As much as I would like to see the classic lineup I know that if they put out a record today, it would more than likely not live up to expectations and crash the mystique of those first few years. That being said, I do favor the band that Axl has put together. After seeing them live I must say that if the classic lineup ever got together it would be terrible to see such an amazing group of musicians kicked to the side.
All that being said, I give you my lineup:
Axl Rose (Vocals)
80's Slash (Lead) You cant deny that he can play, but some of his newer stuff lacks that classic drive and growl
Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (Lead)
Izzy Stradlin (Session Rhythm) I don't expect him to tour, just write music and play on the album
Richard Fortus (Rhythm) Guy is a great player
Duff "Rose" Mckagan (Bass)
Matt Sorum (Drums)
Dizzy Reed (Keys)
If Izzy would dedicate to at least being a songwriter/ studio musician I think him and Axl would rekindle they're friendship and who knows maybe Izzy will write a sequel to "14 Years"
Slash and Bumblefoot would vibe really well I think they could turn out some great music
Fortus is just one hell of a player
Duff and Matt are a great Rhythm section
Steven Adler is one hell of a drummer, but I highly doubt that he would be able to keep up while still struggling with his addiction

This was posted on the forum last night ( not by me)...Sounds like The General intro but no doubt fake...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJrjIb9Qais&feature=youtube_gdata_player
It's the Chinese Democracy's drumm from the multitrack I think...
The chords are similar to "Mars: The Bringer of War" which was an orchestral piece by Gustav Holst, they were also used in Diamond Heads "Am I Evil?"
the first three chords of "Mars: The Bringer of war" are very similar to
0:08
It would be badass if Axl uses it on the album version (if there will be one)

When do DJ or Richard actually ever use the killswitch on any of their guitars? I don't recall it. Ever.
I remember seeing them both being used when I was in Indy, first row helps with noticing, but I cannot recall what songs they were used on.

Ok, I'm heading to Indi today to see GNR, I've got GA tickets, I've heard to get there a couple of hours before and I'll be good, anybody have any last minute suggestions about how early to arrive at the venue? And does anyone know if they sell shirts after the show, as I'm gonna be fighting to get up front and don't want to waste time in a line waiting for a shirt? Thanks in advance guys!

Don't know if this has been discussed before but what is the crowd like outside the venues before the show? I've got GA tickets and was wondering what would be a good time to show up. I'm going to the indianapolis show and the floor is split the first half is GA and the back is section seating. I just don't want to show up and get stuck in the back and I'm not afraid to wait. Once waited 5 hours in the freezing rain to get front row to see Motley Crue, well worth it!
