But that's the point. If you only enjoy 2 songs, then you are not a fan of the band. You are a fan of those 2 songs, but not of the band, because then you would also enjoy the other songs. And if you enjoy other songs but don't know them, then you are just a casual listener and not really a fan.

I don't think with a band who went from sounding like Aerosmith to Nine Inch Nails that liking every song they've done is realistic...half of the stuff on Illusions and Chidem is unlistenable. Half the band doesn't and didn't even like those songs, care about them, or even feel they were worthy of being on the album. Even if it was strictly being a fan of the artist, if they lose integrity you can't even have that excuse for 'liking' the songs

  2. Lol this convo is ridiculous, of course you can be a fan of a band without knowing every single song on every single album. If that was true, I'd only be a fan of two bands despite attending over 600 concerts by 180 different acts. Just because GnR has less to discover doesn't really mean anything, you're either going to try and dive into an artist's entire discography or not. You're also expecting people to remember and re-listen to tracks that they don't even enjoy...some people ONLY know SCOM and Welcome to the Jungle - probably a casual listener. Others know those, Paradise City, Nightrain, YCBM, November Rain...casual fan. Throw in Patience, Don't Cry, Estranged, KOHD and LALD and that is a solid, regular fan of the band. Anything more and you're hardcore! Probably 15-20% of the audience at a given show know more than those songs. Just look at Izzy performing 14 years with Gnr in London, 85% of the audience cheered his name but looked completely lost when the song started!

  3. He looks like he has some major social anxiety, what 55 year old man posts and deletes dozens of posts on social media? It's something a 16 year old would do. Axl was clearly always the Alpha personality in GNR, and when he started taking over, Izzy pretty much folded without much of a fight, because his personality is to just abandon confrontation from everything I've seen. It's not like Axl escaped unscathed, the guy was torn to shreds by fans and media for 20 years doing everything in his power to keep the band alive while Izzy happily retreated to a private life. It's possible for people to disagree while still having integrity - chances are Izzy only wanted this tour to be done for the "right" reasons (original gang of 5, all sober, celebrate the spirit of the original GNR) whereas Axl/Slash/Duff were probably open to that arrangement as a marketing move, but weren't going to do anything other than what made them the most money possible. And they've earned the right to do that at this point without being accused of shortchanging the fans. All in all, it's as Izzy says. Sometimes things just don't come together. They had a different vision of what this tour was about, and that probably led to the differences in how the money would be split up. Izzy's probably tired at this point of being told by Axl how he should play, what his pay should be, how much stage presence he should have etc...Izzy built the band - the entire image of GNR was indisputably his vision from day one. And without that image nobody would have cared. It's understandable NOW that Izzy would have to abide by Axl's rules because it's been Axl's band since '95. Izzy was probably thinking this wasn't him joining Axl's band, but the original band collectively running things the way the original band would have run them and the beginning of a new era. Lots of speculation, but you can get a pretty clear vibe on people after following them forever. Doesn't make either of them wrong.

  4. GNR doesn't have to do anything Live Nation hasn't asked them to do. I think some people think GNR cares about ticket sales and venues…the promoters do everything and set the agreements for interviews and stuff. GNR literally gets paid money to show up and fulfill whatever interview terms they've agreed to, that's it. Regardless of whether Pittsburgh sells 5 seats or 50,000 GNR is getting paid almost the exact same amount.

What the fuck are you even on about? You must have live in a very interesting ''reality'' if you think your personal opinions are fact.

At this point debating this is the same as debating whether OJ was innocent or not. You didn't stand there and watch it happen but in the end it's pretty fucking obvious to most except those with a room temperature IQ.

I mean really, we're going to sit here for three weeks debating the secret meanings of a steelers wheel song but don't look back at the well established track record of a guy who's been out there for 30 years? Such a brainwashed fanbase resulting from the CD b/s delays and false promises that would rather spend 6 years with a decoder ring from a captain crunch box instead of examining actual facts.

I can't agree with what you are saying because I don't know the true facts, there are a lot of assumptions and opinions but not facts.

Izzy has said not at this time and a lot of cryptic tweets which can be perceived different ways by different people.

I do appreciate your passion for Izzy and I also hope he does join even though we don't know how long 'this' will last.

That makes perfect sense! All I'm saying is Izzy wants in, and if he wants in he should be in no questions asked with an equal share of the profits, and if not he should be in with a share proportional to the amount of the show he plays. That SHOULD be contingent upon him agreeing to show up for every show and as such be an advertised asset. That's all! Now that tickets have gone on sale it is clear that that level of involvement is impossible, so if anything it will probably have to be 3-4 songs at random shows.

You don't know that it's about money, nobody knows except Izzy.

We can agree he wants to be involved based on his twitter posts right?

We can agree he's done guest spots with GNR for every tour right?

We can agree a stipulation of his was that Adler would play?

We see from multiple reports that Adler was supposed to play. Izzy denied involvement before Adler hurt himself but after Adler was on board, which leaves 3 possible outcomes for why he isn't playing.

    1) He wanted original lineup only (makes no sense as he's played/guested with every lineup since 1985)

    2) He wanted a full time spot and no Richard (makes no sense because of course Axl is going to play chidem songs which he'd have no interest in/ability to play)

    3) He got lowballed while everyone else makes massive amounts of cash. Alternatively he wanted to be an additional spot alongside Richard. Either way they denied a full time slot and/or $ to a founder who wanted to return for fear of over splitting the pie.
