  1. nothing was signed under duress or even during a concert.

Duff, Slash, and Doug Goldstein all attested to the duress. Axl in his chats with us alleged he would have been cremated but failed to mention the statute of limitations running out would have already worked in his favor.

the name was signed over in between tours in 1992.

edit - I have the full document.

You have a document. There were various documents that were signed.

Lots of people have the document snooze72 posted months ago. There was a much longer thread on this months ago.

Your timing also conflicts with Axl own words

Never happened, all made up, fallacy and fantasy. Not one single solitary thread of truth to it. Had that been the case I wouldve have been cremated years ago legally, couldve cleaned me out for the name and damages. It's called under duress with extenuating circumstances. In fact the time that was mentioned the attorneys were all in Europe with us dealing with Adler depositions.

The statute of limitations in California is short.

Given that Slash and Duff continued to work with Axl through 1996 (Duff in 1997) then Slash and Duff would be left with no recourse once the statute of limitations ran out (even with duress). The statute of limitations is something that Axl conveniently omitted in his description but was an important factor in the 2004-2005 lawsuit he had with Slash and Duff.

Section 337 of California's Code of Civil Procedure establishes a four-year statute of limitations for most written contracts. It requires a plaintiff to file a lawsuit within four years of the alleged breach, or similar event, of a written contract. This section, however, specifies that a two-year statute of limitations applies to certain written contracts involving real-estate titles and title insurance.

  2. What we're talking about is how the law works and you can't threaten a person into a contractual relationship without there being blow back. You can't do it in small businesses and you definitely can't do it with huge corporate entities.

Contract under duress would be enforceable if the statute of limitation expires, which is only a few years in California.

So if Axl made them sign over their rights to a multi million dollar brand name by threatening them, why haven't they sued him? They sued him for having Appetite songs on the Vega DVD, so what they waiting for? There's a thousand lawyers who would be dying to take this case because it's worth a ton of money and it's borderline open & shut.

The did eventually sue in 2005.

Anyway, you failed to acknowledge my point that the contract was signed during a break on the Use Your Illusion Tour. IE - There was no show happening that night... so was he threatening to not show up for a nonexistent show?

There were various points documents were signed. Goldstein, Slash, Duff all backed up the duress.
  3. If you really recommend the Nikon D7100 then I'll go with that. I can't believe I just read $1700 being the price for a camera lens. I'm just afraid of possible buyers' remorse if I spend to much or to little.

I was surprised to see you expand on Chris's comment about learning. I thought this would be easy (and originally inexpensive). The boat, hummingbird, and Chris's F1 photo look amazingly professional to me, and I'd like to do something professional like that. I'll be saving up for a Nikon D1700 then, and will probably get it in the next month or so. I guess I have a lot to learn.

I can't thank you both enough.

MOD EDIT: I merged the two photography threads and edited your post to reflect the change.

  4. Thanks for the tips. I'm seriously considering the 7D or 70D or Rebel T5i. I think for the quality and breadth of lenses to use it may be worth it to pay more, especially for nature photography.

  5. Thanks for the tips Chris1989. I've been look at the Canon 7D based on your thoughts. Looks like this might be an expensive hobby but I may as well start now.

Just a follow up dumb question: From my observation, are professional camera lenses standardized so that they are interchangeable with bodies from other brands like Nikon etc?

  6. Does anyone here do photography for outdoors/journalism/portrait/art? I've been wanting to take up the hobby but not sure I want to spend a thousand dollars when I'll probably just be an amateur going on hikes. I'm just afraid the next iPhone and Instagram will be more advanced than the clunky equipment I buy. Is anyone here a professional and have tips and equipment recommendations?

  7. If they had Bumbelfoot on the cover I would have misunderstood Welcome to the Jungle as a song he partook in.

The agreement between Beta and a Guitar Hero representative was allegedly that “no character old or new” appear in the game alongside “Welcome to the Jungle” (presumably GN’R would have followed this up with a request for a legitimate legal document confirming the already in place arrangement).

Maybe someone could ask Beta what character (if any) Activision should have used while Welcome to the Jungle was played :D

Very good point to make. The fact that a new GN'R member wouldn't be allowed to be juxtaposed to the Welcome To the Jungle doesn't reflect his interest in substantiating and protecting his Guns N' Roses trademark. Including Slash does no more to distort the perception of what is Guns N' Roses anymore than the Welcome to the Jungle video played on TV and YouTube right now.

Axl's request not to include Slash nor new GN'R members leaves the interpretation open-ended. Activision could have included The Smurfs, The Muppets, Bon Jovi, Vince Neil, Nirvana etc. If Axl's representatives cared enough about how the product was to be presented then they could have and should stipulated that in the contract. Activision did their due diligence.

  8. So, look at Kurt Cobain's image. If I was young, and dumb, I would think Kurt Cobain was still alive and there was still a band out there called Nirvana. Kurt's image was nostalgic for the game, so could Slash's. They were both cartoons.

    This is so high school.

  9. so If I hire Slash to be on a poster promoting my cars or anything really with the GN'R logo on it that would be ok? HE SIGNED AWAY THAT RIGHT REMEMBER!!!

If he says he was of Guns N' Roses then yeah. Technically true. Big loophole. Slash wouldn't have to worry about getting sued. Too bad. Lots of people do that. Retired sports star, politicians, and even musicians.
