  1. I do think in time ChiDem will gain more respect, quite a bit of it is ahead of its time.

If it wasn't worth talking about, people wouldn't still be talking about it.

Yeah keep dreaming. People only talk about it cause it's such a joke. Such a collossal failure. It's a cautionary tale about hubris and expectations.

It's a lousy album...it will NOT be remembered for any of its content. It will only be remembered as a punchline. It's the opposite of ahead of its time....it's quite literally a decade behind its time!!

What really killed Chinese Democracy was when it was released. If it had only existed in myth and legend, our collective imaginations would have thought of it as the greatest unheard album of all time. Just imagining Axl's soaring wailing vocals with crazy guitars and industrial rhythms.

Instead, we got a shitty collection of half-assed b-side worthy material. Songs with no hooks or melodies. Nothing catchy. Now, there WERE 3 or 4 classics that will forever live in the hearts of the GNR faithful, but to the public at large it was 70 minutes of forgettable boring mediocrity.

    Agree 100%

Don't forget the whiney lyrics too! Remove buckets guitars and all falls dead on its face! He really "saved" that album becoming utter shit.

  2. UYI were "timeless". people have different opinions about that.

I agree though, maybe Axl was smart to stay in the 90s with CD. And maybe he will return to the 90s again, because that's GNR's heyday.

But, Axl is an artist, is he lyrically going to stay in the bitterness of late 90s, when maybe he's in a better place?

Why not do something cool and fresh with Dj and move on?

Go Back to the Future of the 00s.

    Definite no

  3. Being a MJ fan was a particularly disheartening experience...

    So sad about MJ :(

I don't particularly believe in karma, but if I did, he got what was coming.

Why? Because his career was sabotaged by a money hungry prosecutor, who openly hated him because of his eccentric antics and race (most successful black man ever), and got slammed by media at the height of his career based on child molestation accusations (which is proven wrong on all accounts numerous times) planted and executed by said prosecutor?

  4. I personally firmly believe that this gypsy woman manipulated this very unstable and filthy rich rock star and persona to secure her own financial gain. Think about it, Beta was the nanny of his ex-grilfriend who moved in with her in Axl's mansion. In their break-up she chose Axl over her employer who by far is more successful and a stinking millionaire. Around the same time Guns was imploding as well. Axl became this emotional wreck. The man was an easy target and she took it. 20 years later there is hardly a Guns N Roses band (only by name) and a man who has his mommy by his side 24/7 to protect him from all the evil of the world, or one would say, all the sober people who can undermine the credibility of the total entourage and hangers on.

  5. I'm not a fan of post GNR Slash, but he seems like a nice guy. And I can see how he was getting a hard time from Axl at that point. I remember Marc Canter hinting somewhere in his section that in the mid 90's Axl didn't know what exactly he wanted to do with GNR (to stay relevant to the current music scene). He only knew what he DIDN'T want. and he didn't want Slash's classic vision. it's very hard to find a common ground with ppl who have such an attitude. Not to mention all the band name and new contracts stuff. disregarding his obvious frustration Slash still speaks about Axl in a very diplomatic way. well i don't know, but it's hard to believe that somewhere at this point he told Axl to "shut up and sing". or else he's a brilliant actor

Axl lives in his own world, with his own rules. He's surrounded himself with hangers-on that will not question his words or acts. When you see this, you can understand that the "shut up and sing" is nothing but a lie from him to excuse himself for being a failure with his solo record released under the GN'R name.

If you ever question his lateness, dude, blame Slash as I wasn't supposed to go on tour. If you ever question his awful lyrics in his first solo record, dude, Slash, Duff and Seymour bullied me throughout the UYI tour, he called me an idiot and I couldn't write for years! If you ever question the departure of the members of real Guns, dude, they left by their own choice.

That's how insanity works in Axl's mind.

    Wow. Great post!

  6. What good is death and forgiveness if he still holds on to his grudges until his last breath. I think everybody has pretty much forgiven Axl already. Maybe he should start forgiving people too, starting with Marc is a good way I think. As far as I can tell he never screwed Axl over.

  7. But they don't have the hype at all. CD was almost mythical over the years, people were curious for the great 'comeback' of Axl. Once they heard it that curiousity diminished and all Axl has done is fall on his ass time and time again, usually in front of the world. Sure people go to the shows still, but thats not even remotely due to the work of this lineup or the anticipation for future material. At this point they're just a nostalgia act, nostalgia of which they didn't even have a part of. Sure, if they had a decent single then things might change marginally but the world doesn't give two hoots about a 50 year old Axl Rose and what he has to offer, because according to most of the world he has very little to offer and is more know for looking like shit. Thats just the way it is. It's over for him as far as a huge renaissance goes. Some of you guys might think he is a star in the vein of Hendrix or Morrison or whoever, but Axl is only creatively dead as is his relevance. Such is life, he shouldn't have sat at home eating Krispy kremes for 10 years. The world moves on, he should have too.

As for MSL, good for him if he has unreleased music, but if he isn't gonna share it then no one need get too excited. It might leak, it might not but if CD was the 'A List' then we are all doomed to disappointment. Woo Silkworms and OMG in 2013.

Axl couldn't run a bath let alone a band, so I can't imagine we'll see anything soon and that might be a good thing.

The problem is when the leaks spread through the other kind of crowd... spreads into radio stations etc...that's where the damage starts.

Not really. That would be to assume that anybody other than the hardcore fans actually gives a shit.

That's your own twisted opinion Dazey... fact is 5 million cared when they bought the album... and other millions that only downloaded the album legally or illegaly...

That was Chinese Democracy when it was the first new release in years and was massively hyped. Since then it sold dissappoiningly and dropped off the radar and now Axl and his band are a touring nostalgia act. Safe to say that the excitement among the general public is at an all time low for new material.

They continue to have sold out shows and continue to have the same kind of hype on the songs that are yet to be released...
