  1. Columbia will continue its exclusive run of #1 albums this week as One Direction joins label mates Adele and Bruce Springsteen as the only acts to top the chart so far this year. In what may be a four-peat for Columbia, The Shins will see some stiff competition next week from Universal Republic's soundtrack to The Hunger Games. Google's 25-cent sale continues to have an impact on this week's chart as Guns N' Roses lands at #3 with their Greatest Hits collection. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend:

  2. wewantizzy, you're get a bit too sensitive over Gaga's clearly declining popularity. She is fading, face it and she won't come back. People aren't just tiring of her music, they're tiring of her image, personality and disgraceful fanbase too. She tried too hard and it's backfired.

Moaning about how poor she is when Forbes listed her as earning double-digit millions, she's such a hack. Her entire image is copied from Madonna and yet she claims it to be original. She's very pretentious and comes across as condescending and bitchy in interviews. Enjoy her while you can.

And people do still care about Madonna, considering her new album is #1 on iTunes in 49 countries for an album that is released in March. The original will always be a legend, while the jester fades into obscurity after a few years of success.

  3. Gaga is almost over, people have gotten sick of her. The had a tremendous amount of promotion for her new album and it had mediocre sales compared to her previous albums. She was outshone in 2011 by someone who hardly promoted at all, someone who just relied purely on their music and voice... Adele. People are finally seeing Gaga for what she is, a copycat, someone who steals from other artists only to claim that she is original. Her decline began with her copy of 'Express Yourself', 'Born This Way' was a hit but the song has become infamous for its plagarism. Add to the picture that Madonna is back, it's not looking good for Gaga. The interest in her has considerably declined this year.

Gaga had heavy promo and sold 5 million copies of her album while Adele did one or two performances with two music videos and has sold 17 million, she's failing right now.

Lana Del Rey definitely won't have Gaga success or push her out of the way but she will have decent success (probably not as much in the US). She makes good music that I can listen to, her songs are well-written and don't have any pathetic, non-sensical metaphors like Gaga's have.

  4. Three lessons:

    1. That's not what Rock N' Roll 'looks' like
    2. Having a harsh tone does not mean you have a "Rock N' Roll" voice
    3. Lil' Wayne does not increase your songs credibility

    Thoughts?

  5. Miley dissed her for being discovered on youtube. Rebecca responded back, that not everyone can get a push like she did.

What Miley said was hilarious. Talking like she's a seasoned road dog that put her dues in the bars. I think a lot of people are coming to her defense as much as people are bashing her.

Miley is so deluded, I took my little cousin to see the Biebs' film and in it she said "We've both had to work hard to get where we are" or something along those lines. I don't like him that much but putting videos on Youtube for years and actually putting effort into getting noticed is different than being born into an already famous family.

  6. Lil Wayne recently spoke about a new song from his upcoming "Carter IV" album called "Waynes Word." While discussing the new song, Weezy warned other rappers as he spoke about the impact the song will have.

Lil Wayne is so confident in his rapping abilities that he claims other rappers will want to hang up the mic after hearing one of his rhyme-heavy records on Tha Carter IV. The Young Money MC invited Rolling Stone to preview "Wayne's World," one of the songs expected to make his highly-anticipated album. "There's a lot of rapping on this," shared Weezy. "I want other rappers to hear it and say, 'I quit. I better start making club songs.'" The magazine goes on to describe the track as "three machine-gunning minutes of adenoidal wordplay topped with a triumphant hook." (Rolling Stone)

There's a difference between expressing your opinion and being down-right cruel. It's sad when someone is so immature as to tell a 13 year old girl to cut herself and develop an eating disorder so she'll be pretty. It may just be the internet but these people are insulting her looks and telling her to kill herself, she's obviously going to be hurt when she reads things like that.

  8. I share a birthday with Freddie Mercury (only born much later)

And Axl was a fan/peformed a tribute to him

  9. She has become so pretentious, she's believing her own hype and she knows if she didn't have these gimmicks she'd be nothing. Her lyrics are nothing different to any other generic pop 'artists', her voice is great but you hardly hear it through the autotune and her beats are created by other people. She's not anything special or groundbreaking.

For someone who claims artistry and creativity is a big part of her music, we don't see much of it. Repetitive lyrics, no emotion and her refusal to show gay men kissing in her videos when she's supposed to be the most gay-friendly pop star is beyond me.

I used to be a 'monster' but thank God I was able to see her for what she really is: a hypocritical, cocky, arrogant fake.

"It doesn't matter if you listen to crap, or capital S-H-I-T. Just get your wallets out, 'cause you've been brainwashed baby" is the best way to describe her fans. They annoy me more than the Beliebers.

  10. I just find it incredibly hypocritical that he criticizes Glee after working with Rihanna, she is one of the worst singers in the music industry. I hate Glee but some of them are good singers, just because you hate the show is no reason to discredit the actors/actresses vocal ability.

Ryan Murphy is a prick who screams homophobia when it isn't present but his comment was no worse than Slashs.

I agree that Rihanna is terrible and belongs to a group of manufactured fake crap etc etc but its the whole image and concept of Glee and what it stands for. Its one of those things where people jump on the bandwagon because its cool to like it.

I'm not going to dispute the Glee cast's singing ability, but its not really about that.

Taking it from Slashs point of view, both Rihanna and Fergie have that 'edgy' image (well edgy to their target audience anyway) and you can understand why Slash would work with people like that.

I completely understand about Glee, I don't like it very much either or the fact that a lot of 'Gleeks' seem oblivious to the original artists of songs used in the programme. To me, it just seems like he's saying this for attention, like working with the aforementioned 'artists'. It's seems to me like it's all for his personal gain.

I mean Axl said no but he didn't start talking about how Glee is worse than Grease/High School Musical, saying no is message enough.

Regarding their edginess, Rihanna is known for having an (apparently) edgy wardrobe not music, which Slash claims is important to him (unless he's secretly a fashion lover). They're both quite 'loose' it seems so maybe that was a part of the deal.

Yeah Axl handled it better but we got a laugh from Slash.

I know to us Rihanna is all image etc but her music is said to have a slight rock influence. Some of it can be quite 'hard' and 'heavy'. Not to our standards like I said but to her tween audience or whoever the hell she appeals to.

I can still see how Slash would seperate Glee from working with Rihanna from the public image perspective.

I see what you mean maybe it's bad personal experience, I've just had very mind numbing conversations with Rihanna fans (I mentioned Mick Jagger and this girl said "Isn't that the guy from the Kesha video" :anger:) and they also seem to think any song featuring an electric guitar is automatically 'rock'.

Saying that, Rated R was a decent album, I still wouldn't class it as edgy but as you say, we're exposed to 'heavier' music than that.

I suppose I can see how he would separate them too but when all I hear at school is how 'awesome', 'talented' or 'amazing' Rihanna and her music is, it annoys me. I think I would've respected Slash more to work talented popular artists like... well I guess Rihanna and Fergie were the best options. Shows how bad mainstream music is I s'pose.

But back to the original topic, Glee=awful. I'll just shut up now.

  13. A simple, professional comment would've been appropriate from Slash, along the lines of "I don't want GNR music to be used in Glee as I am not myself a fan of the show but I appreciate the offer" but the fact that he went on and insulted it again and again shows incredible immaturity to me.

The Kings of Leon drummer? comment was clearly un-homophobic though, 'Homophobic' and 'Racist' are two words that are thrown around too easily nowadays.

  14. ok, first of all, she can sing very well live (maybe not like xtina, but she does sound good) and always a mediocre dancer? you're only kidding yourself. she used to be a phenomenal dancer , but her knee injury slowed her down. she does write her own songs (she's just not credited for them sometimes) and we don't even know if she can play an instrument.

any pretty dancer could have had the same career as britney? lol they all tried, but britney has something that no pop artist has. and there is no denying xtina is a flop, great voice, but people are just not interested in her anymore.

well, there is no point in arguing cuz you people like you will never change your mind.

Well we can't tell if she can sing live since she never actually does it. She was a good dancer but not phenomenal, about as good as anyone with a couple of years training.

No other pop star has what she has? Not even the King or Queen of Pop?

I'm not arguing, I even said in my original post that I like her just not for her music. She's one of the nicest people in Pop (nicer that Christina as well) but to me, she is supposed to be a singer and she doesn't do it well (although I love Toxic and Everytime (which I know she is credited for))

I'll change my mind when she proves she has any vocal talent, until then no, I won't change my mind.

  15. What the hell is going on with SCOM on youtube???

In every official video the guitar 'verse/solo' is missing ---> the part from 2:32 till 3:30.

The version on their official channel is the edit version the label made so it would appeal more to MTV and radio audiences.

    Here's the original in HD:
