Hi all. I've been coming here for 7 years but I have let my GNR flame die as of late. However they are coming to Albany NY and I am going to see them. My question: Is Axl still showing up late to pretty much every show? Should I not expect it to start til at least 10:30 - 11 or has he been better?
Dumb question I know but I'm kinda out of touch. Nice to be back though
BTW, is that guy Kaneda still here?
-
There's a reason why I don't come here much anymore... sigh.

Cheesy but awesome. Much more engaging than Bat 3. That was just SO overdone.
I didn't even know this was coming out so I was pleasantly surprised.

So we was bored one fine Sunday afternoon and since everyone enjoys a good laugh and the occasional Poison song we thought we would make a parody music video. Here it is for all you fine people. Please comment if you like.

They're a very musical people.
BRILLIANT!

Fantastic song! Great lyrics and solos. Its too bad Eddie didn't write more music like this and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge during the Hagar years.

If it means we can see more of stuff like, I'm all for it.
It doesn't.
Book Of Shadows Zakk is long gone. Shame really, he did some great stuff before he decided to start making dumbed down metal, tuned down to R sharp.
Exactly. Zakk Wylde could have been a southern rock god and made more great albums like No More Tears with Ozzy, instead he got lazy and went the whole BLS overdistorted and undertuned route. I would love more "Machine Gun man" "Between Heaven and Hell" and "Losing Your Mind" esque songs but sadly no. Glad Ozzy isn't stuck in the rut enough to cruise along and make the same ol BLS covers like Black Rain.

As others have said, thier old stuff, (pre DSOTHM) in my opinion is not so good. They didn't really develop a direction yet. If it helps, watch the movie of The Wall, that might help in appreciating how much is actually going on in that album. Almost like a piece of literature rather than an album.
The Gilmour helmed Floyd was more back to thier atmospheric sound but had much less to say lyrically, barring On THe Turning Away.

Seein him later this month. I'll be satisfied to hear Jungleland. Clarence bustin out the pimp sax will make the show for me.

It sounds like St. Jimmy part II. except very bland

This is fine but I just hate how for 4 years Mark Tremonti and the rest of the guys said in multiple guitar one and guitar world issues that Creed would NEVER happen again. Front cover material. The hypocrisy of it all. Besides, Alter Bridge seemed to allow them to excel as musicians.

Yet another reason why Family Guy is going down hill. The fact that they have resorted to using 10 minutes of the running time to singing the surfing bird song. such a shame

Shake it like a polariod picture!
Ah reminds me of High School

Most bands get to jam with former members when inducted. Yardbirds had everybody pretty much, Skynyrd brought out Artimus Pyle and Ed King...
The bands that don't do it, usually look bad. the Van Halens looked like assholes for not going for it.
Thats because all of the members of Van Halen are assholes except for Mike and Sammy.
-
Wow, not bad at all. Sounds like rocknroll. Hagar still sounds good too. Like the Michael Anthony background vocals. It's what Van Hagar should have been more like at times.
-
I like the hits and the fact that he plays the sax. Did you know there is supposed to be a musical coming out about his life.

Was R.E.M.s Accelerate released in 2008 or 2007? That was a very good album.
2008. I didn't like it much though, but a bunch of the songs were far better live than on the album.
Yeah I saw them play like half the album on TV and really liked it. Got it for free from my local library.

All the world needs is the correct balance of ingredients. if we got a new frontman, a singer who is truly epic and emotive and has appealing charisma to everyone, then MTV will pick up on it and batta bing batta boom, rock is cool again. Give it time. Patience is a virtue...and a GNR tune...
That is IT. There is no Diamond Daves, no Bobby Plants, no screaming Stevens, no flamboyant Freddies, and no raging Axl's. That is what rock is missing. A Frontman.

lots of radiohead hate here. and obviously a lot of nirvana hate. i love both bands, especially radiohead. i'd say radiohead is above gnr, and nirvana is maybe equal, depending on my mood.
i think DMB & U2 are two shit bands that think they're great, and people think they're great.
I think Creep is ok, but I listened to all of Hail to The Thief and it's just dull. And not Pink Floyd smart dull, just dull.
-
I'll agree with Radiohead. Thom York just is... ugh.
Different strokes for different folks. I'm not a big Radiohead fan either, though.
Oh yeah for sure, a lot of my friends that like and worship tom york think GNR is a joke and Axl is a dick. (Though they really aren't that off in that)

Very selective about what rap I listen to, a lot of it is very generic garbage but Em always has entertained if not simply for his comedy
Albany cancelled

I was going to this show. It may very well have been from poor ticket sales. I live 45 minutes from Albany and I hear NOTHING on any of the local rock or classic rock stations promoting it.
It woulda been my first GNR show :'(
