  1. Hof does seem like a cash making organization, evidenced by arbitrare and inconsistent logic of inducting certain bands and/or members. questions axl posed are very intersting.

Also, I am certain that the only reason the band was inducted was to force a reunion with the original members, no doubt about it. so I'm glad that axl didn't "fall into trap" of going to that horseshit of a ceremony. To those saying ppl would not be opposed if axl went or whatever - complete bullshit. For some of us hof has been meaningless bs even before GNR's induction. so no, Axls decision didnot affect my judgement at all.

ps: respect to Izzy for not giving a fuck as well. gilby on the other hand...

  2. I am surpirsed no one has mentioned the outro for the "Hair of the dog". Despite being a cover, boys altered the ending from the original Nazareth version and made it 1000 times more exciting: the constantly accelerating drums, Slash doin his thing, energy pouring every second from rhytm guitar and Axl's badass singing.

Definetly the MOST energetic outro in GnR catalog!

PS: this is the only moment where that douchebags drumming can be remembered fondly and be actually called great.

THe part comes in the last minute or so:

  3. He has mentioned an attempt by a manager to have him fired in the past.

Slash mentions in his book that there were 6 times in GN'R history that the idea of firing Axl was discussed, "very seriously" (page 217). He talks about one particular time when he and Izzy were "strategizing how to do it". Its also obvious that Alan Niven was encouraging this or at the least strengthening this move by promising his continued support to the band if they got rid of Axl.

All attempts at self-preservation by Axl are usually labelled as evil manipulations but in such a scenario when even Axl's close friend Izzy wasnt averse to the idea of having him removed, its not hard to see why he saw himself as under threat.

Wow, even Slash admitted that? I guess the GNR name "hostage" sign-off to Axl (as he mentioned in the chats himself) comes together with these Alan plans.

  4. I'm not sure why it is so important for people to diminish anything and everything Axl has done since Slash walked away.

How many people actually purchased - spent their $18 - the album just out of curiosity? That happened in 1992, not is 2008. If I am "curious" about an album in 2008, I go online and in ten minutes you can hear every song for free. Curious people went to MySpace and heard the entire album for free.

You guys (pro-slash, blame Axl) people actually contradict each other. Some say the MySpace hurt sales ......them some say millions of people bought the album out of curiosity. Which one is it, because it can't be both ways!!!

Then you say millions only bought it because of the GnR "name." Again, so people are willing to spend their hard earned money on an album.....big enough fans to ONLY but it because of the GnR name.....but they don't know Slash, Duff and Izzy aren't in the band? In reality, that actual number is about 1% at most.

If GnR is successful it is ONLY because people are fooled by the GnR name. But then other people say the album is a flop because of Axl. Again, you can't have it both ways. Ten years from now Axl could release a solo album that sells 100 million copies and people on this forum would say "its just because of the GnR name and people thought slash played on the album."

And the sales total. What are your sources? U all are stuck on the 3-3.5 million number. Why? Where is your source? Interesting that the number u guys are obsessed with coincidently falls just below what VR did. Weird coincidence.

VR has two hits that are classics and still in heavy rotation? Really? Where? I can't remember the last time I heard a VR song randomly played on the radio. The way you guys talk, maybe Serious Radio gave them their own channel!!!

Axl, Slash, Duff and Izzy were more popular and successful and relevant when they were all together. There is really no need to continually bash and put down Axl now, just because you (a random fan who doesn't know the truth) blames Axl for breaking up the old group.

It is so weird to me that the old band is able to move on with their lives, but a few fans cannot.

    great post dude

  5. The guy who wrote this article is a moron.

    This.

"It couldn't be easy being in this band. Every single member must be painfully aware that the vast majority of the audience wish that other people were playing their instruments. That said, they do an incredible job - even if takes three guitarists to do what Slash and Izzy used to do."

"Weird as it may seem, some of these guys have been in the band far longer than the original line-up. That makes it pretty hard to call them a glorified cover band."

Sounds like 14 year old youtube retards.

  6. This thread has lowered my hope for humanity.

then dont fucking read it, dipshit. just because people express a different opinion to yours doesnt mean its "lowering humanity". fuck off to nirvana forums, there are full of pompous self-absorbed bastards like you and your idol.

  7. Why all the hate for Courtney Love? Hole is/was a pretty good band. All the anti-drug posturing seems out of place on a GNR forum. And Frances Bean seems to have grown up to be a relatively well-adjusted young woman, and oh did I mention she is smokin' hot? Not that it's relevant, but still...

    She's pretty isn't she.

Whenever I read about or hear about Guns versus Nirvana or Axl versus Kurt I remind myself of something I watched on YouTube

Most of you if not all of you will have heard it...

Kurt and Krist are saying unflattering things about Axl at one of their concerts and if I'm not mistaken Krist gives a fan a microphone and the guy from the audience puts them in their place imo.

    Link?

Type "kurt cobain on Axl rose" into YouTube, it's got around 800k views iirc

    Here it is...

Kurt comes across as such a douche...

Kudos to the dude that says "let music be music man!"

Oh I saw that. Kurt is a fucking douchebag "I got a little helpless child in my arms." Axl would have waited for him to give Courtney the baby before be proceeds to beat his ass.

exactly. Besides, why the fuck is he worrying about his child now (which supposedly was there, no proof she was - just another bullshit story from the fucking junkie) and did not give a shit when his wife was shooting h during pregnancy?

  8. I like a lot of their music but really dislike his attitude about the whole thing. It's not just his either, Dave Grohl is the same way. They do "Headbangers Ball" and they show up disinterested and giving one word answers , just being pricks in general. Because they were punk rockers and resented being on a metal show. Well it's not punk rock to take the free press and act like assholes, it would of been punk rock to just not of done the show. The whole being a rock star while saying "I don't wanna be a rock star" is the thing that makes it hard for me to connect deeper with their music. As for Grohl, he's quick to say all the time about how Guns became bloated and a joke during the UYI tours with the back up singers and orchestra. Then I watch this documentary on the Foo Fighters last year, and at the end of it it's got Dave and the boys playing with both back up singers along with a bunch of other extra instrumentation. Playing stadiums and releasing hard rock songs with pop sensibilities. Maybe he's realized as an artist you grow to want more from your craft and you evolve to something more then you were before. But don't trash someone for coming to that realization before you did. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be a rock star, it's just so lame when you act like someone is forcing you to play a certain type of music or play a certain type of venue.

dude, this perfectly sums up my exact thoughts on nirvana/cobain. i used to really like em, but eventually their hypocritical, whiny attitude about being "anti-mainstream" and similar bullshit made me disdain them. ffs, how can you be against mainstream, when you're on fucking MTV whole day, give a whole unplugged show, appear on "top of pops" and on a corporate music magazine with a shirt "corporate mags still suck". why then bother doing all that stuff?

also, how can he be so judgemental of Axl by taking literally two words out of context and follow that with a song "rape me", which had such gibberish lyrics that made his claim of that song being "anti-rape" plain horseshit.
