  1. It's quite simple. When you make yourself so inaccessable and others make themselves very accessable, the grand majority are going to flee towards the easier route. Did Axl ever actually promote Chinese Democracy on any night shows while Slash takes every opportunity he can to promote his work? When is Axl not in a lawsuit? How expensive are GN'R concerts nowadays? I've seen Slash concerts for not such a bad price at all but maybe that's changed a little as his popularity is rising, post VR. Who actually showed up to the Rock and Roll HOF?

It's not stupidity and it's not "It's TMZ, don't take it seriously." It's all about how you deal with the public and clearly Axl has no interest in doing anything to work with the public in some way, regarding his band. And by public, I don't mean have $200 autograph sessions (If that's really true).

Axl can change the public perception with the snap of the finger, and he should... but for whatever reason he doesn't. Therefore, you get most fans believing that Slash is the face of GN'R, which isn't false. He's not even in the band, and he's the face of GN'R in the publics eye. There's something wrong with this picture.

  2. Obviously Axl sounds way better than Myles.

But, you gotta give credit to Myles if he does this. Can't be an easy thing to go up and try and replace Axl at an event honoring his work in front of other huge musicians.

The 1980s and early 90's Axl sounds way better than Myles. Your statement is inaccurate by a lot in the present though. I say this and I'm not huge on Myles. I think he's an awesomely good singer but also quite bland. In terms of singing talent though... Axl lost his and Myles still has his and probably always will.

  3. Not sure why people here think Myles sucks. He is obviously a very very good singer and he doesn't need to screatch or scream in order to get to the high vocals so he's doesn't do any damage to himself, hence he has longevity. He's not Axl but Axls talent has been gone for almost a decade now. If he doesn't show up, who would you rather sing? Duff and Izzy aren't anywhere close to Myles so people making that suggestion are silly.

  4. If this weren't a GN'R forum and all of us were either just casual fans or didn't really care, I get the feeling we'd all be agreeing with Steven and Slash and now Alan. It's understandable that Axl is reluctant to play with the band, but the fact that he seemingly holds such a strong grudge towards Slash, refuses to speak to the media (You're a public figure. Just do it even if it's just for a little bit), and gets outwardly pissed whenever something even slightly goes wrong, puts him in a position to be treated like this.

The man needs to act like a man for once and take some responsibility. I've defended him plenty because I think he's a brilliant writer and USED to be an amazing singer and can also work a crowd like the best of them (Seemingly; I've never been to a GN'R show.) Yet when you put yourself in a position to get pissed on, don't get pissed at other people. Get out of the way and get them to stop. Axl can do that at the snap of the finger, but for some reason, he wont.

It baffles me that people defend him from all this media criticism. He's earned it 100%.

  5. I always thought the song itself was nice but also kind of vanillia... but the concept of the video is pretty great. Nice job by all involved. I don't think the issue of homeless people in general is brought to peoples awareness nearly enough.

  6. i dont wanna see the original line up back together. Axl, Dizzy,Tommy, Chris, Ronnie, Frank, Richard and DJ are busy creating a masterpiece. The others have Velvet Revolver that they can bore the world with.

What is this masterpiece you speak of and how do you know they have intentions of creating one? More importantly, if one is created, how long will it take to be released. It took 14 years for CD to be released.

Seems like the only people that actually talk about it are the fans and media, and the new GN'R just answers questions about it.

There's nothing special about the current lineup other than the fact that Axl is one of the best song writers in rock history.... and a lot of CD wasn't even rock.

  7. For the record, it's stupid that Axl doesn't take every opportunity to get on one of those late night shows so he can squash some of those myths and show off the fun side of him that he seems to really have. He wouldn't get nearly the amount of media criticism he does now.

  8. Perhaps they aren't promoting the current lineup because they don't plan on going anywhere fast with this current lineup.

Or because the era of MTV is over....

OK, and how about social media and youtube? A household name like GN'R can catch the attention of music fans with the snap of their finger if they really really tried. It's really not that hard for them to promote anything if they wanted. When Chinese Democracy came out, they were playing songs off that album like crazy, including NY before they took K-Rock off the radio. Still pissed about that. Heck, you don't think Axl can call Letterman/Conan/Kimmel/Leno/SNL and say "Hey, let me come on your show." They'd all let him on any day of the week and they'd even have a weekend show if they had to.

The point is: If they want to promote and get peoples attention, they can. They are GN'R. The lack of MTV is purely an excuse.

  9. Perhaps they aren't promoting the current lineup because they don't plan on going anywhere fast with this current lineup. I don't consider this any one indivuduals fault. It seems like the only time the band came up with records swiftly and smoothly (Or seemingly) was for AFD and Lies. For what reasons now are beyond anyone outside of the current GN'R circle, but this current lineup isn't getting anything done.

  10. I am not sure if there are more copies, but if you go to Slash's site, you can order the DVD version of the show. It works on American DVD players and it's good quality and a good show. I recommend it. Only one DVD came with it.... but it's the whole show, and there are also some interviews.

did you order it on the us store or uk store? the uk store has the regular european edition with 1 dvd, but the us store advertises a 2 dvds set. i already have the japanese 2cd +dvd and the special edition box set, and i wanted to make sure that they are advertasing a 2 dvds set correctly, i don´t want to buy a but only if its diferent.regular edition

Interesting because I got it off the US Store and I got a 1 DVD set but it had all of the songs it advertises on the 2 DVD set plus some interviews. They aren't showing that now. I am guessing that they ran out of the 1 DVD sets again and put out what they are advertising right now. I certainly hope they aren't falsely advertising it, but that's illegal (I think) so I am sure they aren't.

  11. I am not sure if there are more copies, but if you go to Slash's site, you can order the DVD version of the show. It works on American DVD players and it's good quality and a good show. I recommend it. Only one DVD came with it.... but it's the whole show, and there are also some interviews.

  12. I like the song a lot.... and this isn't even one of the songs the guys were bragging about, if I am not mistaken.

I do agree there are better songs involving Slash, but this one is cool and I liked how Myles opened with the vocals. It was a little different than I heard him before. Good job by all 4 of the guys in the band.

  13. I like the heavy riff and I really like that Slash, Brent and Todd are meshed together so well. Not sure if I love it though. Way too short of a clip. It could end up sucking or being awesome as far as I am concerned.

The songs I end up loving from someone are ones that have to grow on me so maybe I have to listen to this a few times... kind of like "Nothing to Say" on Slashs first album. That's one of his best pieces of work that he's done, IMO.

  14. Axl was the only one remaining from when the band was formed and the name chosen so he was right to own the name. Slash and Duff were never thrown out of the band and they signed over the band name in their willing. I understand Axl's decision to protect the name from what he felt would be a threat (members being on the verge of serious health problems, possible disband etc). I'd hate GnR being in LA Guns's situation (2 bands fighting for the same name). Imagine Steven Adler having a GnR named band today

I am pretty sure Slash and Duff weren't so willing to do this. 1) They were completely out of their minds from drugs and alchohal. 2) Didn't Axl threaten to quit the band if they didn't sign over the name?

To Axls credit, he was pissed off that the guys were f'ed up, but nobody confronted each other about this. Axl was unprofessional as hell and presented himself (And still does) in a manner that nobody wants to work with him and the other guys never confronted Axl. Both Duff and Slash said it.

  15. The day Axl realizes he's better off singing songs that don't require him to sing at pitches a lot of women can't hit, he'll become a good singer again. I think a lot of people are are in love with Axl's current voice simply because they love HIM (Rightfully so) but come on. There aren't that many good singers out there that can't do much better than Axl, at least when it comes to singing high pitched. This isn't a knock on Axl. He used to be f'ing amazing at it. His vocal cords can't handle that anymore though. Everyone heard it changing even before the UYI tour. How could his vocal cords not get messed up with how he screamed? That's not natural! Nobody can't sustain that level of performance for long.

If he keeps singing songs with nothing but these high pitched tones like Nightrain (One of my favs for the record) then we are going to be begging for him to sound even how he sings now, which isn't great besides his low pitched tunes (Which sounds amazing still)

Axl is going to have to adjust or else his singing days will be done.

  16. Kinda odd and weird.... but I have a feeling the music will be great and that's all that matters.

Slash had almost nothing to do with the name Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver (At least I am 99% sure about that) but he came up with the artwork for GN'R.

  17. Well Slash said that he and Axl were cool with each other a few months ago in some article, so cool. With that said, I think if they ran into each other at guitar center and gave each other a high five then walked away, people would think there is a reunion about to happen. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see them play on stage together and think it's more than a coincidence that both of them are playing at Download, but big whop. He said Happy Birthday after he said they are cool with each other. It means nothing but nothing. :-)
