049 anyone?

Why are you laughing at my suggestion? According to some fans on the forums, The Beta and Fernando are the best management team that Axl has ever had.

If they are put in charge of the movie this is what I see happening:

*A list actors will quickly be lined up

*A list director will jump aboard

*Axl will get paid big bucks as Fernando will use his skills to negotiate the best salary possible

*Script will be 100% honest and not favor any one member. Slash is assured to get a fair representation of his time/contribution to regular band

*Axl will release several new songs for the movie soundtrack

*Axl will do tons of press to help promote the movie

    Is this guy for real?
